Good story line, but poor writing. The sentence structure was so poor, it was frequently difficult to sort out the topic.

Ok, it's that time again. 'Walker' is the first book in Kathi S. Barton's "Bowen Boys" series. It was released back in April 2013 and I hadn't read it yet. So for those of you who have, then you know what an intriguing shifter romance storyline this book has. For those who haven't, let me assure you of what a great book this is. If you've read the blurb, you know Caitlynne, Lynne, is being deliberately pursued in the woods by two men trying to kill her. As she's trying to hide behind a tree to catch her breath and ease up the pain of her present injuries a large black panther is staring at her. She hears her pursuers approaching and knows they will bring harm to the large cat if she can't think of something quick. So she picks up a rock and throws it before her and the panther run in the opposite direction. When she literally cannot go any further she props herself up by a tree and buries under the leaves with the thought of her perishing by the panther or the Ingram brothers. She's hoping the panther. Walker Bowen is a werepanther, a doctor, and the second oldest of the Bowen boys. He's the one called to come to check on the woman who saved his father's life. With all the blood everywhere it's not hard for Walker to realize this human is his mate but with his father retiring and his older brother, Khan, becoming the leader of their group, Khan has forbidden her to be on the property much less helping her. If you know anything at all about Kathi S. Barton's writings, then you know she always has headstrong, resilient characters with personality flaws that make them completely relatable. The villain is always a little off-kilter mentally with a skewed sense of logic. This storyline is no different. There's intrigue, mystery, murders, deception, disloyalty, and yet it's filled with the love of family, loyalty, love, and protection. I loved the story and am excited to finish this new to me series.

Shifters, It's my weakness. I can't get enough of them, Wolves, Bears, Cats, Tigers, I mean anything and I'm a goner, lost in a fantasy story for hours.
The Bowen boys have kept me entertained for quite some time and since reading this series, I found other books by this Author that are a must read. I love it when I find a complete new series to lose myself in.

How to describe Walker Bowen? He's handsome, okay strike that, he's beyond handsome, he's a doctor, popular amongst the locals and he's a shifter. Yep, there's going to be one very lucky lady, well if he ever finds his mate. Unfortunately none of the Bowen boys have ever found their mate, the one person that holds the other half of them and makes them feel complete.

A woman called Caitlynne McCray enters the Bowen's family life after nearly being killed. Walker obviously realises that this woman means more to him, but his brother, Khan doesn't like humans and since he is the leader of his pack, they will abide by his rules, pffff! He got my back up the instant he spoke. Walker is a good man and doesn't want to hurt his brother but if Caitlynne is his mate he will protect her with everything he has.

Caitlynne McCray is no push over, this woman is feisty much to Khan's dismay. She works for the FBI or is it the CIA, okay, either way she seems to be everywhere, she doesn't trust easy unless you're the President and even then it's no easy feat getting her to open up. She lives a dangerous life and doesn't want the Bowen's to become collateral damage. So for their sake she needs to move on and out of their lives. Yeah good luck with that. Seriously if a shifter knock on my door now, I'd be gone. Bags packed and ready to live the life of a shifters mate which involves being loved like never before, the sex is like having an outer body experience, the instinct to protect is so great. What have these women got to complain about? LOL!!

I loved the characters in this book, from the parents to all the Bowen boys. If you love shifter romances then you definitely need to check out this series.

This is an amazing story about werepanthers and a government agent named Lynne - Walker can't believe that he has finally found his mate in the middle of this action packed mystery surrounding Lynne -- plenty of action in and out of the bedroom and absolutely love the way that Lynne puts all the werepanthers in their place -- can't wait for Khan to get his own story - would highly recommend this to all

I really enjoyed the first book in this series, and looking forward to the next.

I have never read a book about shifting and was curious to find out how it would work in a romance novel. I really can't wait to start reading about the next brother and his mate.

An interesting story. It felt disjointed at times. The story would take a jump to the left, and then a step to the right. I can't quite explain it. I'm still reading the next one, though.

I just loved what a strong heroine Caitlyn was. So refreshing to have a female lead who really could kick a** and not worry about taking names. Totally capable and in a high echelon of a specialist job category with a respect and bond to a world leader.
Caitlyn also took no crap from Khan and was equal to smacking him down.
Loved Walker and how he was willing to stand up to Khan.
Great family but I had forgotten how terrible Khan is in this first book.
I read and reviewed this book years ago but reviews posted from back of book are missing.

