Reading my bio, huh?
Real life sucks. I bet you feel like that sometimes, maybe even right now. That’s why I write fantasy. I need to escape depression, bitterness, bills, illness…I could go on, but you get it. In the pages of fiction, I can slay the dragons, triumph over the bad guys, be immortal, and never struggle with love handles. For a short time, I can let it all go, and be everything I can’t be in real life. Maybe you’re hurting right now. Maybe you’re in the waiting room of the hospital, or just stuck in traffic. I’ve brought a portal. Come with me…Let’s ditch this crappy popsicle stand and go somewhere great, where we can forget all this, at least for a while.
That’s why I write. I’m not an author, I’m an escape artist.

I loved this!

THIS REVIEW INCLUDES A FULL CHARACTER MAPPING - IN THE HOPES THAT A THIRD BOOK MIGHT BE ON THE WAY.
(and I apologize in advance for repeating some of the things I said in my review of Forbidden Forest)

Legends of Regia has the potential to be an amazing Epic Fantasy series! The world of Regia is full of complex societies – Elves, Shifters, Werewolves, and Vampires (plus various crossbreeds and spirits). Each have their own ideals and customs which weave a detailed narrative even before one considers the multitude of individual characters (who are fully developed with political aspirations, sometimes scheming, and generally suffering from some sort of emotional upheaval).

I find this richly developed world to be highly entertaining and well crafted. It's a series which leaves me both happily sated and starving for more.

I adore Forest (I'm a sucker for badass female leads) Forest's struggle to find her place in society is relatable, even in this high-fantasy setting.

I loved this little dialogue with a handmaid “doll” she fired from the court in Onyx Castle:
“Just who do you think you are?” screamed the doll. “I can trace my lineage back six centuries.”
“That’s nice,” Forest said acidly. “I’m the bastard child of two races. And I have a party to get ready for. So get out of my sight and stay out.” Forest gave them all a broad grin. “Welcome to the new world order.” She slammed the door in their shocked faces.
Naturally, Forest struggles with the rapid changes pressed upon her in this book (and she is entitled to a mini-meltdown), but as soon as her emotional struggles became too over the top for me, the author blessed us Netriet who stepped in to literally slap some sense into Forest:
“Look, Forest, I think you’re pretty awesome.” Forest snorted and rolled her eyes. “No, really,” Netriet pressed. “You’re an amazing person. You’re just an ingrate.”
(Thank you, Tenaya Jayne)

Syrus is a dreamy leading man, though I wish we could have learned more about what HIS aspirations were for the future of Regia and his birthright.

In the hope that additional books will be published in the Legends of Regia Series, I’ve mapped out the characters and settings so that they can be reviewed. (I tried to pick up Forest Fire Three months (and 40 books) after reading Forbidden Forest and quickly realized that I needed to re-read book one to refresh my memory. In my opinion, there is no hardship to repeated readings of either book, but if you want to jump straight into a book three (assuming there will be a book three – hint hint, Tenaya Jayne) here is how things left off in the World of Regia by the end of Forest Fire:

UPDATE:
I found the following blurb on Tenaya Jayne’s Website
“I’m not able to throw down any dates for you yet, but I can tell you things have moved from concept to Work-in-Progress! The Legends of Regia #3, DARK SOUL(working title) may well turn out to be my favorite of the series. Social unrest, terrorism, murder, romance, a triangle, new villains, new heroes, and a new, one-of-a-kind heroine! I’m excited!”

Appart from finishing Forest business with her father, which was done so easilynwe don't need to mention it, ending Leigh, which should have been much faster and reuniting Syrus and Forest, this book was actually quite useless in my opinion.
Everything was resolved so easily it wasn't even funny and bullshit excuses were made up to make the book appears longer.
Too bad, there was a great base, a beautiful univers full of promises but left unfulfilled.

Sappy but a good read.
I was astounded by the level of stupidity, aggression & self hatred Forrest showed in this book. It was unappealing & got old rather quickly. Forrest did not show any character growth or maturity until Syrus put his foot down toward the final chapter.
Syrus was honest, caring & loyal. His character showed growth & wasn't self absorbed. He had a reason for self pity & had weak moments of self esteem but never had that poor me attitude & that made me love him.

Rating: ⭐/5.
Type: 📱 e-book.
Genre: new adult fantasy romance.
Challenge: Beat the Backlist 2024 Challenge 📚, neon coloured cover prompt (16/52) 🌲.

Overall impression: wtf happened. Book 1 read like an adult fantasy adventure with some romance on the side. Book 2 on the other hand was unorganised, rushed and immature. I can't tell if it should be classed as a young adult or new adult book. All I know is that the writing style and characters suddenly seem so juvenile and unbearable. I'm so mad because book 1 gave me so much promise for an epic series and it just flopped so fast.

