This review can also be found on my blog.

Before I get to my review, I wanted to point out something - I read someone else's review that mentioned the similarity between Fall's colonists and their black ash secretion to the "baby-powder" from a very popular series, as well as the theme of a band of warrior brothers fighting evil. Comparing the two series never crossed my mind. Lessers smelled of baby-powder; they didn't leave a trail of it like dandruff. This was/is a totally different reading experience, and one that I'm enjoying.

This was another great read in Carly Fall's Six Saviors series, and each one of the warriors is growing on me more and more. Rayner and Faith's story was more of an emotional one than the previous book. I attribute that to the fact that Faith was a spirit for most of the story, and one can't have "relations" with a spectre. That allowed the hero and heroine to gradually learn about each other and learn to trust, as well as to fall in love.

I really liked Faith. Not just for her heritage and the fascinating legends surrounding Native Americans, but she had fire in her veins. She was adventurous, brave, kept a cool head and she went after what she wanted. She was definitely a female well suited for a warrior. When she learned the truth about Rayner, she didn't react negatively. Another point that I credit to her upbringing.

Rayner was a very kind and gentle alpha male. Perhaps his life on his home planet as a forest dweller made him an excellent match for Faith. Both love nature, one of them believes in legends and one of them is practically a legend. Like the others, he yearns to return to his home planet. So when he falls in love, he will have to decide what he wants more - home or the girl? Of course the outcomes are predictable, but seeing each individual come to a conclusion is what makes reading this series so enjoyable.

I liked their chemistry. It was more nurturing than sizzling for the first half of the book, but you felt the underlying current. The only thing that stood in their way was finding her body. But afterwards things pick up, and take a rather devastating turn. Even then, Faith seemed to find the warrior within herself and was, in my eyes, an equal to Rayner in every way.

I think these books could be read out of order or even as a stand alone. So far there's always a brief recap of the warriors history in each one, so you're never really lost. But I would still recommend you get to know them in the order they were written.

Disclaimer: I received a copy from the author in exchange for an honest review.

BRIEF SUMMARY

On the planet of SR44, twelve murders called the colonists escaped to Earth. On the said planet, the military hand picked six combatants called Six Saviors to track them. The six that were chosen each had their unique abilities that they bring to the group. The six Saviors are Noah, Hudson, Talin, Cohen, Rayner and Jovan. This is Rayner’s story, book 2.

THOUGHTS

Rayner’s distinctive ability that he brings to the Saviors is the ability to see spirits. He sees the spirits caught between life and death that has not yet passed on but has left their bodies and has not fully died. Like the first book in the series, the author uses the first few chapters to give us a briefing on Rayner’s life on SR44 and Earth.

Rayner is no Noah from book 1, but still manages to hold is own. Faith is Native American with flaming red hair. She is on her own in the big city until a Colonist strikes and Rayner sees Faith in her spirit form. I have to commend the author on Rayner and Faith’s unique relationship within the first half of the book. As their chemistry progressed Rayner fights his attraction and feelings because of his SR44 form, and Faith is frustrated with the wall he has built. The author teases the reader with their ongoing intimacy as that is one of the reasons Rayner battles to keep his SR44 form.

As for the plot of the story, book 2 allowed us a brief look into a colonist’s thoughts as he finds his prey and that was good to see. I think the storyline was very interesting as everything unfolds regarding Faith and Rayner’s future as well as the other characters that brought out an appeal that attracts you to the book. We got to see Noah and Abby again from book 1 and of course the wild and fun member of the group, Hudson.

This book had more of a paranormal feel with a good storyline, action, romance and engaging characters. And after book 2, I am still drawn to the series as the fight continues to capture the colonists and the inner battles of each Savior.

There's always something to worry about when reading the sequel to a book you love. If your expectations are high, you may worry about feeling let down if the second book in a series doesn't live up to the first. As much as I loved book 1, I was hoping that Finding My Faith would capture me the same way. It did!

I loved Rayner and Faith. Faith was one of those headstrong heroines who is not stupid or annoying her independence, and Rayner was the perfect blend of alpha male and heart.

I appreciated that there wasn't a huge info dump, much like what you would have to suffer through in most sequels. The same story of Rayner's alien race was told, but this time from his point of view, giving it a different angle and a new perspective. I loved how even though Rayner and Faith were from two different worlds, they were both so similar. Faith is Native American and Rayner is from the 'forest people' of his planet...the two go together like opposite ends of an Oreo!

