Mac McManus has everything going for him, but he doesn’t see it that way. All he sees is his limitations. Like his father, Aaron, he is a vampire—forced into the darkness and to sustain himself on blood. He hates himself for what he has become and would rather meet the sun than remain immortal as a vampire or drink from another. It’s not anything he wants his family to know about. He strikes a bargain with his aunt, the Queen, to get what he wants—an end to his suffering. In the bargain he must save a woman, his mate, from another vampire, Zachariah Roberts, a murdering fiend that has been plaguing Mac’s dreams since he turned. But the woman he must save, the one the Queen is making him save has turned out to be more than he bargained for. More than he ever wanted. Brandi Daniel, Andi to her friends, has been on the run for years. Never staying in any one place long, she has managed to stay just one step ahead of her step-father—a cruel man with a nasty temper. Andi has a talent of her own. She can move things with her mind and her step-father thinks he can sell her to a science lab for a quick buck. Andi is caught squatting on Bradley Wolf’s land and is given an ultimatum. She can work off the debt or spend a few days in jail. She figures she’ll make a quick buck and leave before her step-father finds her. She has learned to rely only on herself and isn’t bargaining for a gorgeous overbearing vampire, Mac, stepping in and dictating her every move. A man who can and will fulfill her every fantasy and desire... Mac’s dreams of Zachariah have gotten worse and he knows that Andi is foretold to be one of his victims, but the danged woman won’t stay put. The entire Kiss is banding together to keep Andi safe and it pisses her off in the process. Will an entire Kiss of vampires and an entire pack of werewolves be enough to protect one stubborn human? Has Mac found a new purpose in life? Will either of them live long enough to find out?

If you're like me and have been following the "Aaron's Kiss" series by Kathi S. Barton, then you know 'Son of Our Blood' is the twelfth book. At the time this one takes place Mac is fifty years old and has become tired of being a vampire. It was never anything he wanted. He just wanted to be 'normal' like his brother and sister who could go out during the day or go to the beach, but that wasn't to be. As much as he's begged, hounded, and demanded Mel to let him meet the sun, he has been refused at every point. That is, until he's needed by all, including the Fates, to catch and destroy a vampire that is on a killing spree that has taken one of their own. In doing so, he will be saving not only his mate but her children as well. The reward for this mission? The promise that he will no longer be obligated to live the life he's hated. Now, if you know anything about the Fates, then you know they're rather tricky. Not everything they say is straightforward. In the beginning, I was rather disappointed to find out about Mac's feelings and didn't think I'd like the book but once again Ms. Barton wove a tale I couldn't put down.
Favorite Line(s) The door opened and then Bradley walked in. He took one look at Aaron and burst out laughing. "I do not think this is all that funny any longer young lady. I demand you let me go. Pup you tell anyone about this and I will drain you."
I really loved the opening line to this book because it got right into what was going on. Crazy vamp killing poor girl. I was worried when I started this book that I would be lost since its so far in the series but, I wasn't lost at all! At first I thought Mac (much like Andi did) was being selfish and a big baby. I soon came to understand his sadness. Then he met Andi and that changed. I laughed my booth off at Andi's fearlessness. Macy's family was great! It was just a great story all around! So much so that I will be getting the rest of the series as soon as possible. ONLY thing I didn't like was not knowing the name of a certain baby boy but, I AM HOPING the next book will share it with us. This series has a new fan!
I was given this book to author for an honest review
Mac is the son of Aaron McManus. He does not want to be a night walker, and has asked Mel, the Queen of Magiks”, to let him end his life. She has been refusing him for years. Finally she makes a deal. He saves this person, and catches and kills this vamp, and if he still wants it she will end his life as he knows it. Mac agrees. When he meets Andi, he realizes that she is his mate, but she is being stalked by the vampire that he is supposed to kill as well as her stepfather. Andi has some small power of her own, and when she finally mates with Mac, they are all enhanced. When she saves Skylark, Bradley Wolff’s daughter, she becomes an honorary pack member as well as part vampire. Come see how this wonderful drama plays out. Will Mac and Andi work things out? Will Sara and Aaron accept their new daughter-in-law? Will they ever forgive Mel for not telling them how Mac feels about his life, and that he wants to end it? Come along on this wild ride. I promise as before, you will not be disappointed.
