I've never been very interested in gardening, but I have recently become inspired by Josh's book. Not only is it absolutely beautiful to hold, touch, look at, it is extremely informative, - and inspiring of course. Very excited to begin my new project of turning my back garden in to a veggie garden (sadly no chooks)
An extremely practical guide to thoughtful design and setting up systems for organic gardening. A guide book to simplify complex systems in a manner that is approachable and interesting - never dry or difficult to read. Highly recommend
This book tells the story of Josh Byrne's creation of a garden, with vegetables, fruit and native plants in a small yard in a home in Freemantle, Western Australia. 'Small Space Organics' contains much useful information that would be helpful for anyone setting up a similar style of garden in Australia (and perhaps elsewhere too, but to a lesser degree). There are chapters that thoroughly cover water systems, food systems, habitat, soil building, maintenance, propagation and more. Illustrated with sketches, diagrams and many photographs.
I found this book both fascinating and tedious, if that's possible. I loved the idea of Josh's garden project and love what he did ... but he describes it in such detail. Which would be very helpful if I was going to do something similar, but since I'm not ...