The love scenes were tender but also scorching hot! I liked how the sexual tension was allowed to build to an explosive level before 'it' finally happened. The chemistry between Rayner and Faith didn't disappoint!

I am really looking forward to book 3 in the series, just as much as I was looking forward to this one. Well done Carly!

FINDING MY FAITH (Six Saviors #2) by Carly Fall

FINDING MY FAITH is the second instalment and March 2012 release in Carly Fall’s Six Savior series. I have not had the chance to read the intro novel-The Light Within Me, and I was worried that perhaps the premise would be lost, without the background information. But Carly Fall included much of the series premise throughout the storyline, which in my opinion, is great. I love an author that is able to blend the series premise into each story so that a new reader is not lost. The series is paranormal/fantasy/sci-fi.

Background: 6 saviors warriors from planet SR44: Rayner, Hudson, Noah, Cohen, Jovan & Talin. The warriors were sent to earth 211 years ago to stop and eradicate the 12 murderers who escaped from one of the moon colonies of planet SR44. The Colonists, as they were soon called, made their way to Earth, took the human body form, mated with the females and populated the earth with Colonist DNA. The savior warriors are part of the elite military from planet SR44, commissioned to remove the Colonists from Earth. The beings on planet SR44 are incorporeal bodies of mist and smoke, each bearing a different color, but in their corporeal bodies on Earth, their eyes will glow their familiar- planet SR44 color each evening. Rayner’s color is red.

Rayner Johnson is a warrior with a special gift. Unlike Hudson or Noah who had gifts that were welcome and useful, Rayner believed his gift was useless-with the ability to see spirits caught in the ‘ether’-the regions between life and death. But when Rayner, Hudson and Cohen are assigned to a case of 5 missing women, Rayner is stunned when he recognizes one of the missing females. Her spirit had inadvertently crossed paths earlier in the day with Rayner. And she was beautiful.

Faith Cloudfoot moved to Phoenix Arizona to start a life without the scrutiny of her overprotective parents. She was a restless child always on adventures and treks of discovery, and as a young woman she could no longer sit still and headed to the big city. With her long red hair, Faith was revered in the community of Native American Navajo. According to legend “The Woman With Fire for Hair” would join with “The Red Eyed Wolf Warrior’ and their son would heal the earth. Faith’s sense of unease increased daily-it felt like someone was watching and following her. But when she woke up in a cell with 4 other women, she knew that what she was sensing was real. Unable to recall what had happened, Faith realized that her now drug-induced spiral would only get worse, when her spirit separated from her body. With her corporeal body hovering close to death, Faith was desperate to make contact with the only person who could see her spirit.

Faith had no idea why she and the other women had been abducted, but the only person who had the ability to ‘see and talk’ with her was a tall, gorgeous warrior-like man. With his ability to communicate with Faith, Rayner soon recognized that her kidnapping was not just a part of a series of abductions, but one that was connected with the Colonists that the warriors were commissioned to hunt. Using the information gathered from Faith, Rayner and the others located the abandoned and hidden entrance to an underground cell, where the only woman still breathing was Faith. The common link between the 5 women-all the missing females had red hair.

The relationship between Faith and Rayner had its humorous moments when it appeared Rayner was constantly talking to himself, while communicating with Faith’s spirit. The couple worked well together as Faith’s spirit directed Rayner in the search for her body and talking with her parents about her abduction. But when Faith’s spirit and body were finally re-blended, Rayner’s demeanor was cold and aloof. But the smoke beings of planet SR44 had been taught that to fall in love while making love to a human woman would cease their immortal existence and they would begin to age as a human. But Rayner was not the first savior warrior to fall in love with a human woman, but he also knew that Noah’s mate was not entirely human. But falling in love is more difficult knowing that Faith’s feelings for Rayner are just as strong. And the Navajo legend of the Woman with Fire for Hair and The Red Eye Wolf Warrior would never come into fruition because of Raynor’s need to return home to planet SR 44. But it is Faith’s ability to ‘detect’ the possibility of the Colonists that was of interest to the Warrior’s from planet SR44.