Best bits:
✅ Elf-shifter hybrid ❤️ Vampire Prince
✅ Fated mates
✅ Forbidden love
✅ Diverse species + characters
✅ Disability representation (blindness)
✅ Multiple POV

Worst bits:
❌ Juvenile plot + out of place childish dialogue
❌ Heroine was unbearable
❌ 3rd act breakup
❌ Nothing happened
❌ Telling rather than showing
❌ Minimal adventure or action

After proofreading for the last decade I have come across just over a handful of some truly talented authors. I now mainly read for pleasure, and what a pleasure devouring Forest's journey continued in this novel; Forest Fire (The Legends of Regia). The world of Regina expertly pulls you in, placing you right into the thick of action from where the last book ended. The thickness of emotion consistently has you holding your breath, so don't forget to breathe! Regia is described in exquisite detail allowing you to see it all in your mind's eye easily, there are so many opportunities for extra story lines within the plot which it seems a shame they will never be told or expanded upon. Nor will the story of Forest and Syrus, their love, their future - another book please!!!

A fantastic read that I couldn't put down, completely recommended!!

Not as good as the first, but good.

You know, the first quarter of this would have made the perfect ending to the first novel with a great set-up for a new character to continue the series, but Tenaya drug the story along creating petty feelings of unworth in the characters causing emotional insecurity just to produce drama.

Leith's comeuppance wasn't gratifying to me, and her grief over it was just classic stupidity.

Death seems to be a common way in dealing with those who argue, but there are hints of a society with laws, however crumbling, that contradict each other. Prieswt's want of killing Loren was not justified enough for someone wanting to become a just leader.

The cult the elves gather under believes in experimentation for the greater good, creating splices, but what's the difference between a splice and a halfling? I mean, if she was an experiment for splicing, and she was born naturally, weren't there other races that have produced halflings that could have been observed?

What about the love of his daughter, Ram? Why was it not condoned? It's not explained?

The story of forming a new republic was entertaining, but the lack of a real villain throughout the novel was severely took away from what the new world order is fighting for.

If you want closure to the last book, by all means, get it, but I was not satisfied with the epilogue that took the remaining 3/4 of the story.

I wanted to love this, but it felt messy in a bad way. I'm going to give book 3 a try, but if I don't love it, I think I am done with this series. The world and concept are interesting to me, but this just isn't as well-written and well-plotted as I need to stay intrigued. Also, I wanted the character development to grow each book, as well as the world building, and I don't think there was nearly enough of either to suit me.

This was a huge disappointment compared to the first book. Although I understood Forest's inner turmoil, the way it was executed did not make me sympathize her much. It seemed to be all about her and she didn't take into account her mate.

I do think the world building was better in this one. I was interested to see what Forest's dad ulterior motive was and I'm happy that he genuinely loved her even though her birth was for the purpose of an experiment. I loved reading about how he really dedicated his life to ensuring that his daughter has a good one.

I didn't realize that this book concluded Forest and Syrus's main story. I felt like there was so much more that author could have done to ensure that the readers' attention was completely glued to this story but unfortunately it wasn't. I probably won't read the rest of the series considering I'm not that invested in Neferet.

It wasn't bad. I was encouraged to read more of these because I love the fallen (tales of regia) book which takes place way after this stuff. There is so much politics and just sadness and back and fourth I wanted to gouge my eyes out. I'm stalled at starting book 3.

Aheeeeee....I LOVE, Love, loveeeee...This series, and its spellbinding adventures! Oh, there are no words to describe how I felt about this book. Well maybe, Breathtaking, Gut-wrenching, Heart-throbbing, Hands-shaking, and Heart-breaking. You get the point...lol!

Forest Fire has been a HIGLY Anticipated book for me after reading and LOVING the first book Forbidden Forest (See My Review of Forbidden Forest HERE)! It's been at the top of my waiting list all summer long! I just couldn't wait to get my hands on this book, and when it finally landed in my happy little hands, I couldn't wait to devour it! And trust me when I say Forest Fire was well worth the wait, and did NOT disappoint one but! Its satisfied all my cravings for love, lust, action, adventure, revenge, pain, death, and of course, happily ever after!

The Plot:

The world of Regia is in an uproar. All is in chaos after Forest was banished back to earth, forbidden to ever set foot in Regia again! Vampires have broken through the portals, invading earth and disrupting the two world combined. Werewolf's are in an uprising after their leader was murdered, and are pursuing war with the vampires! Elf's are threating to overthrow the vampires and claim power. And Syrus, poor Syrus, is being held captive in a secluded location, closed off by a magic barrier within the castle. He only wishes he could break through the barrier that binds him, and kill anything in his path back to Forest! And Forest's world has been turned upside down in a matter of minutes. She is broken, shattered, and forced to live in exile on earth without her life mate. And if that's not enough, she also has to fight off the vampire assassins that the queen sends through the portal to kill her. Things are bad, and their about to get worse!

