'Khan' is the second book in Kathi S. Barton's "Bowen Boys" series and if you remember from book one, Khan DOES NOT have that warm and fuzzy personality. No, even though he's come to love his sister-in-law Caitlynne, he's put himself into a self-imposed exile ever since she told him his mate would be human and put him through the paces. Khan doesn't want a mate and definitely doesn't want her to be human. Caitlynne wasn't clairvoyant by any means but her prediction had scared the stew out of him. Marc and Reed have become vile towards each other with their continual fighting for over a week. Monica had originally been hired to answer phones and do the filing for Marc until she had solved a case within fifteen minutes after being hired that Marc and his investigators had been working on for weeks. He immediately made her one of his investigators. The mayor had asked Marc and his team to help with an investigation and since Monica needed backup Marc went himself. She's been beaten and Marc takes her to Walker. Marc knows she's not his mate but he feels protective of her like he feels towards Caitlynne. Evidently, Monica has a stalker that continues to put her in harm's way, and even when she moves he somehow manages to find her EVERY TIME. Monica knows the situation could put the Bowen family in danger and wants to leave immediately but, believe it or not, Khan forbids it. Made me wonder whether the man would ever learn! This storyline is just as strong and compelling as book one with all the action, adventure, fear, shock, and awe that Kathi S. Barton brings to her stories. But then we also get love, loyalty, friendship, compassion, and empathy from this family. I can't wait to read Dylan's story with all the surprises he revealed in this one.

I didn't much care for the choppy conversations and the banter between the people. The story didn't flow well and the book seemed unreal. How can someone be constantly covered in blood and pass out for long lengths of time and not be caught. I didn't think Khan and Monica had chemistry and Khans pissy attitude was a total bore. He'd been hurt before by a psycho and so had Monica but you don't see her acting out. I was real disappointed in this book and I paid to read it. It sounded good but wasn't worth what I got. I wanted to not finish but I made myself because I actually paid for it.

A very interesting tale but a couple of things were not acceptable to me.
Khan screws it up as was expected.
A very interesting tale involving a rabid psycho stalker but has a couple of things happen I was not happy with which bought my enjoyment way down.
Beginning and the end were great, with a very extreme plot but a few things were just a bit too unbelievable and weird for me.
Khan is an absolute nasty as we knew he would be but I just couldn’t get my head around the first sex scene and how he treats Monica. A bit too brutal considering everything she has been through. The fact she doesn’t stop him is down to her but doesn’t ring true after the previous trauma she has endured.
Monica was brutalised a few years ago by her stalker and since then has been on the run for her life.
Monica is working for Marc as an investigator and Marc turns up just as she is being attacked. Marc thinks it is her boyfriend and calls in Walker, his doctor brother to look after her.
Caitlyn takes Monica under her protection and everything escalates from there.
Monica is Khan’s mate and things get even more volatile.
What I cannot get my head around is Khan’s atrocious behaviour.
Once he stops fighting the mating pull and even knowing Monica has been badly beaten and is recovering, he is so overcome with mating lust, that he basically forces himself on her with no finesse.
Then we get something really disturbing at the end of the book. In his cat shifter form, Khan is licking Monica’s human form to orgasm. This was just way too uncomfortably close to something else for my liking.
If these two things were rewritten it would improve this book tremendously.
I read and reviewed this book years ago but reviews posted from back of book are missing.
After reading this book again I remembered why it has been years since I picked up this series to reread.

Got to love this guy. As much as he's a pain and bossy and wants everything done his way, he's just so... you know. Grrr!! He doesn't want a mate, if you read book one you will know he hates humans. Aww bless, he's in for quite a shock.
Although he can be quite difficult at times, he is very protective of his family and anyone who is close to them. He will protect them with his life, him and his Cat, he's a shifter, a very impressive shifter.

The Bowen boys are all very close and help each other out, if one has a problem the rest of the family is there to help. Mostly no questions are asked because they are rarely needed unless it's to do with one of them finding a mate. When Marc's employee is hurt, he wants to take care of her. Nope, it's not his mate, but she sure is Khan's.

Khan is about to have his whole life turned upside down. Poor guy has been stuck in his ways for so long it's hard to change, but he definitely needs some adjusting if he's ever going to have a chance at keeping his mate. Monica may have been stalked and beaten by her ex but she's no push over.
Khan is desperate to keep Monica safe, with the ex, Tony is doing all he can to find her, anything can happen. It's an intense time for all of them especially Khan.

This is another brilliant shifter romance. I love the excitement that comes with reading these stories. The men being so alpha and protective. The woman although damsels in distress are tough and loving, just what these brothers need. The parents are comical, George is a hoot and very much involved in all their children lives.

If you love Shifter romance this is a must read. I am working my way through every shifter book this Author has, LOL!! True fact. I think I will be kept busy for quite some time.