Returning Faith to her parent’s care, Raynor soon realizes he has made a bigger mistake than just breaking her heart- he has put the Cloudfoot family is danger from the Colonists. But it is too late for the family when Faith is once again missing and her parents are no longer on this plane of existence. But his need for Faith overwhelms his desire to remain immortal, and Raynor goes on a search and rescue for the human female who would one day be his mate.

Finding My Faith and the Six Saviors series has an interesting premise. Blending sci-fi with fantasy allows for a broader audience in several different genres. The interesting use of the hereditary smoke and eye color added freshness to the story telling genre, that is always welcome to a voracious reader, such as myself. I am looking forward (or backward) to reading her first book in the series-The Light Within Me. I have no problem recommending this series. Six Saviors Series by Carly Fall.

Finding My Faith by Carly Fall is book two of her Six Savior Series. Who are those "Six Saviors"? And what are they supposed to save? All, well, some anyway, will be revealed in this romantic suspense series with a hint of SFR and what feels like more than a touch of inspiration from the Black Dagger Brotherhood.

The titular "Faith" in Finding My Faith is Faith Cloudfoot. Faith works as a barista at a coffeeshop in Phoenix, just a little bit away from her overprotective father in Flagstaff.

You see, Faith is supposed to be the legendary, "Woman with Fire for Hair" among the Navajo people. Her red hair signifies that she will be the mother of a son who will cure the Earth. But only if she mates with a red-eyed night-wolf-warrior.

Faith doesn't believe a bit of it. She just wants to expand her boundaries away from her overprotective parents. So, she fights to move to the "big city" of Phoenix.

Faith's life in Phoenix is terrific for the first year. Then she is kidnapped and held in an underground "prison cell" with five other red-headed women. Even stranger, after she is unconscious, her spirit leaves her body and haunts the streets near the scene of the crime, until she finds one person who can see her--a big warrior with red shining eyes.

Rayner is that warrior. He is not a native to this planet. He, and his band of warriors, are from planet SR44. They've been on Earth for over two centuries, chasing a band of renegades their homeworld unimaginatively labelled Colonists, for originally escaping the law by colonizing a local moon.

Those Colonists are now on our Earth, becoming mass murderers, serial killers, and political despots and megalomaniacs. Oh, and interbreeding with humans. Colonists' offspring usually become Colonists, too, but the strain does eventually become diluted. And nurture sometimes triumphs over nature.

Rayner and his band of brothers have come to Phoenix to hunt one of those Colonists who is kidnapping and murdering women. Rayner's particular talent is to be able to unite spirits with their bodies, in other words, he can bring people back to life. But there's a catch!

He can only do it if the spirit can find its body. And the body is still "habitable". And if there is someone who loves the person and who they love back. A lot.

Rayner and his warrior band have been on Earth over two centuries, hunting down Colonists. They are inhabiting human bodies that never age. They can be killed, and they have to maintain their bodies, but no aging or death by natural causes.

Their natural forms are spirits of light. The light glows from their eyes at night. Rayner was a forest spirit on his homeworld, and the red light of his natural form glows from his eyes at night.

Faith's spirit, wandering the streets of Phoenix, is the key to finding the Colonist that Rayner and his friends are out to catch. So it's important that Rayner keep in contact with her as they hunt the bad guy. Very important.

There's this one big problem. The Warriors can't go back to their homeworld until the last Colonist is dead. It could be centuries. But if one of the Warriors falls in love with a human, and makes love with her (not just sex, but really makes love with her) he'll lose his native form and become human, age, and eventually die.

He won't be able to go home again. Ever. And he won't be able to finish the mission. Rayner promised his mother he would come home. No matter how long it takes. He's made a vow to finish the mission, no matter how long it takes. But he fell in love with Faith the minute he saw her spirit. What good is a warrior without his soul?

Escape Rating C: Based on the description, I was expecting more of a science fiction romance than this actually turned out to be. The SFR aspects are definitely downplayed in the story itself. The story we have is über-powerful and über-huge band of good-guy warriors chasing down über-evil dudes who leave behind "ash" when they do something wicked.

Substitute baby-powder for ash. Sound familiar? I'm afraid it rang a bell for me. The band of testosterone brothers fighting evil is a tried-and-true theme, and it works, every war story uses it. But if you describe the good guys as all being over 6'5", and the bad guys leave powder residue, then the theme is suddenly derivative. It might not be intentional, and YMMV.

