Shane Devlin knew life sometimes sent people down roads and across bridges they would normally never consider, but it had never happened to her and she was not at all surprised. Her life revolved around books — at her job in the library and at home, where she spent most of her free time reading.
With no close friends and only a worship-from-afar crush on a handsome author to fuel her fantasies, she lived quietly.
Shane long ago accepted that someone as plain and shy as she was could never shine socially and would never know true love, so she stopped trying.
But soon after her twenty-third birthday, she made the uncharacteristically bold decision to move out of the family home and share an apartment with two attractive and outgoing roommates, never imagining the decision would lead her down roads and across bridges she once only dreamed about.
I was born and raised in a suburb of Boston, Massachusetts. I've spent most of my life in the area, except for brief stays in Las Vegas and Los Angeles in my early twenties. I'm married and have two grown children, a boy and a girl. I'm a very private person who'd much rather sit and talk with a friend over a cup of tea or a glass of wine than attend a big party. I have no desire to ever appear on any (un)reality or any other TV show although I might agree to appear on the Tonight Show if my book became a best seller and Leno personally called to ask me. Have I mentioned I have a very active imagination! I've almost always been self-employed at one thing or another. Right out of high school, I spent about eighteen months working in a local department store, now long out of business, and that was enough to convince me I wanted to be my own boss. I currently manage websites for a small group of clients and occasionally do a little proofing and editing. I enjoy writing (of course!) and gardening as well as cooking unusual dishes and trying new wines.
