I was lucky to receive an ARC for the second book in the series and it didn't disappoint!

I found the writing a lot better than the first book though there were some weird character outbursts.

The story really picks up in this second book with a lot more details of the world where everything takes place. I loved the faster pace in this book compared to the first one.

The story itself was really suspenseful and made me want to keep reading.

I definitely didn't see the cliffhanger coming, but I'm looking forward to reading the third book!

That ending is killing me!!!

I need to know what has happened with Jacin!! Did he go with Loriel or go back after Alysium? And I knew that the whole rebel set up sounded fishy. I know Ashlilou is a victim but I hate her for this and by still going forward with it while her gut already told her something is up.

I love how Alysium tried to find her way back in her homeland and want to see for herself how bad it has gone since she left. And it gave a big world building without it feeling rushed. I got to know each place that got mentioned in this book. Love Autumn Court with all its colors and people still dance and celebrate their time. Winter Court was majestic with the night description and the winter solstice lights! We even got to see a bit of the Spring Court.

And Alysium is on to something with what is happening with Ly’s and why is behavior is so off all the time.

Spice level: 🌶️🌶️ (through dreams)

This was a great follow on to the first book, you are still following Alyssium and Jacin on their journey. You meet more characters, there is more world building but it is all easy to follow and you will be carried along beautifully with the characters as you discover more and more about this world.
But can I just say, that ending!! why? 😂...it really makes you want to rush and grab the next book!

Who in the Fae does he think he is?!
Book 2 has us discovering Ally's past and her truth. Follow her and Jacin as they head back home to find out what the Shadow King has been up to while they have been hidden on earth. Will Ly be able to win her heart? Or will Ally hate him forever? And in comes Mr Shampoo man, he brings some laughs to the table while he helps Ally through Agenia. I absolutely loved this book.

Of Fae & Betrayal Co tinges the story of Alyssum, Ly and Jace, and Ally and Jace travel through their home land trying to find out what has happened and work out which of their new friends can be trusted.

Who is the mysterious General who runs the rebels that never seem to actually rebel?

An interesting journey and friend made along the way. I am now very invested in this story and can kot wait for the next installement.

Omg I need more 🤯

Wow, I have loved reading about Alysiums journey. From the very beginning of this book it gets you right back to where book one ended and keeps you gripped. I couldn't put it down just wanted to carry on reading and finding out what happens next in her journey. From the findings of her friends to the deceit of others. I was hooked. Then bam another cliffhanger I need book 3 out now lol 😂

Of Fae and Betrayal

I’m really enjoying Aly’s story. This book is definitely a filler book, trying to world build and introduce us to new characters. I found myself skimming a few parts. Overall I’m still very much enjoying this story and will be diving straight into the next book!

I love this series. The switch from human/urban fantasy to Fae world-building, while Alysium discovers the truth of her hidden back story, was really well written.

I love the dynamics with Jacin and the lingering question throughout whether Lysais is someone she can trust as betrayal is a theme for him. Yet not everything is as it seems, and there are other subplots humming to keep you guessing, too.

I am really enjoying the characters, world-building, and story progression and will be excited to pick up book 3. ❤️

Absolutely wonderful world building. The way Maggie Brown constructs the fae landscape is both breathtaking and terrifying.

If you are looking for a story with lost royals and hostile forces, then this is a fabulous book to choose.

Please note that the series comes with some trigger warnings, the author has kindly written them in the foreword. If you are interested, make sure to read her note at the front of the book.

If you love YA, Fae, Faeries, Magic, etc this book/series is for you.

Just like the first book once I started the book I couldn't put it down. It kept me captivated from the first page through the last. You will need to read the books in order for them to make sense.

So we have our two lead characters back, Ally and Jace, and of course Lysias. However there are lots of new characters that you will get to meet.

Ally and Jace are now back in their homeland, the land of the Fae. Being thrust through the portal that Ally made during battle, reveals a whole new yet familiar world to her. Being home helps Ally to remember what had actually happened to her before being sent to the mortal realm. However life in the Fae world is not all sunshine and rainbows.

I will end it there so I don't spoil anything, but I can't wait to see what book 3 holds.

Oh my Lysais!

This book had so much that I was wanting after OMAL ended on the cliff hanger it did. At risk of giving spoilers the romance in this sequel was 🔥, and our girl Alysium grew into her role as a ruler so well. The world building and detail was on point, reminding me of Terry Brooks and his building of Shanara, giving us a new Fae world that Maggie Brown really brings to life, painting a picture so vivid you can imagine you’re there. The ending will have you on the edge of your seat dying to know when the next book comes out!

This was an interesting story that follows Alysium as she tries to recover from the betrayal. The interaction between her and Lysais is nicely portrayed. The story is fast paced and is an interesting read. I received a free copy of the book and this is my voluntary and honest review.

Loved it!

This book had all the feels. Ally is learning to grow into her role and trust herself. She is learning that her gut instincts are right and she should listen to them more. The story unfolds as they travel across the different courts and find out how her realm is actually doing. She grows so much during this book and she discovers that everything may not be as it seems.

The detail in this book was amazing! I absolutely loved the story and the imagery is especially powerful. Can’t wait for the next one!