EEK!! Mac got his own story and has he grown up. This series is one I personally adore and always look forward to reading. As Aaron’s realm builds, so does his family. Mac is determined to meet the sun because he refuses to ever feed from a human and that isn’t the life he plans to live. Mac has been dreaming about Zachariah a vampire that goes out of his way to not only feed from his victims but to enjoy the method of his kills and Mac sees it all. Andi works for Wolfe Construction Company as a laborer and has got to work off being caught on the Wolfe property so she can take off and hide from the evil stepfather, Reggie that enjoys his beating on her. When she meets up with Mac, the man of her own dreams, she’s in for the ride of her life. But determined to keep Mac and his family safe from harm, she’s willing to put her own life at risk to protect the ones that have become dear to her own heart.

### About the Author
I woke up one morning and decided to give play time to the people in my head who were keeping me awake. Little did I know that they would be so relentless and want their time right now! I wrote for the pure joy of it and to entertain my family and friends. But mostly it was to get more than an hour of sleep without a story playing out. Of course, the more I write, the more they want. So…well, as a result of sleepless days (I work through the night as a gun toting grandma – nope not a vigilantly but an armed security guard) I have lots of stories written.
Sons Of Our Blood is book 12 in the Aaron's Kiss series and I have to say that I did not read the previous 11 books but I really enjoyed and dare I say loved this book. I will have to read the previous books to really get up to speed but this book as a stand alone is good. I was able to follow the characters and see what was going on.
This is Mac's story and what a story it is. Mac is a Vampire just like his father only he does not want to be. What you say... yes you heard me Mac does not want to be a vampire . He does not like the fact that he has to be in the dark and drink blood constantly to survive. He would rather meet the sun then be a vampire. This of course caught my attention and the more I read about Mac the more I could see where he was coming from. But always looking for a way out Mac decides he will talk to his aunt the queen and see if she can help him out. The queen agrees to help him out on one condition. Mac must free and save his mate.
At first Mac is worried because he really does not know anything about this supposed mate he has but the more he finds out about her the more intrigued he is with her. Only thing is his mate Andi is on the run from Zachariah who is a ruthless vampire and wants Andi for himself. As Mac is searching for Andi she manages to get herself into trouble and gets caught trespassing on Bradley Wolf's property. Bradley gives Andi two choices she can either work her transgression off for him or she can go to jail. Andi chooses to work for him instead. Mac finally being able to catch up with Andi wants to help her but he finds she is strong and wants no help from anyone.
What is Mac to do? Can he save Andi? Will the vampire kisses and the werewolves be able to keep Andi safe? Will Andi let Mac in? Will Zachariah finally get what he wants? This is such a must read story that you will not even realize when you are done with the book because it goes by so fast! Happy Reading :)
Son of Our Blood This book starts with Mac MacManus dreaming he is a vampire killing the girl he is drinking from. Mac is actually a vampire but he has never taken blood from a person much less killed them doing it and he has been having the dream for years but always with different girls and all have turned out to be real. He also is not happy being a vampire and would rather end his life. He is offered a deal that if he will help track down the killer he sees in his dreams then he will be allowed to meet the sun, like anything is ever that simple!
I did really enjoy this book it was well thought out with the two plots combining nicely and it had a really nice light touch, the characters we met were great and quite amusing. The problem for me is that this is book 12 in the series and I kept feeling that there were inside jokes that I wasn't getting and there was a massive cast of characters that was hard to keep track of for a newbie. However it was one of those books that makes you want to go out and find book 1 and start from the beginning rather than never touch another in the series. If you HAVE read any of the others then I sure you would find this a total delight and this is certainly an author that will be going on my wish list!
