Do not judge a book by its cover. One of the worst reads in its genre, the writer failed to add his own thoughts and more real world examples which would have actually enhanced the quality of his writing. Another drawback is putting all possible theories in one book, where none gets highlighted.
A boring read.

This is a book on the essentials of management like leadership, courage, economics, teambuilding and so on. But as long as you consider it as a primer on management, it will hold your attention because it is a virtual dictionary. There are anecdotes and quotes from other management guru's.

If you are a well-read Indian or a foreigner well read in ancient Indian history, the writer Pillai's prescriptions will make sense. Chanakya succeeded in carving his name in Indian history by the time of Alexander the Great's invasion of Asia. Chanakya is to India what Machiavelli is to Europe.

You shouldn't be distracted by Pillai's repetitive style nor his Indianisms; they add aroma to his work. The book is definitely the put-downable several times type, but it's like giving up cigarette 'so many times'

This book is not only for leadership or management seekers it is for every person, no matter if he is school student, under-graduating, job seeker, employee, employer, manager, CEO, founder or politician. Book covers solution for every issue that any man ever faces in his life including time management, team work, family issues, job finding, stress, career selection, political issues, corruption, even terrorism too.

Till I completed this book I found my self with full of new enthusiasm, the new way of looking at problem and dealing with them and realising importance of any relation whether in business or in personal life. This book has covered almost all possible scenario that any team or organisation may encounter. This book gives you brief insight of the teachings of the greatest teacher mankind ever had, Chankya.

No manager or leader is complete in himself without knowing the wisdom that this book has covered.

This book has a few nuggets of useful advice that came from Chankya's works, primarily the Arthashastra. All of this could be condensed in 2-3 pages of text. The remaining 99% of the 300+ pages of the book is just generic mix of self-help and global examples which makes it a long and arduous read. This makes it a painful read without getting a feeling of learning something new out of each chapter.

The title is misleading. Chankya was famous for his extra extraordinary skills of politics. I believe there is big gap between regular management and politics. Corporate chanakya sounded me the idea of learning and managing office politics, so I had different expectations when I started the book.

Nevertheless, I found my expectations were wrong after reading 20%of the book. So may be there is something new to learn in management aspect I thought, but I was disappointed there as well.

The way author has put the content is to explain that in ancient Indian scripture management lessons were taught. For instance he says 'when 2 or more people meet in office to discuss formal issue is known as meeting, a manager must have meetings in office as chankya has also mentioned that meetings must be done in book 1, chapter 2, para 3', so one can see here that the context in the book is to say what you do as part of management is also mentioned in chankya's book but there is nothing new to learn here.

The author fails miserably to put the entire course in either interesting or knowledgeable format.

He tried putting some meat by using reference of Covey's 7 habits but in a very awful way.

The whole 317 pages of book has not given any new single knowledge or info other than this that author has done PHD in 'Arthshastra'.

It says on the cover page of the book that "He got the bull's-eye with his very first book - Times of india", well I got news for times people that bull tried to kill himself after reading the book by poking arrow in his own eye that's how he got the bull's-eye!  ☺️

2 Star out of 5 instead, not recommended as not worth the time.

One Trusting on fate, being devoid of human endevour, perishes because he does not start undertakings, or his undertakings have failed. ~ Chanakya

The book delves into Kautilya's ancient philosophy of Arthshastra and blends it well with mordern corporate leaders philosophy.

Corporate Chanakya is one such book which never seems to end! Even with 316 pages, the books seems excruciating long. The author repeats multiple concepts and statements at various parts of the book. More than 70% of the things are applicable for people of high authority. And the rest 30% is something we already know by virtue of common sense. The book gets boring as and when it progresses and by the time it's over, you do feel releived. It's one of those books which stops you from reaching the last page.

If you think that you're doing well in your corporate life and just have good common sense gained from observing your environment. Don't read this book!

This book has around 175 chapters, each of them following a similar pattern - taking a quote from Kautilya's Arthashastra and then explaining its significance in the modern context. It talks about how we can apply Chanakya's teaching in the modern corporate context to excel in career and in life.

This book is alright, but I feel that the information in the book could be conveyed in a shorter way as well. This could reduce the book length. Similar information could be clubbed into one chapter, which could reduce the number of chapters in the book. Overall, this book is decent to understand corporate aspects in a general way. Please do not expect to go very deep into very specialised topics of corporate like influencing people, corporate politics, etc.

This book is a quick compendium of how to handle corporate life. It probably would be appreciated more by people with a certain amount of experience and who are at decision making levels in their organisations, since they are more involved in running the shop and taking corporate level decisions.

The book various aspects of corporate life, including the following:
1 - Leadership
2 - Competition
3 - People management
4 - Handling competition
5 - Financial Management
6 - Business Strategy

The book lists several points that would help people do well in their senior positions, but doesn’t go into much depth. It’s probably the dummies guide to Arthshastra (I haven’t read it though) and readers would need to pick other literature to delve deeper into areas of interest. So it’s a good book, but slightly underwhelming imho.

There is absolutely no reason to disbelief that these challenges cut across varied business verticals. Thought the magnitude and intensity may vary.

Radhakrishnan Pillai is considered the pioneer in acquainting the general population with Chanakya’s learnings and putting them in the context of modern corporate culture & business dynamics. The book addresses challenges faced by varied businesses and individuals in the corporate setting across different verticals. It is written with a basic assumption that the reader has sufficient corporate experience to connect the dots and has faced relevant situations to relate and apply to their workplace. Even an employee with average performance graph can excel at his work if he applies the book’s lessons. Read this one to break the cycle of mediocrity that corporate life is prone to.

Ouch! This should go in the self help category in terms of quality. Reminded me of a collection of thought of the days that we had back in school. I didn't take the courtesy of finishing this book. Extremely abstract interpretation of Chanakya's thoughts applied abstractly to abstract management concepts today. I guess I have used abstract ample number of times now.

Pillai has tried to marry Chanakyaz philosophy in modern ways of corporate working. While it does seem interesting in the very thought of it,the book does little to evoke any major understanding than a sane HR Manager would have already assimilated.Well at least we can say"Even Chanakya in Arthatsasthra has referred to this".I give it a 2

Chanakya's work is timeless and there is lots to learn. While author tries to map current aspects of corporate ( leadership, management and training ) - it is a good book for a quick re-look at your own strengths and shortcomings.
