Simply put, this is the story of two kids telling about the different things that they do with their two uncles. I really like this book. It is geared toward younger children and goes to show that you can do the same things with your standard aunt and uncle as with two uncles or even two aunts.
I really feel this is a great book to help kids to understand the differences and similarities in any family. I hope more children will read this to help educate them against the prejudices that they are going to be facing in a couple years.
I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review.
All families are unique. And some members are different, yet bond so well with children. This story is cute since the two uncles do everything with the kids, like cooking, playing, teaching, homework, encouragement, caring and loving. In this brief children's book, the children learn so much. Author Jeff Rivera does love his 12 nieces and nephews who are scattered all over the world. He shows them much love and he sure knows how to reach out to them. The excellent illustrations are filled with positive interactions. Very well done, Mr. Rivera!
"MY TWO UNCLES" by Jeff Rivera is a wonderful book for beginning readers. Kid's need more books like this, to show that family's don't have to be the typical man and women. The love these 2 people (regardless of gender) give these kids is incredible and amazing... This book is so engaging and easy to read. I believe it's one of the best illustrated story books now available. I can't wait to see more of Mr. Rivera's work!!
My Two Uncles is a delightful tale about two children enjoying spending time with two uncles. The rhyming language promotes literacy for young children.
The concepts of different family structure teach tolerance in our modern society. I wish I had this type of story to share with the children in my class years ago when one little boy had two mommies. The structure of families is changing from the traditional family structure and this is an excellent story to use to teach tolerance.
I just finished My Two Uncles and for some reason it brought me to tears. It is so sweet (authentic, powerful, emotional, etc.). The illustrations are perfectly matched with the story line.
I love the last picture with the two couples - excellent learning tool. The story line is easy to follow with the rhyming. I can vision this as a classic in teaching tolerance about differences.
I read "My Two Uncles". This is a story of acceptance. You don't have to agree with gay rights to understand and enjoy this book. It is delicately handled. This is the story of the author and his partner and the nieces and nephews that they have. The book demonstrates that they are no different than anyone else when it comes to loving and doing things with their families.
Not everyone is the same, different race, different religion but we are all equal! My grandsons have both read this and loved it! Bought up with many differences because they understand if we were all the same life would be boring. Seeing LGBT books just reinforces this! Fab book and fun
A great little book about two children spending time with their two awesome uncles. This books teaches about tolerance and acceptance, and comes with adorable illustrations. I'm so glad books like this are now available.