I'm giving this 4 out of 5 stars just because I'm missing too much knowledge from previous books to know if it really qualifies as awesome! Petra complimentary book given for a free review. juliesbookreview.blogspot.com
Mac McManus has grown up and his turn to find his happiness.
Being a creature of the night is not the kind of life Mac wants. He's been unhappy since his transition and has asked his aunt Mel to end his miserable life. Being a vampire and necromancer, Mac has unique abilities, and one is dreaming about a vampire (who he has never met) killing young women. A bargain strikes between Mel and Mac, he rescues the woman who is to be his mate from the vampire of his dreams and she will grant his wish.
Brandi Daniel (Andi) has moved around to try and stay ahead of her step-father. After suffering years of abuse from him and now the possibility of being sold in a lab, Andi has learned the hard way to not trust anybody. Including the man who has stormed into her life dictating he knows how to protect her and bossing around her every movement.
Neither one is looking for forever. But with a murdering vampire and an angry step-dad in the mists can these two keep their feelings contained and defeat the evil that comes for them? Will the Kiss finally meet a match they can't defeat?
**I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book**
Book 12 - Aaron's Kiss Series --- Mac, who is son to Aaron and Sara, wants to meet the sun even though he has everything going for him. He hates his life because he is a Vampire like his dad. He makes a bargain with his aunt, the Queen, to get what he wants. He has been having nightmares about this vampire killing women. Brandi or Andi to her friends has been running and hiding for years from her stepfather. Brandi is not your ordinary girl and her stepfather wants to sell her to this lab to be cut up and examined. The Queen has Mac save Brandi and she is more than he bargained for. Will he still want to meet the sun after he figures out what Brandi is to him? Can Brandi stay one step ahead of her stepfather? Will they accept each other as mates? another great read.
I had never read a Kathi Barton book before Son of Our Blood. Now that I have read this one, I intend to start at the beginning of this series and read all of them.
By page two, I was hooked. The book started with action, leaving just enough out that I had to turn the page to see what happened next. The story never lagged or skipped over anything important.
Mac and Andi were wonderful characters. I liked them from the start. Andi is no simpering female and I loved that. She’s a heroine I could cheer for.
The sex was HOT! The story was interesting and the characters were great. All in all, I’m giving this 5 stars!
Mac is a vampire necromancer & Aaron's & Sara's 1st born son; he doesn't want to live. Andi is a woman that can do magic with her hands & is trying to stay ahead of her abusive step-father as he likes not only to beat her up but would like to sell her to some scientific facility so that he can make some money off of her abilities. This story was excellent & is a HEA story. There is another evil vampire, as well as the step-father for Mac & Andi to deal with & they do deal with them. There are some sex scenes but they're not too descriptive & of course some of the past characters are in this book too.
What do you get when you pack everything paranormal into one book? A Kathi Barton read. Having not read any of the series, I'm not left wondering what's going on. The author does well with making the reader feel a part of the series no matter which book is picked up. A strong female lead and explosive chemistry between Andi and Mac has the reader begging for more! As with all good books, it seems to end too soon! I love it.
This book and the entire Aaron's Kiss Series has fascinating characters, excitement, action, and romance. They are all easy to follow and flow very nicely. As is every book this author writes. I love how each character has a detailed background and makes in an appearance in other books through out the series. Must read!
Well I must say I loved Mac Story.. He is all grown up.. He is still the charmer.. Mac was not Happy about his life but Mel had ask him to do her a favor .. It was to watch over a woman that had kids little did he know he would find his own mate ..
I really love this series! the way she wrote these books, you got to know the people really good and then when they had children, you got to know them, mac is Aaron and Sara's son and he has been in all the books from being a baby to an adult, this book was his story about finding his mate
I so so so so have waited for this book and despite the fact that The Fate Atropos is being called Athropos in all the books i really loved Mac's book! Hope the Author corrects the mistake.