"Khan Bowen doesn’t want a mate, especially a human one. He pushes her away at every turn. But…no matter how hard he tries, he can’t seem to let her go."
Having been introduced to Kahn in book 1 of this series, I knew right away this was going to be fun. The fact that it is so easy to push his buttons is really funny. Having it predicted he would have a human mate, Kahn is running scared. Karma , fate, destiny or what ever you want to call it will not be denied and of course you have to add in Caitlynne as she herself is a great force. The more Kahn struggles with having a human mate, the more he acts like a jerk. His mate, Monica is being targeted by a madman, while she might seem skittish she has no problem letting Kahn know when he is out of line. I thought the interactions between the family were fun and amusing. The crazy madman was another thing all together. How he managed to be free so long without being spotted was a stretch but it added to the suspense and fit in well with the storyline. I was glad Kahn got a human for a mate and she was strong enough to stand up to him. I am enjoying getting to know the Bowen family and I look forward to seeing what brother will meet his match next.

Out of all the Bowen Boys books, Khan was probably my least favorite of all the brothers.

Although I can understand Khan's hesitancy about mating a human, I just didn't like that he kept throwing up his pain from Rosann's deception as an excuse to be an a$$. Monica has been stalked and forced to from place to place because a psycho set his sights on her, but not once has she treated anybody else with less respect or like crap.

But Monica doesn't just roll over and let Khan boss her around. She gives as good as she gets. The perfect mate for the leader of their group of panthers.

**"And in case you didn't notice, I'm a big girl and can make decisions on my own without the help of a big man. Why don't you go back to the cave you came from and leave me the hell alone?"**

I'm not sure if the book mentions what Tony (the psycho stalker) suffers from, but I'm not sure how he was able to get out of the "special places" he was if he constantly was blacking out like he was. I'm not even sure what he was suffering from either...

**I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book**

Karma can really kick you in the rear... and Kahn probably still has a bootprint on his! As you may remember from "Walker", Kahn is obsessively against finding a mate - especially if she is human. No surprise... but yes, his mate is human. Thankfully we still hear from Caitlynne (Walker's mate) as she tends to bring a lot of kick ass levity to all the goings on. There are also stories of the mating & early years of Corinne & George; we learn more about another brother, Dylan; and there is a happily-ever-after. Along the way we realize that not only is Khan's mate human... but she has special abilities that are triggered by the mating.

Be warned - this is not a book for the faint of heart. There is violence against women; smoking hot sex; and a smidge of bestiality.

Also be prepared to think a bit. During the middle to the end of the book the editing drops off a bit. There are incorrectly named characters and an overabundance of pronouns -- so you really have to think to follow who the "he" and "she" are throughout the paragraphs.

When Khan's sister-in-law predicted he would meet his mate soon, Khan retreated to the safety of his home. Khan didn't want a mate, especially not a human one. Monica Preston has been running for awhile from a man who she never even had a relationship with, the man is demented and has been brutal with her and this time she is not sure she will survive if she is caught again.

Khan feels bad for his mate, but he doesn't want a relationship with her. As his protective instinct kicks in though, Khan realizes that he is falling for his mate. Monica though got the message loud and clear, not wanting or trusting Khan as well. When Khan decides to make up for the error of his ways and win Monica's heart, he begins to win her over but can he keep her safe?

Pretty good story, Khan was pure jerk in the beginning but once he clues in he wins you over. I liked Monica, since I had not read the first book I did have some questions that filtered into this story. Going to have to go back and read the first book.

Loved It!

Khan & Monica's story starts off with lots of excitement & ends in lots of excitement; Monica gets
severely beat up by her stalker ex-boyfriend who is also insane & because she works for Marc (one of the brothers) the family gets involved. When Khan 1st meets her he tries to deny that she's his mate & when he's not in denial he tries to tell her what to do (which doesn't go over very well with her. During one of those times Caitlynne not only helps her escape but also takes Monica with her to Washington, D.C. to try to make Khan fess up his feelings towards Monica & it works. But, their time in Washington isn't all fun & roses when the insane ex-boyfriend stalker shows up in Washington & starts killing women who look like Monica. You will need to read the book to find out more because I'm now off to read book 3 in this series.

My first introduction of Khan had me not liking him at all. His story finally completely comes out in this book and I started feeling sorry for him. By the time I was 3/4 of the way through, I liked him a lot and had a good laugh at his expense several times. The humor and suspense kept me reading throughout the day and I finished in record time. I can hardly wait to see what Kathi Barton odes with the rest of the family!

I was given an ARC in exchange for a honest review.

This is the second book in the Series of the Bowen Brothers -- Khan hates humans because of one girl - when he meets his "mate" and finds out she is human he vows to hate her but instead falls madly in love with her - would definitely recommend this series to everyone -- thank you Kathi Barton for a great book - can't wait to read more about the Bowen Brothers

This was a very enjoyable story. I loved the concept and the storyline and I loved the characters. The beginning chapters were very comfusing for me, it took awhile to get a handle on it probably because I never read book 1 first and some parts felt a bit rushed at times. Saying all that I still really enjoyed it!
