This volume of the Navarre Bible commentaries sheds light on the four major prophets of the Old Testament: Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, and Daniel. In the language of the Bible, the words prophet, prophecy etc. have quite a broad meaning, but all refer primarily to the idea of speaking in the name of God. While each of these books of the Old Testament is unique in its message, there are three points that they all stress belief in God, the future Messianic age, and ethical and social teaching. About the author

The University of Navarra is a private university located on the southeast border of Pamplona, Spain. It was founded in 1952 by Saint Josemaría Escrivá de Balaguer, the founder of Opus Dei, as a corporate work of the apostolate of Opus Dei.

A tradition based study bible with the RSV-CE (Revised Standard Version - Catholic Edition) translation. It contains multitudes of excerpts from homilies written by such holy men as St. John Chrysostom, St. Jose Marie Escriva, Pope John Paul II, Cardinal Joseph Ratizinger, etc... An in depth compilation of the prominent writings from our Church leaders on the Scriptures. Each book begins with a thorough explanation of the historical, geographical, political, and religious settings of the book and author when it was written.

This was an outstanding study guide. It took some time to work through it but after awhile it was like curling up for a discussion with an old friend.

I used it as support during a class on the prophets; it was more readable and informative than one of the required texts for the class. This book will help you glean the most out of your study of the prophets.