The legend attached to Faith made the story a bit different. I liked her character, but not the way she asserted herself one minute and then folded the next. If there was a reason for her willingness to bow to her parents' wishes that I didn't understand, where was that explanation? She is 23 not 16. If she feels like she can't move out without permission, tell the readers why.

*Please note this is a recycled review due to organization cleanup we are doing on the blog.

Finding My Faith is the second book in the series and I have unfortunately not had a chance to read book one. But in reality, you don’t need to read book one to understand the concept and what this particular story is about. It stands on its own with some deep heart felt emotions.

I won’t recap (too much) of the story since you have the blurb above. Faith Cloudfoot is an Native American young lady in her 20s who wants to experience life away from her over protective parents. She is part of a prophesy her tribe believes in, having been born with flaming red hair. When she is kidnapped suddenly while walking home after work, she spirit leaves her body. Not dead, but not doing so good on the living part, no one can see her. Except for Rayner.

Rayner Johnson (Johnson is a not really his last name since his planet doesn’t do last names) is from the planet SR44. When a group of Colonist break free of their prison, Rayner and five warriors are sent to earth to hunt them. Now 200 years later, they are still on the hunt with the worst people in human history as descendants of the Colonists. When a Colonist performs a bad action, he leaves behind what is called ash which the SR44 warriors can pick up and trail.

The warriors track serial type crimes and when a bunch of young ladies with red hair disappear, they send in three warriors to investigate. While out doing investigation work, Rayner sees Faith, but pretends not too. He can only reunite people with their bodies if they know where the body is and they need to have someone they love and who loves them back when he performs the ritual. Later he finds out Faith is one of the kidnapped women and goes in search of her.

The story kind of moves slowly from there. They meet up to try and figure out things, but seem to waste time. Once they watch TV at her apartment for hours. This is how they fall in love, but as a few days go by, Faith almost dies because they are almost too late. The big drama of Rayner falling in love is that he reverts to his human form for the rest of his short life as the people from his planet live for 1000 years. All Rayner wants to do is finish finding all the Colonist and go home. So he tries over and over not to fall in love with a human, which would end his chances of going home forever.

There were some other things that were kind of silly but not enough to ruin the story. On SR44, the people do not have a really physical form, but are made up of “smoke” like substance in various colors. So when the warriors come to earth, they are using a human form to blend in, but at night their eyes glow with colors. At one point the author says it looks like Easter Egg colors. Rayner’s is red, but he uses painful contacts at some points to hide it.

Overall, it was a decently solid sci-fi/fantasy story with a love story angle. The warriors were fierce, but also had soft sides to themselves. The humans were human as you would expect. It was just decent book for a fun afternoon of reading.

Being someone who has not had the pleasure to read the first book in this series, The Light Within Me, I was glad that the author provided some background information. Because of this, one doesn't have to have read the first book to understand Finding My Faith. In fact, I became really curious about Noah and Abby's story when they were introduced in this book, and I can't wait to go back and read their story for myself. Because I have not read The Light Within Me, I can base this review solely on Finding My Faith, since I have nothing to compare it to.

I loved how Finding My Faith has a mix of genres; there's a little bit of something for everyone: sci-fi action, supernatural abilities, and sweet romance. All of this is blended so well together that this book can't be put into just one genre.

It might seem kind of cheesy, but I really liked how Rayner and Faith always seemed to have everything in common. Not only are their backgrounds similar (each grew up in the forests of their respective homelands), but they also just so happen to like the same foods and TV shows. Their both spiritual people and love nature and the outdoors. And both are free-spirits; although Rayner lost that when he came to Earth, meeting Faith made him want to live again instead of just floating along.

I love legends and folklore, so I really like the legend of The Woman With Fire for Hair and the Red-Eyed Wolf Warrior. The legend states the a woman of the Navajo with flaming red hair and an man with glowing red eyes will produce a son that will be able to harness the earth's energy. This son will only be born when the Earth needs him most, it could be a few years or hundreds of years until he's born. Until then, The Woman With Fire for Hair and the Red-Eyed Wolf Warrior will not age, the Warrior will not lose his wolf spirit, and only after then son is born will they begin to age as humans do. This legend really works in Rayner and Faith's favor. Neither of them will age until their son is born, and who knows how long that will be. And Rayner won't lose his SR44 form (though the legends says wolf spirit, for Rayner it's his SR44 form).

