This was a favourite childhood book of mine, and to my children when they were little. One of two books I managed to keep from my childhood. A simple storyline, mother cat goes to town to do some shopping whilst the kittens try to help clear up at home. It all goes a bit wrong but everything works out fine in the end. Really beautiful illustrations tell the story without the need for words, although it does have them. A very lovely book, typical of the ladybird series.

My kids (5 and 3 yrs old) love this book and they have me read it to them over and over again.
It is about 5 little kittens who want to be good and give mommy a surprise by doing all the chores before she gets back home from shopping. But everything goes totally wrong, but when mommy sees how hard they have tried, she is not VERY angry :)
A nice story, with cute illustrations. The story is written in verse form and the kids love having it read aloud to them.

A very dated, but generally benign, little book that tells the story of a group of kittens left in the house for an hour or so while their mother goes shopping. These days she'd be prosecuted, of course.

Charming children's book with lovely illustrations and verses accompanying them. The verses could, perhaps, in one or two cases have been a little bit better but for children they are ideal.