Forest has always known her heritage was half Shape-Shifter, and half Elf. But what Forest didn't know was how powerful her bloodline really was! Her father is someone in power. More powerful then Forest ever feared. Forest has always thought her father would eventually come for her. But she never thought he would come to her rescue.

Forest and Syrus battle their way back into each others arms from two different worlds. But that's only the beginning to their reunion. Their is more trouble in the shadows, as Forest's slave & lover marks burns as hot as fire whenever they touch. They were illegal branded on her as a child by a vampire named Leith that claimed her as his lover and slave. Forest was then forced to do what he wanted, when he wanted. She was bound to please him by the marks embedded in her skin, claiming her as his property! He's still out there, and as long as he's breathing, he keeps Forest and Syrus from completing their bond, and becoming one. The illegal marks she's branded with will always be the barrier between them until its removed only by Leith's death. Forest and Syrus won't rest until Leith is dead and the marks she's imprinted with are removed for good!

But theirs more problems around the corner as Forest is not considered a pure blood, and she's having a hard time excepting her title with judging eyes! Forest is given the opportunity to have a highly respected title of authority, not to mention her option of being queen of all Regia. But does Forest deserve to be the all and powerful queen of them all? Does Forest have what it takes to stand up for the ones who are mute? But most of all, does Forest have the strength to battle all Regia for it?

Love will be tested, lines will be crossed, battle will be fought, and lives will be lost, as the new world is born! By the time the end comes all will be revealed!

I absolutely adored this book, though I did like the first one a bit more. I loved watching Forest and Syrus's bond grow and form in the first book. It felt stronger and more connected. But I enjoyed this book almost as much. I am so sad to see this series end after only the second book. I felt this book ended on a great note, but that their was still more too be told. Like its still not complete with the unanswered questions. I am hoping this author decides to write at least one more book, for more closure. Either way I am happy with this series, and Forest and Syrus will go down as ONE of my favorite couples in books ever!

Overall this series rocked, and this author is at her best when writing action-packed sences, and romance sences. She writes the most spectacular sizzling connection between two characters that had me in tears at some parts. I will definitely be reading more from this author.

I have mixed emotions about this book. I really enjoyed book one with the settings and backgrounds and most importantly the progress it made. This book took the same story and continued but it was tinted with teenage angst. Forest ran away anytime she couldn't deal with things. Then, she finally pushed Syrus too far and broke their bond. I understand she suffered a lot in her life but she just wanted to hold on to that and not move on.

This one didn't do it for me. I loved book one and was excited to read this but I feel like it fell short. The main character was more whiny than strong. There wasn't the cute banter between Forest and Syrus like in the first book and the whole thing just felt rushed. Not sure I'll bother with more. We'll see

Please stop reading this review if you are the kind of person who does not like spoiler. I know that i've already tagged for spoiler on the review but i feel that i should warn you again because i will be discussing the major plot twist in the book.

Let me start with saying how much I am disappointed with Forest in this book. She came out great in the first book, a kickass heroine that would do anything for her mate. I was ready to sing praises for her and to put this series to my altar of worship alongside My Protectors by Alanea Alder and Bewitched and Bewildered by Teresa Gabelman until i read the second book of course. It was such a letdown.

Forest changed from a kickass heroine to a standard heroine that feels she doesn't deserved to be loved and pushed other people away as though it would solve the problem. God damn it! I almost feel as though Syrus would be better off cutting the bond for life. Curse you Forest! How dare you treat him like that. What a selfish girl. Oh what's that you say about she was thinking for him when she rejected him? I call bullshit!! Syrus doesn't care what everyone else thinks, she did. She did it for herself and then when she got what she wanted, she realizes that nope she didn't want it and then she had the gall to be sad when Syrus are wary of her. You deserve so much worse, you dumbass!!! I wish Nettie could abuse her more and made her feel like shit because that is exactly what she is, a pile of elephant shit.

This is exactly the reason why i prefer erotica rather than romance nowadays. When the author is preoccupied with making steamy scenes, they won't add stupid plot twist to their book to make it longer! Although some author are more determined than the other, i have to say that. This book actually reminds me a little of Here be Sexist Vampire by Suzanne Wright except that series is inferior since the heroine is a genuine kickass heroine and i like her so much.

On the other hand i am falling in love with Rahaxeris. I was so relieved when it was revealed that he is in fact the good guy. I don't even want to imagine how it would play out if he was evil. I am at awe regarding his love and dedication towards his daughter and he is just simply amazing. I like him so much that although i initially gave this book 2 stars, i added another one just for him.

