The coaching process in sport - what is it? Who is involved? How does it work in practice? The 'coaching process' is both eclectic and multi-disciplinary. It is the coach's role to manage the various parts of the process to form an effective strategy for improving sports performance in the athlete or team. For this unique book, the editors have brought together a team of expert contributors to answer these questions and to share their experiences in coaching, some at Olympic level.

This book had a few highs and, unfortunately, a larger number of lows. I found the first couple chapters to be very interesting and informative. I think this was due to their content being foundational for the rest of the book. At any rate, I found the middle 75% of the book to be very average, if that. Those chapters didn't resonate at all for me and I ended up skipping several of them completely.

I recommend the opening chapters for great insight into what it means to "coach" and into what coaching styles and philosophies are.
