Open My Eyes, Lord: A Practical Guide to Angelic Visitations and Heavenly Experiences. Long-time pastor, Gary Oates, had a dramatic encounter with God that changed his life and ministry. He was caught up into the Presence of the Lord to see the ministry of angels. Today, he and his wife, Kathi, travel the world using their unique gift of discerning angelic activities to bring salvation, healing, and deliverance.
This book is doctrinally sound but also holds valuable information for the Christian who desires a deeper more intimate walk with Christ. I am happy to have found this book and will put it's suggestions to practice. For those who thirst for the Lord and want a more personal and tangible relationship with the Lord this is the book for you. I will never see Romans 6:13 the same way again.
I considered this book because I'm on a path to know the Holy Spirit and God more intimately. The information given in this book was what I was looking for. I would love more angelic visitations . I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking to become more intimate with Holy Spirit.
In the spring of 2002, while part of a team on a ministry trip in Brazil, and out of a hunger for more of the Lord, Gary Oates had several incredible encounters with the angelic realm. These encounters radically affected him and his pastoral ministry here in the States. The first part of the book is a recounting of those experiences, the remainder is a teaching on how we can each put ourselves in a place to experience our own encounters. For anyone who can’t settle for status quo Christianity, this will ignite a hunger to press forward into the deeper things of God.
Was not a big fan of this book. A very one sided book that can be hard to understand and accept. Read this book if you already have experienced this kind of books or you just want to learn about the charismatic movement and it's theology.
A book detailing the author's experiences of the angelic realm. Easy to read and understand. Cross referenced a lot with passages from the bible.
I think I was expecting more of an step by step instruction of how these experiences happened. I had the feeling that it was written in a way it held back so it would be acceptable to the sort of Pentecostal church teachings and that was why there were so many references back to biblical passages to prove it was from God.
There are a couple of prayers at the back to recite if you want to have your eyes opened to seeing angels.
It is worth a read if you want to find out more about these things.
Great book, loved it and it truly has helped me in a deeper pursuit of relationship with my Savior. Highly recommend this book to anyone!! It is a necessary read for many Christians and those who want a deeper relationship and to truly know Jesus.
Thank you for this book. I long so much for the supernatural and this book has been a powerful instrument in helping me get there. An excellent read for anyone who wants more of God and His Holy Presence.Hallelujah
Wow what a great book on someone's spiritual journey to have a true supernatural relationship with God. Don't let the simple fool you though as you read it. Have your eyes opened by partaking of the true wisdom here!
Definitely a must read if you are ready to go higher in Christ Jesus. Every part of this book ministered to me. I think this is the third time I’ve read it! I value this book Open my eyes Lord, as a resource. Thank you! Much needed teaching.
My biggest take away from the book is something that I've heard alot of people say, you should long for God more than you do for the manifestation of his gifts. In the book, the author encountered God because he kept desiring Him and not the angelic. Interesting read
Loved this book. Practical and honest. Examples from the author’s life and spiritual experiences. Highly recommended for those who are hungry for more heavenly encounters!
While reading this book, I felt such a hungering for an experience of God like he expresses through his stories. You could feel the power of God flow through his words.
I prayed the prayer here and got nightmares and night terrors, immediately almost daily. This was recommended by someone I used to follow on YT that claims to be a seer and prophet. Then later on I learned he was most likely a false prophet. I say use discernment. Get into the Word/Bible and don't fall into signs, visions, and wonders. I almost got lost because of wanting to 'see' when the Word warns us:
Matthew 12:39-40 But He answered and said to them, “An evil and adulterous generation craves for a sign; and yet no sign will be given to it but the sign of Jonah the prophet; for just as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the sea monster, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth."
Matthew 24:24-25 For false Christs and false prophets will arise and will show great signs and wonders, so as to mislead, if possible, even the elect. Behold, I have told you in advance.
I don't deny that God performs signs and wonders. You just have to look at all your answered prayers and everything that He created to know that He still does. I won't say that the story account of the author was false either, but don't seek these things. Seek God, not His signs and wonders, and continually be in the Word.
I don't know what spirit was imparted on this for me to experience almost daily night terrors after reading this, I just say, be careful and use discernment. I almost got lost seeking these things and had to repent for it.
Corey Russell says, “When the two Emmaus Road Walkers see Jesus disappear in front of them, their response is not, ‘Wow! How did he disappear?’” Instead the most striking thing to them about the encounter is that their hearts were warmed while he explained scripture. “More powerful than a vanishing man is a burning heart in the Bible,” Russell claims. Yet, I still love hearing about amazing supernatural experiences, whether relayed to me by friends and acquaintances or strangers, who detail their stories through the printed page. For this reason, I enjoyed Gary’s book, which starts with a prayer, "I want to see beyond the natural. I want to see into the realm of the Spirit."
I have read many books that are similar to this, but somehow this one was able to really impact me! I would say it is worth being called, life changing!