I am disappointed by this 2nd book. I liked the first book well enough and was looking forward to the continuing story. The plot was contrived to the point it made me want to shout at the author and Forset. Conflict and tension that doesn’t make any sense. For example Forest captures Leith early on and goes about to kill him. The plan gets thwarted before it happens. When presented with the opportunity again she runs off and then makes plans to not kill Leith but to keep him for some weird contrived completely implausible situation. It made no sense. Total WTF and made me think seriously this is what the author could come up for a plot. The story had so many other ways it could have gone. Basically any way would have been better than this.

Forest becomes a whiny, shrewish, broken person who doesn’t deserve anything yadda yadda. Which is so disappointing, since she was a strongish character in the 1st book. The worst part is it doesn’t make sense to the character it is obvious it is only present to have a story.

Extremely Disappointed in Book 2

March 21, 2015

Format: Kindle Edition

The first book in the series was free and so much better than this book. The heroine, Forest, goes from a strong, independent tough girl in book one to a whiny, insecure defeatist in book two. Sorry I wasted my money on the second book and wish I could get a refund. The characters and dialogue also took a nosedive to the point where I'd had more than enough and couldn't finish reading this drivel. I left off at 56% into the book. The relationship that Forest has with her life mate Syrus is at a perfect point to ramp up when book 2 begins, but she spends so much time doubting and hiding behind lies that it doesn't develop as far as I could stand to read. When not so hard situations arise, they both give up rather quickly on their relationship, mostly on Forest's end, and part ways although still expressing their love for one another with a tease that they'll reunite in the future.

What the holy hell happened between books 1 and 2?!

I had to check my boxed set to make sure I wasn't hallucinating, and the same author is, indeed, writing this book. I could not finish, and gave up at 22%.

I feel like, all the world building character development, relationship growth, and overall plot line that occurred in book 1, was completely shat on at the beginning of this book. The flavour of the main characters was completely destroyed.... kind of like singeing off all your taste buds right before you get your last meal. I can't see them in the same light. I feel as though the author reflected on how she began the series, and decided to start all over again. I was so intrigued by the first book, and thought, hey, these dynamics are cool... oh but wait.... now no power person is in the same role, everything has been turned on its head so it feels not only infeasible, its sloppy, tedious, and not flowing at all.

Disa-freaking-pointed.

Still on the fence *spoilers*

Netriet is by far my favorite character in this whole book! When she called her dumb and smacked to hell out of Forest, I kept thinking thank god! I did a happy dance for five minutes after that! Best part of the book! Everything else is slow going... again... with being the warrior at the beginning then turning into a fragile flower at about 20%... again... as she is reunited with her soul mate. At 92% she gets some fire back. That's a whole book of me wanting to jump through so I could shake the hell out Forest. I really want to give this series a higher rating because ALL of the secondary characters are more interesting than Forest. I'm sorry, I don't know if my mind is ready for her to do more regressive behaviors in book 3 and so on, especially if I have to pay for it.

I couldn’t even finish this book. I did try. I got through about the quarter of it for giving up. Forest was not the same strong female character she was in the first book, she seemed to be devolving. It irked me how she was insecure about small things. Like who the fuck wants to remain a slave just so they don’t have put ‘pressure’ (there isn’t any anyway so that didn’t make sense) on their mate???
It was really stupid, sorry to say. The first book lacked some detail but at least the story was consistent but I just couldn’t read this one. I kept rolling my eyes and disliking the writing the more I read...

In comparison to the first book it's pretty average. I felt like it was a bit of a tipsy turvey roller coaster of Forest being all about "me, me, me and oh, more me".

Also a bit frustrated that even being a "Vampire Prince" the main male lead (whom I refuse to acknowledge in name because he felt like a sniveling whining little child) was an absolute puppy dog in the aspect that he allowed Forest to do whatever she wanted and then fawned after her rather than setting his own goals and tackling them.

Hmmm tough read. I got about 1/3rd in and all the turmoil in how book 1 ended resolved and dead beat dad who happens to also be most powerful person in their universe gave it to her because he said he couldn’t stand by and watch anymore. That’s when I had to stop. I don’t care anymore about Forrest who runs to cry...in a forrest 🙄 aaaaaannnndd her awesome blind vampire boyfriend who can kick ass while being blind kind of went lack luster. Hence why I stopped and I am not going to read on.

It was not good

After the first book I expected a hot follow up but Forest became babbling idiot, sniveling and feeling sorry, and then crying over her abuser. Disgusting. The hero BROKE THE BOND like it was nothing and appeared not to have any love left for heroine. Evil guy got away with so much because of weak and lame Forest - bad sequel.

Plenty of action for a short story.

As promised, this is a fantasy romance which has a refreshing plot angle. It didn’t get bogged down, keeping up a nice pace and interesting enough to continue the series.

That was...not great.

The dialogue was childish, the pacing was weird. Emotions were all over the place like a child's. Angry one minute, ok the next.

I bought the box set so...looks like I'm finishing this series.
