Bees and Wasps is a great book from Scholastic that provides simple, easy-to-read information on the lives of bees and wasps. This book also contains text features that are very useful for young students that may need clarification with vocabulary. This book talks about how they live, what they do, how they mate, how they make honey, and even how they pollinate. Great resource for young readers wanting to know more about these insects.

Intense creatures! Such characters, the way they control and maintain equilibrium in the hive. Fascinating, ***

This is an informational book about bees and wasps. It talks about the different types of bees and wasps, how they get their food, what they do to defend themselves, etc.

I learned a lot from this book even though it is written for children. I also thought it was a good idea that the put a glossary in the back of this book for children.

Synopsis: "The latest title in the popular Beginner's series explains how these fascinating insects build their nest, communicate and work together. It also covers pollination, how they defend themselves by stinging and how honey is made and collected."

My Review: So I originally picked this book up to help teach Munchkin that bees are not that scary, but at the last minute I decided not to read it with him. I am glad I didn't because I don't think he is ready for this level of book and I have a feeling that all the close up pictures would have given him nightmares. Anyway, this is a good level 3 reader, it has short and simple sentences but with quite a bit of new vocabulary and it is rather long too. It is very informative though and would be great for those nature and science or bug lovers.

Bees and Wasps was a very detailed informational book. It had a lot of great facts that were broken into different categories. The pictures in this book are really cool! It also has a great index, glossary, and additional resources. A great book for students to use to know a little more about bees and wasps.