I was kind of disappointed that we never got to see the Colonist's demise. With how hyped up Hudson ans Cohen were to hunt him down, I was looking forward to seeing his downfall. Everyone likes seeing the bad guy lose in the end, but we just don't see it in Finding My Faith. Also, the Colonists are portrayed as these vicious killers, but the Colonist in this book just wasn't. It was just disappointing reading about how they are trying to catch and kill this Colonist and we never get to see it when they finally do.

Other than my issue with how weak I found the Colonist to be, I really loved Finding My Faith. I can't wait to see what's next for the Six Saviors.

BRIEF SUMMARY

This is the second book of the Six Saviors Series. Six warriors have been sent to Earth from the planet of SR44 to stop 12 colonists that escaped and who’s bringing harm to planet Earth. The warriors have been here much longer than anticipated and miss there beloved home, but one by one they are finding more than they originally bargained for.

THOUGHTS

Faith Cloudfoot spent her life under the watchful eye of her father in Arizona learning about her Native American heritage and legends. Faith moves to Phoenix looking for more than the confines of the forest and against her father's better judgment. Suddenly Faith is kidnapped. Three of the six warriors are in Phoenix tracking a lead and Rayner is the only one that can see Faith's spirit (he sees spirits trapped between life and death) and the attraction is immediate. Rayner wants to go home to SR44 and falling in love can mean that will never happen but he almost loses Faith and that becomes more important.

I am not a huge sci-fi fan but this series has a groupie! Faith is kidnapped by a colonist and her spirit leaves her body. She is alone and afraid until she meets Rayner who can actually see her spirit. The chemistry is instant between these two. Rayner is determined to help Faith but at what cost? If he falls in love with physical intimacy he will lose his SR44 form. As they spend more time together they realize how much they have in common and to Faith, Rayner represents many of the NA legions she had grown up hearing about.

I found myself laughing throughout the book. People thought Rayner was crazy talking to himself when he was talking to Faith's spirit. Rayner was doing everything possible to stay away from Faith; because of the temptation of having her while the sexual tension between them grew. The warriors are great secondary characters and the unique gifts they all have, especially Hudson. I look forward to his story. We also are re-visited by Noah and Abby and see a female relationship start between her and Faith. I am looking forward to the next book.

Rayner is one of the six saviors who has come from another planet. They are warriors who are hunting colonists. Once all the colonists are dead they can return to their own planet. It was supposed to be an in and out mission but they have been on Earth for hundreds of years.

Rayner is able to see people who are in Spirit form and about to cross over. He can help them back to their body if certain conditions are met. That they know where their body is, that somebody is near to them that loves them and who they love back.

Faith is captured by a colonist and is near death, but Rayner sees her and is able to help her and in the process he falls in love with her. Faith is connected to a prophecy, that once every twenty-five years, there is a red-headed woman born to her tribe and one day one of these women will meet with a man who has red eyes and a warrior wolf spirit - the red-eyed wolf warrior - and they will produce a child that will help heal the Earth. It helps that Rayner is technically an alien whose eyes glow red at night.

It was a good story, and I'd like to see how this prophecy plays out in future books. I found that at some times the author would abbreviate words almost as if in 'text speak' i.e. convo rather than conversation. You are not limited to how many characters you can use, so use the full word!

Enjoyed it !!

This book is the 2nd in this series, and I guess I expected it to be just like the 1st. It wasn't.
Not that that is a bad thing. Its not . Just had expectations of an epic love. And this love was more like a slow simmer.
In this book Rayner , the SR44 Warrior sent to Earth , that can actually see dead people before they have passed on to their next phase. His eyes glow red, and he learns that a young lady captured by a Colonist is thisclose to death. And he Needs to help her.
Faith is a very beautiful young lady who has been kidnapped, and drugged heavily. She finds herself drawn to the big , beautiful man who can actually see her. She knows she is a ghost. But she also knows that somehow , he is the key to her future.
Raynor Knows that it is going to be beyond difficult to get Faith back to her body . If he can at all. .....
To me , this book was an okay read.
Raynor out of All the Warriors, wanted to go back home to SR44. So , that reasoning influenced his need to let her go. But natural law Always has other ideas.
Will he and Faith be able to move forward together ??
Or apart ??
I enjoyed this enough to continue reading the next in this series 😊😊

FINDING MY FAITH (Six Saviors #2) by Carly Fall

FINDING MY FAITH is the second instalment and January 2012 release in Carly Fall’s Six Savior series.

