A must read from Muhammad Bashher. തീവ്രമായി പ്രണയിച്ചവർ തീര്ച്ചയായും വായിചിരികേണ്ട ഒന്ന്.

What am I supposed to write about this novel? What can I say that will probably do any justice to it? Basheer's writing is the kind that fills one with immense hope and laughter - two things that are needed during the darkest of hours. This lockdown has unleashed different shades of mental health issues in most of us. And the same can be said about myself. The day I picked the volume out of my bookshelf to read this particular piece, I was almost losing it. I won't say this novel saved me. But it gave a tiny source of light to pass through the dark tunnel.
There is something about Basheer's love stories that makes him liked by most of the people who read Malayalam literature. In this particular piece he speaks about caste, gender, religion (especially the hindu-muslim conflict), sex, lust, art and communism - in such a light and yet profound manner. The book had me laugh out loud. It had me gasping for air because certain portions reminded me of things I would rather not think about. But most importantly, it had me thinking about art and the agency of it.
I have said this before, and I still stand by it. Basheer gives me the confidence to interact with Malayalam in a manner that no other Malayali writer does (with the exception of Kamala Surrayya). I shall stop right here, as abruptly as the novel did.

വൈക്കം മുഹമ്മദ് ബഷീറിന്റെ മറ്റൊരു പ്രണയകഥ. പ്രണയലേഖനത്തിൽ നിന്നും മതിലുകളിൽ നിന്നും വ്യത്യസ്തമാണോ എന്ന് ചോദിച്ചാൽ വ്യത്യസ്തമാണ് എന്നാൽ അല്ല താനും. ഇവിടെ കഥാനായകൻ ബഷീറും നായിക അയൽപക്കത്തെ സരസ്വതിദേവിയുമാണ്. അവരുടെ പ്രണയവും അത് വീട്ടുകാർ അറിയുമ്പോൾ ഉണ്ടാകുന്ന കോലാഹലങ്ങളും യുക്തി പൂർണമായ തീരുമാനങ്ങൾ എടുക്കാൻ അവരെ പ്രേരിപ്പിക്കുന്നു. ഇത് ജീവിതത്തിൽ വഴിത്തിരിവുകൾ ഉണ്ടാക്കുന്നു. വായിച്ചിരിക്കേണ്ട ബഷീറിന്റെ മറ്റൊരു നല്ല രചന.

പ്രേമികാത്തവർ ആയി ആരുംതന്നെ ഉണ്ടാകില്ല.. അതുപോലെ അദ്ദേഹത്തിനും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു ഒരു പ്രണയം... അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ പഴയ ഓർമ്മ കുറിപ്പുകൾ എല്ലാം കൂടി ചേർത്ത് അദ്ധേഹത്തിന്റെ പ്രഥമ ശിഷ്യനായ എം. ടി സാർ പബ്ലിഷ് ചെയ്ത പുസ്തകം ..

ബഷീർ ജീവിച്ചിരുന്ന കാലഘട്ടത്തിലെ എഴുത്തുകൾ താരതമ്യം ചെയുമ്പോൾ പഴമയുടെ ഒരു തരി പോലും തട്ടാതെ ആധുനിക എഴുത്ത് എന്ന് വിശേഷിപ്പിക്കാവുന്നതാണ് ബഷീറിന്റെ ഓരോ സൃഷ്ടിയും. കാമുകന്റെ ഡയറി എന്ന പേരിൽ ആദ്യം ഇറങ്ങിയ ഈ നോവൽ ഒരു കാമുകന്റെ വികാര വിചാരങ്ങളെ ഒരു മറയും കൂടാതെ വിവരിക്കുന്നു. ബഷീറിന്റെയും ദേവിയുടെയും പ്രണയത്തിന്റെ മനോഹര്യത അതിലെ രതിയുടെ അതിപ്രസരത്തിൽ മാത്രമല്ല, രണ്ടു പേരുടെ ജീവിതത്തിന്റെ പല തട്ടിലുള്ള വൈകാരിക തലങ്ങളെ പൊള്ളയായി കാണിച്ചു തരുകയാണ് എഴുത്തുകാരൻ ഇവിടെ.
എന്ത് കൊണ്ട് അനുരാഗത്തിന്റെ ദിനങ്ങൾ എന്ന ഈ സൃഷ്ടി നമ്മെ അലട്ടുന്നു? ചിലപ്പോൾ നമ്മളും പ്രത്യക്ഷമായോ പരോക്ഷമായോ ഈ സാഹചര്യങ്ങളിൽ കൂടെ കടന്നു പോയിരിക്കാം. കാമപരവശയായി സ്വന്തം ഇണയെ ആലോചിച്ചു നമ്മളും നേരം വെളുപ്പിച്ചിരിക്കാം.
കത്തുകൾ വഴി പങ്കിടുന്ന ചിന്തകൾക്കും അവ തരുന്ന കാത്തിരിപ്പുകൾക്കും ഒരു പ്രേത്യേക രസമാണ്. ആ സമയത്തെ വികാര വിചാരങ്ങൾ ആണെല്ലോ നമ്മൾ അതേപടി കത്തുകളിലോട്ടു പകർത്തുന്നത്, ആ ഒരു നിമിഷം കഴിഞ്ഞു പോയാൽ ചിലപ്പോൾ നമ്മുടെ മനസ്സ് ശൂന്യമാകും. ഈ പുസ്തകത്തിൽ എഴുത്തുകാരന്റെ വിവരണം അല്ലാതെ ഭൂരിഭാഗം കഥ കത്തുകളിലൂടെയാണ് പറഞ്ഞു പോകുന്നു. ഓരോ കത്തിന്റെയും മറുപടിയും അതിനായുള്ള കാത്തിരുപ്പും ഒരു വായനക്കാരൻ എന്ന നിലയിൽ എന്നെ ത്രില്ല് അടിപ്പിച്ചു എന്ന് പറയാതെ ഇരിക്കാൻ വയ്യ.
നിനക്ക് എന്നെ ഉമ്മ വെക്കണ്ടേ? നിനക്ക് കാമവികാരവിചാരങ്ങൾ ഒന്നും ഇല്ലേ എന്നു ബഷീർ ദേവിയോട് ചോദിക്കുമ്പോൾ, ‘ അത് എല്ലാ പെണ്ണുങ്ങൾക്കും innate ആയി ഉള്ളതല്ലേ എന്ന് പറയുന്നിടത്ത് ദേവിയുടെ മനസ്സ് നമുക്ക് കാണാൻ സാധിക്കുന്നു.

