I didn't think anyone could come close to beating Ed Hume when it comes to knowledge about gardening in the Pacific Northwest, but I think Elzer-Peters does it.

Dedicated solely to fruit and vegetables, Elzer-Peters offers a really good overview of setting up a garden, what to plant and when to plant it, how to keep it alive, and when to harvest it. Creating a frost table by PNW city was extremely helpful. Her section on compost and fertilizer had all sorts of good advice. She has a pleasant, informed-butnot-haughty writing style that I appreciated.

With some exceptions (I think the raspberry/brambles section could've been boosted), she gives thoughtful and detailed advice on how to care for the most common PNW edibles. Both beginner and expert gardeners will pick up some useful tips from this book.
