This is the second time I want to put more than the maximum five stars for a book, and each time it is for a YA or NA .

This book is writing with an infinite tenderness , and we feel perfectly well the love of the author for her characters, whether for Trent or Sheldon . They have been friends since childhood and arrive at the dawn of majority together through all the obstacles life or fate throws at them . Yet they are as different as night and day , both physically and in their everyday lives .

Sheldon had understanding parents , magnets and who support him whatever his choices , while conversely , Trent faced with an abusive father , violent, alcoholic and a mother who seems to have abandoned everything and refuses to leave her husband despite his abuse of their only child and to herself .

Following a tragedy , Trent finds himself living with Sheldon and his parents and the two young men then began a slow discovery of what could be more than friendship .

What I love about this book is that despite the fact that it is relatively short (120 pages) , Trent and Sheldon take the time to explore , to ask questions , rewind and forward slowly . Their love grows, runs and goes according to events that are growing and evolving . The story is very realistic, so that we really attach to these two characters who are surrounded by Sheldon's parents on one side and the sheriff on another.

These are two young men we want to hold in our arms to comfort them and help them move forward .

Once the book started, I guarantee you will not be able to rest before getting to the end and regrets - despite everything - their story is so short .

A book that I highly recommend.

So more of a 3.5 but this was an engaging read. Brutal, though. Some of the on-page abuse is heartbreaking. Trent and Sheldon have been best friends since they were kids. Trent's home life is devastating so he spends most of his time at Sheldon's house. At this point they are now 17 and one thing leads to another and they begin getting closer and closer until the inevitable happens. Really liked the way Sheldon's parents handled things. Essentially quite a sad book given all that happens with Trent's mother and father but does have a somewhat hopeful ending.

This would've been better if the characters in the book didn't talk like they were stiff, British, butlers. Contractions are things that are used...especially by teenagers. I found myself contracting their speech in my head as I read it just make it flow better. Also, I know that a lot of people pronounce wheelbarrow as wheel barrel, but that doesn't change how it's spelled. I had to shake my head at that.

I really liked this story right up until the end - which I felt was a little bit unrealistic.

Trent and Sheldon are best friends. Have been forever. Trent has an awful home life with an abusive father and a mother who stands by and lets it happen. He spends most of his time at Sheldon's house anyway.

After a terrible accident occurs involving another boy, Trent is once again abused by his father in front of the sheriff and goes to jail - even though his mother bails him out. Trent goes to live with Sheldon's family to recover and he ends up staying with them.

Sharing a bedroom has it's advantages and soon Sheldon and Trent realize that what they feel for each other is more than friendship. Against the background of this growing discovery, another tragedy takes place that rocks their world again.

I liked both boys and certainly Sheldon's family - his mom especially. I was surprised at how easily both boys decided to accept their relationship. I would have thought the parents would have been more concerned - not about the boys falling in love - but about Trent making any kind of decisions about anything given the other upheavals going on in his life. The Sheriff was also a really good guy with an awful job to do.

The constant for Trent has always been Sheldon. Sheldon's parents really take on the responsibility for Trent when everyone has failed him. My only issue is that the ending just felt a little too easy - especially for 18 year olds, but I guess that's why it's called fiction :)

I wouldn't mind dropping in on these guys sometime in the future ;)

What I like most on any of E. M. Leya's stories is the fact that they are believeable. It could be anybody in your area, your neighbor, your friend or even a member of your own family.

In Trusting Trent, we meet Trent and Sheldon. Two best friends forced to grow up faster than they should need to by a series of events. Along the way they decide to experiment and discover their own sexuality together.

Overall, the story is a nice, fast paced read and I can only recommend it.

I've read all books by EM Leya I've been able to get my hands on and I enjoyed them all. This is no exception. Trent and Sheldon have been friends since they were kids and when Trent's family life disintegrates and he moves in with Sheldon they discover that they are so much more.
I loved reading about how they found their way together and how they never questioned their connection despite the problems they had to face.

I read this like a month ago and completely forgot to rate it or review it which is a shame because it's a very moving love story.

These two boys' connection to each other is complex and unconditional. I did love that once the decision to be together was made there was no backslide or waffling.

Short read with some explicitness, but I highly recommend.

Trusting Trent was one of the best m/m stories I read this year! I loved the MCs and the whole story line felt very realistic. Trusting Trent is a sweet, emotional love story between two teenage boys, Trent needing all the help, support and love his best friend can offer. I would have loved to read more about those sweet boys! 5 stars for a great story!

Dialogue was a bit stilted, unnatural but otherwise a very good story.