A kind of typical intercaste relationship but being a unique writer basheer its very interesting;since it was taken from the realities that happened for the author himself from the book called KAMUKANTE DIARY .It unfolds the secret relationship he had with a young girl of another religion named Saraswathi Devi.Throughout the book he addresses devi as a"SWEET SAD POEM"..at the first sight he was eroted to Saraswathi Devi .Saraswathi as the name suggest she was a woman of wisdom in addition to that she was great fan of Basheer.The story reveals how both of them get attached gradually with each other.The character of Devi is well explained how she choose to be a women of her choice and how the fate of attachment with her mother makes her to choose a different way that she has never expected.Its a good story of how fantasy remains and realities take charge of our life through the norms of religion, society,culture and fate.Its well explained plot of fate

സരസ്വതിദേവി ബഷീറിലെ കാമുകനിലേക്കു കടന്നു വന്നത് ഒരു വിസ്മയം പോലെയാണ്. ഒരു വിസ്മയമായി അകന്നു പോകുകയും ചെയ്തു. നമ്മുടെ ജീവിതത്തിലും ഇങ്ങനെ വിസ്മയങ്ങൾ ഉണ്ടാവാറുണ്ട്.

'Anuragathinte dinangal' is one of the most celebrated work of the famous Malayalam author Vikom Muhammed Basheer. It is the collection of love letters wrote under the tittle 'Kamugante dairy'. The original tittle for the novel is suggusted by master M.T Vasudevan Nair after intending it to publish.
The main protagonist is author himself like entire other works of the author. The story is very simple, however the importance of the topic the author is trying to bring forward in the novel is very complicated to be resolved by issue of caste, religious, social and economic factors that was existing at that particular point of time in Malabar.
One day author met Saraswati Devi, a girl from Nayar family which strictly practices its tarawad(family) etiquetee. Devi knows the author alreay from her prior readings of author's main works. She is very mordern and involving in various social and cultural activities both at collage and in society. Their love start after she recieved help from author to prepare elucation about the topic 'combined education'. Quite often they exchanges views and perspectives of the mordernist works in liltrature, that gradullay ended up with hotly debate in opposing manner.
Meanwhile the author really loves Devi and write many love letters to her. At first Devi refused the love of author for many reason. Caste and religous issue is main one and anyone from her family neither support for inter caste marrieage nor she does not want to face the consequenses of such kind in her life. At the end, they love each other and again when all those issues become so prominant, they decide to part apart.
The other side of the story is destroying family of Devi. A patriarcal ambiance of Devi's family is clearly picturesqued. Father and elder brothors are not in their stand to promote both intellectual and proffesional growth of this melancholic Devi. She was disappointed in her life just because she does not have anything from her family, eventhough she belonged to wealthy Nair family.
In short it is a real and extraordinary love story recieved many appreciation. It is difficult to believe that this is the product of pure imagination as some one tries to establish, however most incidents in the story is as real as love itself can be easly delineated from the novel.
