The Untold Story Behind the Writing Publishing and Republishing of Triangle of Death
A Tale of Treason Cloaked in “faction.” The name, "Triangle of Death" was coined by a US prosecutor ib 1972 when a world map used to diagram the conspiracy prepared for a jury, used black pins to signify homicides committed by this international drug and terror cartel, formed a black triangle covering three continents. Europe, South America and the US. Triangle of Death is the only book ever published that gives an accurate depiction of this organization and its US supporters and protectors. Auguste Ricord, a French Nazi collaborator during WWII was sentenced to death by France in absentia when he was spirited out of Europe to a safe haven in Paraguay by the OSS (forerunner of CIA) in the aftermath of WWII. Once established in Paraguay, protected by CIA, he created criminal organization that was a bigger threat to American security than any traditional enemy. In one of the very fiew news pieces discussing this organization was one, about the size of an obituary, published in the New York Times that quoted President Nixon said that the Ricord organization “was responsible for more American deaths than the Vietnam war.” From that time on there was virtually no media coverage of this organization nor books that even came close to telling the real story. I was one of the undercover officers involved in the takedown of this organization in 1972. What myself and the other agents who took part in this case witnessed can be described as nothing less than treason against the American people. After I had written NY Times Bestseller, Deep Cover, followed by national bestseller The Big White Lie, despite intensive government efforts to limit the distribution and coverage of these books, they garnered more coverage than CIA, Department of State and the Department of Justice were comfortable with, Bill Moyers in fact, featured Deep Cover” as one of the world’s tn most censored-by-media stories in his Project Censored. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n5GSyV... With the attempts to silence both books by an subtle but iron fisted control of media that continues to this day, came physical and legal threats. Yet, before I died, I had promised myself that I would get the facts of this story out, even if in a novel. I hoped that public discussion brought about by the book would enable me to tell an American audience truths long hidden, that would otherwise just vanish from his-story. So my wife and co-writer Laura Kavanau decided to craft a thriller that was solidly based on fact. When first published by Delacorte Press, I was given air time by a couple of national TV shows like the Montel Williams show and the first run of this book sold out in hours. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LG8XNF... Then shipments to book stores inexplicably disappeared. I had no idea what cold be behind this, nightmare-for-an-author scenario until I appeared before an audience of 5,000 at the Marin County Auditorium, San Francisco, in an event sponsored by radio and TV personality, Michael Savage. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ziEHh... The publisher, Barnes and Noble ordered 2,000 books to be available at the presentation. None were delivered. It took weeks of investigation to learn that the ISBN serial number for the book had been mysteriously altered in the computer, making it impossible for any retail book outlet to reorder the book. An event that in the history of book publishing, had never happened before. All investigations into how this happened yielded no explanation. Among the factual revelations of the book is the attempt and limited success of this organization to genetically alter cocaine into a sexual enhancement drug (with violent side affects) that made it both highly addictive and extremely dangerous to anyone in the vicinity of users, and an interrupted trade, Mideast oil for this genetically altered drug that would have made it a weapon of terror. With the advent of Ebook publishing, a weight has been lifted from my soul.
www.MichaelLevinebooks.com Michael Levine, called “America’s top undercover agent for 25 years” by 60 Minutes, is the New York Times bestselling author of Deep Cover, The Big White Lie and Triangle of Death. , Not only was Levine one of the most decorated undercover agents in the history of the Drug Enforcement Administration but he is also one of only a handful of agents that was known for excelling at the most dangerous of all undercover assignments: “Deep Cover.” Levine would travel the globe posing as an American Mafia don armed with nothing but a false passport and a pocket full of cash to conduct face-to-face multi-ton drug trafficking deals with the world’s top drug barons. He beat the odds and lived to become a writer. He is also active as a court qualified expert and trail consultant in Covert Operations, International Narcotics Trafficking, Informant Handling and Police Use-of-force. He is currently lecturing on Undercover Survival Tactics & Informant Handling for the US State Department in Brazil. His New York City radio show can be heard on WBAI 99.5 FM as well as Sticher.com and iTunes.
Rings true & real from another federal agents perspective
I liked the real depiction of the brutal internal politics of the DEA,, the granular breakdown of an operation, the ruthlessness of the scum in the international drug trade & the disingenuousness in our intelligence agencies.
I should have stopped after reading his non-fiction book "Deep Cover", where he recounts his last undercover operation for DEA, which everything that went wrong was not his fault, but was the fault of the inept Customs Agents he was saddled with.
This book is fiction, but he plays with it making it out that it's actually true, but he had to write it as fiction to get away with. Cue a bunch of crazy conspiracy theory non-sense, with an action hero (with the same name as the author even though this is fiction) straight from a cheesy men's adventure genre story. Nazi war criminals, Arab Sheikhs, terrorists, South America, cocaine, the Mossad, CIA backstabbers (whom he calls the "Cocaine Import Agency", his funniest moment), it was just a preposterous plot and that he frames this as if it is based on a true story, wow. I was a little unsure about the events of Deep Cover, how much was his imagination, arrogance, etc..., based on how he framed this novel as based on true events, it ruined his credibility overall.
