A forbidden book. A pirate prince. An idea whose time has come.

Gerard and Silveo have made peace with their pasts...or so they think. They've joined the pirates they once hunted and are prepared to leave Wefrivain in quest for a new life. However, an unexpected cry for help brings them unwillingly back into home waters.

The fauns of Maijha Minor are in trouble, and helping them seems like the right thing to do. To succeed, they must circulate Gwain's forbidden book, which tells the truth about the wyvern gods. Gwain himself has already given up the task as hopeless, but Silveo has other ideas. Together, they will get into more trouble than anyone thought possible.

Out of the Ashes is the fourth illustrated book in the Guild of the Cowry Catchers series. This 64,000-word book is DRM-free and carefully formatted. It includes 11 character portraits, 19 full-page illustrations, and 2 versions of the map. Cowry Catchers looks beautiful on a black-and-white viewer, but you can also open this eBook on a color screen to view the illustrations at their best.

I suppose I should have mentioned at some point before in my reviews of this series that it's definitely not for kids. Each book reinforces that point. I swear, each one manages to become more sexually driven than the last! They're not all sex all the time, but even just delving into Silveo's back story would make for an awkward parent-preteen talk.

Ashes was a bit of a bridge book, I see that now. It bridges the gap between what the story *was* and what the story *becomes*. Out of the Ashes brings back Gwain, Basil, Lu, and all the other characters we thought we'd never see again. (It also brought back Gwain's chapter openings, which, after learning more about his book, made me giggle when I read them.)

Like I've come to expect from this series, the book ended on a cliffhanger - nowhere near as frustrating as Flames' cliffhanger, but a pretty obnoxious one nonetheless. Of course, I've got the last book already, so I just continued straight on through to the next one.

With Silveo calmed down a bit, there are some really nice relationships built between him and the other characters. Where he originally was incredibly stand-offish, since the last book he's become a lot more open in his interactions with everybody. This gives him some great dialogue with Gwain, and even shelts he knew before have deeper relationships with him. Perhaps because we're just now really seeing what those relationships were like. As always though, it's him and Gerard that steal the stage.

These books just keep getting better and better, and I'm anxious to see how it all ends.

What I said about Ashes applies to Out of the Ashes as well: "I love this story. It did so many things to my heart - from "ow, my heart" painful moments to ones that felt like glowing hugs." Plus, this book re-added more excitement and more of the deeper plot that had started getting rolling in the first book, through the second, and was much more in the background in the third.

This book hit all the right marks for me, by bringing together the main plot threads and the emotional character and relationship development into an excellently crafted story. I keep enjoying each subsequent book even more than the previous one, and I've thoroughly enjoyed them all.

6 STARS

Once I got to this book i was surprised because I thought the author truly had peaked and at best could expect 5 star action, romance, moments that had me choked up and certainly moments so perfectly written I had to laugh out loud. By the time I finished thi book (3) I just couldn't wait I had to know the whole story to as quickly as I could read it. So I bought books 4 and 5 got some food in me and after reading 3 straight thru I did 4 and 5 the same with only a dinner break and a few dashes to the bathroom. Just have to stay when I finished it was one of the very best book series I have ever read.. the build to the end is awesome, I need at least 6 stars because I the last 2 books were even better than 1 & 2 at 5 stars. so I am just gonna add a bit and say that book 3 gets a 5.5, book 4 gets a 6 and book 5 gets a 6.5, Thank you so very much for one of the best reads of my life. Can't wait to listen to the audio versions of this an enjoy it all over again...

These poor guys just keep getting brought down and brought down. But the ending was pretty good so Im hopeful that their luck will finally be turning around. Im also wondering when Maven will show back up or be mentioned again.

I really liked the story, but at times there were a tiny bit of repetition. I liked books II and III even more. Nevertheless, one of the best audiobooks ever.
