A twist in the story. Something that poor Colby wishes he had never found out. Colin is really in grave danger and still won tlet Meghan in. Is Ivan really the only being that Meghan can trust? What on earth is Sebastion doing?? A twist in the lives and the world that the twins know...if thy are ven twins...
This entire series could have easily gotten 4 stars had there been an EDITOR double checking the ebooks. The amount of spelling and grammatical errors is appalling considering this is a published book by an ADULT. Not sure if the errors occurred when transferring to ebook or if the paperback copies are just as bad, but someone seriously needs to fix them all! Ridiculous!
Divided (Bloodlines, The Immortal, and The Dagger of Bone) Book 5
The continuous story of Meghan and Colin. In book 5 many secrets will be reveal. The twin are now fifteen. Colin is leaning to control his power an Meghan lean the truth. This a good one make for 13 and older.
In a series where one character's magic power is expected to go bad, enough that the good magic users have tried to kill him but his power has protected him...well, in this volume Colin is still a nice young man. He's forgiven his sister for having been the chosen slayer of him and his girlfriend, seeing as how they didn't stay dead. They're working together again, trying to identify the parents who left them in an orphanage.
I don't think I want to read the whole series. Too much "Chaos" for me. I received volumes four and five as a sample. This is volume five and I liked it much better than volume four.
In this episode there are several questions answered and more asked. Colin continues to grow in his skills, Meghan is also advancing her skills. Bird reveals himself and Ivan "explains " things. Meghan, Bird, and Ivan "escape" from the island. I am enjoying this story. The episode can be read as a stand alone.
Book 5 in this series finds the twins going towards different paths. Meghan believes Colin ran off with the Projector, but realizes her twin brother is this person...or is he really her brother.....I received a free copy for a review, but don't want to give away spoilers!!!
This book definitely had some balls, I mean I did not expect , so this installment took some risks, which paid off. I also really appreciate that the villains in this series are somewhat nuanced. Most of them aren't truly villains? I mean each believes their path is the right one and each is willing to do some morally questionable things to get there, but at the same time you understand why they do it, because for them, this is the be all and end all. The stakes are really high too, so you either do what you think is right or lose. I can't say for sure now, since the series isn't over, but some of these "villains" might not end up villains in the end, which keeps you guessing. Juliska and Colby are two good examples of that and I hope the author keeps up the surprises.
Now onto the negatives: language and style. I can't stress how much this series needs a good editor. Lord, I was mentally erasing and correcting the text as I read on. And some stuff is really bizarre; for example you've got paragraphs which are reiterated on the same page, suggesting this is the author's really really rough draft. Even so, it feels like she didn't even read over her work once. It's a shame really, because she's got a gripping plot and she's made up a rather unique world, but she sometimes lacks the skills to convey that to us. Also, girl needs to use a thesaurus more, because she's using the same word thrice in a sentence, and that's not cool. It also dumbs the text down. And makes really interesting, complex characters seem childish and underdeveloped. Same goes for her descriptions; they need to be a bit richer if we are to get a feel of this world. So yes, Rachel, you're talented, but please get a professional editor.
Minor quibbles: Colin & Catrina piss me off less these days (Catrina's grown on me since she's kind of this world's version of the Oracle from Matrix), but Colin is still too goddamn childish for his own good. I'm still team Meghan all the way, but lord, can she just admit she doesn't "hate" Ivan already? Can those two crazy kids get together or at least talk it out? It's been three/four books of this awkward sexual/romantic tension and I, for one, am ready for phase two (I get that Meghan is still fourteen, maybe fifteen at this point, but at least get to first base, girl). And you had better not give me a love triangle now, Rachel. I'm warning you. If you turn this into Sebastien/Meghan/Ivan I will scream. Please no.
All in all, a fun, twisty installment that took me by surprise several times. Hoping the next one is better edited (this series as a whole would do far, far better with a clean up. I'd like to recommend it to more people, but I'd also like for the author to spruce it up. Even if this is a middle-grade/young adult series, there's no need to dumb it down).
Again the author does not disappoint we find Collin being trained by Kaspersky the old magic Ian who had originally sold him his book of spells, while Caterina stands by to to help Collin balance his emotions and deal with the fact that he is indeed more powerful than first thought. Meghan is in an emotional turmoil she is learning she can not trust anyone but her catawitch bird, and loathsome Ivan. The queen whom she has loved and idolized has lied and betrayed her which is what caused her to betray Collin to whom she has not her from in over a year. The Grosvenor has made his appearance on the island during a return of travelers discovering Meghan but not letting anyone know he is aware of her and who she is. Sebastian finally finds Meghan also and tells her the truth. The truth about Jae is revealed Meghan s world is crashing down around her she needs off the island she wants her brother will she find away to either.?
Collins mentor Casper is killed by Colby and the striker he and Caterina are forced into seclusion by themselves to survive who can they trust?Collin is forced to confront even though he cannot currently forgive Meghan he cannot allow the striker or Colby to kill her his emotions are conflicted but for his safety and everyone s he must control them. Will they ever get back to normal, just camping with uncle Aaron like the used to or is that world totally lost to them was uncle Aaron killed, who was their mother, what's up with the orphanage and has everyone lost their mind?
I really liked the fated saga series. To be honest the first book was just alright but I strongly suggest giving this series a chance. The story gets much better in the rest of the books. Divided is a must read for Fated saga fans and it does not disappoint! I was able to read it in one day because I couldn't put it down. While the series was written for a younger generation, it is still a great read for adults too. I would recommend this series to fantasy fans and especially if you enjoyed Harry Potter.
Great series! Very entertaining. I have thoroughly enjoyed this series. Although this series is written for the younger generation, readers of all ages can enjoy it and be entertained. I wish the books were longer, but have thoroughly enjoyed them.
like it so well that I saw she was on face book and good reads that I am now following her. may try her other book demond isle series. her books are well worth the price, as in not too pricy.