Who knew running for her life would lead Caitlynne to the one person who could give her life meaning?

Caitlynne McCray has the kind of job that not everyone can do. She can't even begin to imagine a man wanting to stand by her side, knowing she can protect them both better than anybody ever could. But Walker Bowen isn't one to just walk away even when his brother has forbidden him from seeing her.

**"You poor thing. So much love could be yours but for the hatred of another of your kind. She hurt his brother and now..."**

From the moment Walker Bowen sniffed out Caitlynne to help her he's known she is his mate. But because another human has hurt their leader, Caitlynne unknowingly is putting a strain on the family. Will Walker be able to help him see not all humans are like the one that hurt him? Or will Caitlynne's past come back and hurt them all?

Caitlynne and Walker are a really great couple together.
She tends to be on the more serious side, while Walker is able to always break up tension with his humor.

**"I love you, Caitlynne. More than I ever dreamed possible, I love you. Beside, the alimony to you would kill me."**

**I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book**

Caitlynne McCray is one serious Bad Ass, she is one of those female characters that make you want to grow up and be her. Walker Bowen is not quite as Alpha as Catilynne, but he knows how to make her purr. This was a fast moving storyline with a lot of things going on so it is easy to get distracted. Each distraction has a purpose tying multiple events together and establishing the depth of Catilynne's character. Being introduced to Walkers family was quite entertaining, Kahn is the Alpha and he does not like humans. His animosity toward Caitlynne made for some interesting interactions between the family and between him and Caitlynne. The main focus was not really on the shifter aspect of the storyline but on Caitlynnne and her job. The shifter element seemed to be second but not forgotten. It was seamlessly interwoven blending the two elements into an amazing tale. This book had lots of action, some interesting twists and was an exciting read. I look forward to book 2 as Kahn's story should be lots of fun.

I was given and ARC for an honest review

Excellent!

I've read this book before; but wanted to read it again because this author's books have everything that I love in a book &/or series. Walter's & Caitlynne's story has a good vs bad plot; somewhat explicit sex scenes & was fast paced & exciting to read. Caitlynne is a strong woman who can take care of herself & everyone she cares about & when she & Walker 1st met she was injured & unconscious & human. Walker didn't have a problem with that but his older brother Khan did & he had told Walker that he couldn't mate her. This is a HEA story; but the book can be read as a standalone. However, you will want to read the series because its excellent!

Wow, this was a different and exciting cat shifter PNR.

Instead of the male cat shifter being the badass alpha, we have a no-nonsense CIA operative heroine. One who likes guns, explosions and has a "wealth" of experience.

Our cat shifter, Walker, is a doctor and quite capable but no-where near as kickass as Caitlynne. Caitlynne is a little paranoid following the takedown of the VP on gunrunning charges.

Really enjoyed this story, probably the 2nd half more than the 1st, but that is fairly usual with the start of a new series.

This book was artfully crafted and uniquely designed to pull you into the pages where secrets and fairytales live and dreams come true for those who believe!

Book was enchanting, enthralling and endlessly entertaining where stubbornness and determination to rise above conflict with core of steel to get to w where the love and happiness lives! I don't think you can ask for more than that in life except for God's grace to cover you!

Walker has one of the kindest hearts. I very much enjoyed this introduction to the Bowen Boys and family. At this point in time, I find myself not liking Walkers brother Khan. He is a real ass. The lengths Walker will go to stay with Caitlynne are admirable. I hate to give away a story, so this is short and to the point. If you want a good read and you are wanting a odd love story with some intrigue, then you will love Walker.
I was give an ARC in exchange for a honest review.

I never reviewed this book when I read it the first time. I just read it again for the second time!! I have to say that Kathi S. Barton is one of my favorite authors when it comes to paranormal romance. I think that Walker and Lynne are perfect for each other. I also love how even though Lynne starts out being in trouble she is a strong female. This is actually my first review ever and I hope that it good. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who loves paranormal romance!!

Fantastic and fun

Like aloNe Barton's books her lead female character is are In and knows how to lead. This one she is smart and willing to get things done. I loved how she kicked Megan's butt. And most of all how she stayed ahead of the villains of which there were many.
