Vampire Coven #1

The Brethren Of Tavish

Rate this book
Ice and snow litter the frozen earth in the not-so-distant future. Survival is for those adept at carving out homes within the polar ice caps.

Mercy is the last child of a martyr family. The line must die out—the madness must stop. All have been forbidden to produce offspring by their leader, Mercy’s father. Sex and conception is a sin punishable by death.
A dark evil is spreading across the land. Vampires, in a desperate bid for self-preservation are searching each iceberg, cave and cavern for their highly prized food source. Of particular interest are women of childbearing years.
With Tavish’s first taste of her blood comes the first onslaught of Mercy’s tears. Rules of survival are explained. Complete submission, it is law. Fealty to her Master, it is law. Females must be bred. It is law. Those that cannot breed are given over to the vampires and Anivamps. It is certain death.
Tavish will soon come to realize exactly how far he will go for a little Mercy.

Born and raised in Ontario, C. L. Scholey developed her passion for writing through her love of reading books as a child. From the author:
Hello, I'm Connie! Now that we've met how about I tell you a little about me? I love to write, it's like having a super power.

I was born and raised in Ontario...yes I'm Canadian, no I don't live in an igloo, no I've never pet a polar bear, but I have run into a few black bears, seen wolves, moose, coyotes and I think there's a hundred pound squirrel in my attic.

I spend as much time as I can get away with looking for rocks in Bancroft. When I'm not in Bancroft I live in a small town, so people know me when they see me. Some ask me what I'm working on--some even ask me in a regular voice not a whisper.

I get bored easily, it's why one day I'll be working on assassins, the next Sci-fi, then Vikings, then vampires, then planning world domination--wait, what?

Moving on. I love animals and we have a dog, 120p mastiff. He's great with the kids and careful around them, but he'd run me over for a piece of bologna. Otherwise he loves us.

If you want to get to know me better join me on FB or twitter. Right now I need to change back into a mom, it's my best super power.

The palate on which these story unravels is engaging, unique, and compelling. We are in a ice aged work where the vampire and human population are both struggling to survive.

The love story is between a thousands year old vampire and a young woman he harvest from her clan after an attack by another vampire family. He intends her to be a breeder for more humans but falls in love.

This all sounds a lot less romantic than it was. The hero is a powerful and jaded. The heroine is young and unconditionally loving despite a huge culture shock.

I really liked the world building here even if the romance in terms of character development was flatter than I would have liked. I look forward to the rest of the series.

Very interesting and unique. There was a bit of world building at the beginning- the first few chapters- to get us all up to speed on this strange world but I was never really bored, it was kind of fascinating in a WTF kind of way and slightly confusing at first but eventually it is easily understood. My favorite part of the whole story though was the very end. I laughed until I had tears. Never heard of craving a lactating cow before lmao!
