One of the magical things about books is that if we read a book that we love, a book that touches our soul, that book becomes an extension of who we are, we wear that book on our sleeves.

Some interviews were very interesting (for instance Goodreads CEO Otis Chandler and Kobo's Executive Vice President of Content Michael Tamblyn), but some just went nowhere. As an avid reader I was excited to hear about new websites like Jellybooks, Libboo and Bookish. As someone in the industry I was comforted to know we're all struggling with the same issues, and that Pearson is on the right track.

This is not so much a book, but a collection of interviews. Some of them were great. Others were a bit of a miss. But the biggest issue was that most of the content was from 2012, so... hmmm...

Interesting insights from industry leaders

It's 2014 as I write this. This book was published in 2012, so I'm a bit late. But there's still some interesting perspectives here. It is fascinating to see industry leaders weigh in on current events of the publishing industry. Some of the predictions were spot on, others not so much. If you want a snapshot of the industry from a traditional publishing side, it's worth reading. If you're an indie author, it's also worth reading but it's maddening how far behind publishers were in 2012.

A decent read, and an appreciated set of reviews from varying players in the publishing industry. The interviews themselves felt incredibly superficial. In some cases, they felt like self-promotion vehicles instead of an opportunity to teach.

This was an interesting look at the other side of ebooks, and illustrated some of the challenges facing publishers in trying to keep us readers happy.
