For preschoolers and beginning readers, Whose Nest? is a beautiful illustrated introduction to nests of all descriptions and their inhabitants. It might be a tree frog or a gecko, a dormouse or a rabbit, a duckling or an eagle!
Can you guess whose nest? Take a peek into the nest and look at the clues that surround it—a feather, a footprint, a tasty food morsel—and guess whose nest. Then turn the page to find out who really lives there. The animals include: • Dormouse • Tree frog • Clownfish • Eagle • Rabbit • Mallard duckling • Bumblebee • Gecko

I had walked by this lovely book in my kindergarten library for over a year and finally decided to read it. I am so sorry I waited so long! This nonfiction book about animal nests is the perfect book for curious kinders and preschoolers! It was one of my favorite read alouds this year with them! It brought so much discussion and they were entranced! The illustrations are beautiful as well, and some eagle eye littles even caught on to the clues. This book will definitely make it into my regular rotation!
So many things that I love about this book! 1. It's a non-fiction picture book (one of my favorite genres) with beautiful illustrations. 2. The author shows a nest and gives clues so the reader can guess whose nest it might be. (I love guessing books!) 3. There's so much info packed into those clues, info that made me want to learn more. 4. It has flaps! Since the nests were of a variety of animals and not just birds, guessing was a good challenge for the 4s and 5s I read it to.
Great book for small children. This book is a "lift the flap" book. It goes through each animal who nests and you are able to lift the flap and see what animals nest looks like. It is a great book because it shows that reader the environment and introduces them to the animal kingdom.
Very sweet lift-the-flap reveal book about nests of all types, not just birds but bumblebees, mice, geckos, etc. Good for 4/5 grades in talking about adaptations, good for K-2 in talking about habitats, animals, etc.
Kids of all ages just love lift the flap books. Each page has a clever clue and then the kids lift the flap to discover what type of animal lives/grows within the nest.
I used this for a storytime with kindergarteners, and they had fun guessing which animals lived in the various nests. Great way to incorporate nonfiction into storytime.
Guessing books are so much fun! I love how sturdy this book is. We got it from the library and it is still in great condition. From the back page: "Insight Editions, in association with Roots of Peace, will plant two trees for each tree used in the manufacture of this book. Roots of Peace is an internationally renowned humanitarian organization dedicated to eradicating land mines worldwide and converting war-torn lands into productive farms and wildlife habitats. Roots of Peace will plant two million fruit and nut trees in Afghanistan and provide farmers there with the skills and support necessary for sustainable land use." These are the kind of companies I want to support. I will look for more books from Insight Kids.
This is a ‘lift the flip’ book in beautiful watercolors that is kind of a riddle book. The first text asks the questions, then lifting the flap gives the answer, and more information about the creature whose nest it is. From frogs to rabbits to birds, it’s an adventure in animals who create nests, and they aren’t all birds!
Beautiful realistic illustration and quite educational. A great selection of different animals and the flaps are a delightfully exciting way to discover each animal. I would suggest it for children who treat books with care to preserve the paper flaps.
As you read to children, have them guess what creature they think lives in that nest. A wide variety of nests are including such as a nest for gecko, clownfish and an eagle.
