Some rules are there to be broken . . .

Ariel and Preston are happily married, and Ariel is determined to keep it that way. Preston is recovering from a stroke, but if he begins to piece together memories of the seventy-two hours prior to his stroke, then he will realize Ariel’s hidden secret. Also privy to Ariel’s exploits, Preston’s secretary Michele has set her sights on a position of power.

But when Preston’s memories start to resurface, will he be able to forgive and forget? Can Ariel ignore her deepest yearnings for the sake of her marriage? And, though bound to secrecy, will Michele honour her pact with Ariel, or stop at nothing to get what she wants?

This was just as great as the first two books in the series, The Black Door and Seduction. I love how Velvet meshes everything so prefectly. She has a real knack for introducing new characters and moving right along with older characters. I also love how she brings the reader right up to speed with each book. I would definitely recommend reading the series in order but they can be read alone which is something any reader can appreciate.
These books go beyond the 'erotica' genre and can be for anyone who loves great, sexy, suspenseful fiction!
I do have to admit that there were a few situations that bordered on surreal. But like I said, they bordered- they crossed no lines. Part of why I like this series so much is because it's so realistic, even the stranger parts could happen. I like to keep it that way and thankfully Velvet didn't get too far off course. This is easily another four star book IMO!

I skipped the 2nd book (which is something I hardly ever do when reading a series) because I HAD to find out what happened with Ariel, Preston, and Trey. Betrayal wasn't nearly as good as The Black Door. It focused too much on Michelle and since I can't stand her, that was disappointing. However, it was interesting enough, so I planned on giving it 3 stars. HOWEVER...I removed 2 stars because of the STUPID CLIFFHANGER ENDING!! What a disappointment!! AND to top it all off, this book was published a while ago so the author clearly has no plans to give her readers a gratifying ending. That's a shame considering how much I enjoyed the first book. And yes, I know there is a 4th book but it has NOTHING to do with Ariel/Preston/Trey/Michelle.

I was not jazzed about this book going into it simply because the second book had completely different characters in it and then just some small recurrences of Ariel and Trey from the first book. This book is the third in the series and picks up where the first book left off randomly. I enjoyed the book honestly but I did find that it was boring in some parts and slow to get into the drama, but nonetheless it hasn't deterred me from wanting to finish out the series. I have yet to check out what the fourth and final book is about and I am wondering if it will be about the couple from the second book Mason and Terra. If it is I cannot understand why the author split each of the couple's stories up, it would make more sense to have the first and second book be about Ariel and Preston and the third and fourth book be about Mason and Terra.

Contains spoilers!!!

This book was a ride. The unravelling secrets between Preston, Ariel, Trey and Michele made for an interesting plot. I did predict that Preston was not going to forgive Ariel once he found out about the truth. I was fearful that he was going to end up with Michele and was very glad when he instead fired her. The spicy scenes are exactly what fans of erotica want — raw, heated, full of longing and guilt. Velvet doesn’t shy from desire, even when it complicates everything. Lastly, the plot twist at the end of Michele being pregnant with either Preston or Laird’s child was completely unexpected and left me wanting more.

Just because I read this book in a day doesn’t mean it was good,it’s exactly worth what I paid for which was 50p, I didn’t like it because the characters were written as one dimensional succubi and incubus’s. Each character is so horny it reminds me of my college and these are supposed to be grown men and women. This book was most definitely written by a man. I do like that the characters are described as many shades of brown and black since many books automatically make everyone Caucasian. If you want to read a book about non stop sex I highly recommend.

🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️/5

I’m glad I’ve been able to see what has happened with Preston and Ariel, but I really hate Michele.
It annoying that I now want to continue and see what happens with her though.

Synopsis:
Ariel and Preston are happily married, but for how long? Once his memory returns, he considers turning to his wife’s nemesis, Michele, for comfort. But will he forgive and forget? Trey and Ariel have buried their feelings for each other, and put the past behind, but their secret pact to keep the truth from Preston reunites them in a newly minted friendship. Will they be tempted to cross the line again? As with the previous Black Door novels, Betrayal is sexy and sophisticated – erotica served straight-up with a twist!

My Opinion:
This book was not like her first black door novel. It wasn’t about desire or passion, but more about, well betrayal. It never became anything more than a story about betrayal. So, it was hard for me to want to read any more of it. But, being the hopeless romantic that I am, I was optimistic about a great ending. Yet, all it did was end. I will read the next in her series and see if it is better. But, so far the first one is the only one I enjoyed.

Okay so there are four books of velvet. I like the first book and then parts of second! But then It was now dragging and I felt like I am watching some soap from Lifetime!

Actually, this book makes me sick! You will know about it when you read it okay. I don't want to spoil some details.

I did not enjoy this book as the first one. This one kept going over to much things that happened in the first book. I was getting a bit bored reading it, but I do not like not finishing a book so I finished it

The authors carnal imagination is too wide and deep~~ for adults only :)
this book doesn't have main character Idk there's just too many character to digest and you'll never had the chance to appreciate someone except Mason. He's really hot just read it okayyy: )
