Like the other members of the newly formed Spartoi unit, Maka and Soul undergo rigorous training, probing the boundaries of Soul's hard-won new potential as a weapon. Maka's soul perception ability has made her the enemy's next target, and she and Soul will have to kick it up to a whole new level-and fast! Noah and his followers are coming, ready or not!!
Atsushi Ōkubo ( 大久保篤), also romanized as Atsushi Ohkubo, is a Japanese manga author and fantasy artist known for his work on the manga series Soul Eater, which has been adapted into an anime. Okubo worked as an assistant under Rando Ayamine, on the manga series Get Backers. He also created artwork for various cards for the Lord of Vermillion game.
Atsushi Ōkubo was not a model student and was more attracted to drawing than to learning. At the age of 20, after finishing studies at a manga school where he met Rando Ayamine, the author of Get Backers, he became Rando Ayamine's assistant for two years. Finally, he won a competition at Square Enix's Gangan magazine with his first manga series B.Ichi and it was published for four volumes. After the end of his last manga, he created Soul Eater, still for Square Enix's Gangan magazine, which brought him worldwide success.
After soul becomes a death sycthe Maka apparently has a soul that has wings meaning she can use soul to fly She wants to have angel wings but it’s slowing them down While practicing eibon sends one of his accomplices Gopher Maka is able to beat him Afterwards Kilik with both pots, the Thompson sister, Kim, and Jackie go to Medusa’s lair to find items in eibons book But when they leave the towns people are overcome by madness and attack Once escaped there’s one of Medusa’s work Black clown The group does a soul resonances and is able to beat the clown
Soul Eater, Vol. 16 continues where the previous tankōbon left off and contains the next five chapters (63–67) of the on-going manga series.
While testing her new flying ability made available through Soul Evans' powers as a Death Scythe, Maka Albarn learns that she is now considered to be a valuable asset to her enemies and will be hunted, which is made clear when she is attacked by Noah's servant Gopher, whom she manages to defeat.
Later, Kilik Rung, Kim Diehl, Liz and Patty Thompson retrieve Medusa's research notes in her old laboratory, briefly encountering and fighting off a black clown manufactured by Medusa. Meanwhile Black Star seeks out Medusa's hideout and encounters Crona.
This tankōbon is written and illustrated by Atsushi Ōkubo. It is a transitional tankōbon, but a welcomed one as the previous arc was a rather long one. It mainly explored the new powers of Maka Albarn now that Soul Evans is now a Death Scythe. The last two chapters has characters explore Medusa's hideout to ascertain her whereabouts.
All in all, Soul Eater, Vol. 16 is a wonderful continuation to a series that seems really intriguing and I can't wait to read more.
¨Surely you get lonely here all on your own? Perhaps the stiffened corpses of your friends would help stimulate your neurotic little mind?¨ Soul Eater se puso Seinen (?)
The Soul Eater anime is what got me back into the medium. I grew up watching Sailor Moon and Pokémon, but when I grew into a tween, I said I didn’t like anime in order to fit in with other kids at school. Kids are going to be shitty to each other whether they like it or not, so my efforts were fruitless. By the time I was a senior in high school, I stopped trying to make myself palatable to others and focused on being happy. Took me a bit, but getting back into the stuff I really enjoyed helped a lot with self-acceptance. Soul Eater isn’t the best anime OR manga, but it was instrumental in allowing myself to like things that I like.
I liked the show, but its disappointing Power of Friendship ending directed me towards the manga. Overall, I’d say the 25-volume series is better, even though it diverts pretty hard from the anime about halfway through. The end of the anime focused more on the Kishin’s threat to the school. The end of the manga however focused on the corruption of Justin and Stein and Maka’s effort to learn Genie Hunter. I liked the manga more, but the resolution of the series goes from Maka learning one slash to her learning, well, a bigger slash. My biggest criticism of Shonen series is its reliance on tropes.
What I like about both series is the resonance part of the story. I’ll admit that Soul Eater stands out from other series like Blue Exorcist because of its fun worldbuilding and rules. The meister-weapon pairings are all about characters with differences coming together to confront their world’s problems. While I think the manga explores this more than the anime, it still has some of the same filler pitfalls that other series do. I think the gender-swap escapade that gives Blackstar tits embodies this more than anything else. Still, I recommend Soul Eater to anyone who wants a solid, above average manga with some flaws.
So soul is now a death scythe so that means, new powers and more training. Apparently they can fly now so that means agreeing to what kind of wings and that's one of the things they argue about.
However, because Maka made soul into a death scythe, that means she's a powerful enemy to Noah. So he sends one of his servants, gopher, to kill her.
The battle takes in the air so I'm glad Maka and soul got over the details of flying to defeat gopher.
Kilik, kim, Liz and patty go on a mission to look through Medusa's old lab to see what they can learn. They are attacked by a black clown that was manufactured by Medusa as a test run.
Black star and tsubaki go out to seek Medusa's hideout and run into crona.
Tension went up with crona since we saw her get reborn or something to that effect so this battle will be interesting
Onto the next book.

Don't mind me, I'm just casually re-reading the entire manga for the 5th time or so because A) it's one of my comfort series and I need all the comfort I can get right now, B) I own the entire thing physically so it's right there, and C) everyone is talking about fall/ Halloween reads and SE fits that to a T.
Gonna give all the volumes 5 stars as a default. There's plenty I could complain about if I wanted, namely the unnecessary fanservice/ weird sexualization of teen characters, but I'm not gonna do that right now. It pops up rarely enough that I can just pretend it doesn't exist.
Oh my lanta was Maka super annoying in this volume. I went from thinking she was such a bad ass, and then at the beginning of this volume she became such a whiny little brat. Luckily she got it together a bit... but ugh I wanted to punch her in the face.
It was super bad ass being able to see Kilik's demon pots in Shaman form. Super righteous!!
I can't wait to see what happens with Crona next volume!
Finally the fight against Arachnophobia is over, despite the fact that Medusa is found to be a traitor, I am glad that the characters came out unscathed. I can't wait to see what will happen in the next manga.
After a 6 month hiatus on this series, I've finally started up this series again. I'm happy to see that I really liked it, even though I didn't remember what the hell happened int he last volume. All I know is this one had a great flow to it and the artwork didn't muddle the fighting scenes. Maka and Soul are still badasses together and apart. I'm still hoping for a little romance between the two of them.
We get some advancement with the villains as Noah sends one of his members to kill Maka and we learn that Medusa has also been experimenting with insanity as we see first hand how it affects normal people. Honestly the story of them uncovering parts of Medusa's research was really cool as it feels a bit like the village parts of Resident Evil 4 as ordinary people attack the team. Also it is pretty cool we learn more about Death Scythe and the clowns.
I like the new look that this volume is setting up. The interaction of the characters and plot feels a little forced, but it's the start of a new arc so it's to be expected. The artwork definitely continues to improve and some of the panels are so pretty (especially where Kid is involved haha)
STFU THIS IS GETTING CRAZY. WVERYTHING FROM HERE ON OHT MUST BE DIFFERENT THAN THE ANIME IM SO EXCITED !!!! im pisssseeddddd that medusa turned crona over to the madness I need him to go to maka so she can help himmmmmmm. I can’t even with all the craziness happening rnnnnnn
Pretty awesome series, I love most of the main characters! The story’s alright but still very enjoyable tho I think I prefer the anime much more😁👌⚔️📖❤️