Returning Faith to her parent’s care, Raynor soon realizes he has made a bigger mistake than just breaking her heart- he has put the Cloudfoot family in danger from the Colonists.

I was able to get over all the useless info dumps (barely), and there's tons of it. But what I can't tolerate in a book already bothering me is a TSTL heroine. Someone is trying to help her and she continues to run away? Don't ask for help if you don't really want it! Sorry, I don't have time to wait for her to get her shit together and realize how stupid she's being. DNF 19%... I can't believe I paid $4 for this. UGH. I don't think I'll continue with this series.

Yeah, no

Book one had its issues, but it was a true love story. I felt the chemistry between Abby and Noah and it wasn't long before they were acting on it. I don't know what happened with book two. It takes the lead characters the whole to get it together and I mean the whole story. There was a lot of drama thrown in but it had nothing to do with the plot in my eyes. Took away from the storyline for me.

I'm still reading this interesting series so I'm still enjoying them. This is the second book and tells the story of Raynor, a savior who can see spirits caught between worlds. When he sees Faith, he discovers what Noah has, that those from SR44 can fall in love with women from Earth - because he does - fall in love with Faith

The description of this book does not match the Goodreads description. This book is about the savior Rayner and how he and Faith met and fell in love and mated. I enjoyed and will continue with the six savior series.

Big sexy aliens, sigh!

Tall, lots of muscles, shiny eyes and lots of sex appeal. I can't wait to keep reading this series and any other of Carly's books.

This Review was first published on my blog Lecture toute une Aventure

LOVE it! It was finished in almost 2hours so that said how strongly I was immersed in the story and enjoying it… after reading book one “the light within me” I did have a soft spot for Rayner and learning more about was simply too good.

Rayner was quite a bitter character with only his job in mind… from all the warriors he is the one who wish to return to SR 44 the most and he does works for it even if he means flying somewhere else on mission (and he hate flying) In fact, he is one that suffer the most in my opinion, his power sound like a curse for him: being able to see and speak to spirits trapped but not being able to help them has taken his toll on him. In fact he only succeeded once and thus he tried to ignore them. It’s really the opposite as how he was before.. as a child he was carefree, living in the forest, respecting the nature and spirits with his loving family. Rayner wanted some adventures so he left his forest for the city where he met Cohen and Hudson, fellow warriors, and decided to enrol in the military to see the world.
However he did promise his mother to come back and that what is keeping him strong and determined… he wants to go back and get once again the warm feeling to belong.

I could only smile at how similar it was to Faith growing up…she too lived in the nature with a loving family but took pleasure in exploring, taking risks and in the end by leaving for the city where her life took a drastic turn. The difference between them….Faith hasn’t lost herself yet, she still dreams, hopes and laughs while Rayner forgot it. Both understand the spiritual world and respect it despites some doubts sometimes, like Faith who doesn’t believe how special she is and the prophecy she is supposed to accomplish.

They are simply perfect for each other and I enjoyed how they had to discover it and then had to make it works, faith really needed her inner strength to makes Rayner understand and see what was under his eyes. I also loved her parents how insightful they were, how open while still protective. They are some really steamy scenes yes but deeper feelings and emotions are predominant in this one.

While the action and romance are there, some humour too, in my opinion it was also more profound, the author make me think and feel things in the character’s perspectives and I was completely hooked and they grew on me. It also means that I was even more angry at the villain.
The author closes the story on a happy note, the characters have their happy end, but this being a series we know it can be temporary, but the investigations isn’t complete, yes faith is saved but the culprit, even simply his motives are not sure for our heroes…and that the only reason this book don’t get the maximum score….i don’t like when the bad ones go off easily, the more evil they are the more I want them to suffer.. I think I’ve become really addicted to this series at this point and next book will not be in my hands soon enough.

If you want an excellent paranormal romance with a some deepen meanings fitting in the main storyline, a book that can work as a stand alone , but you wouldn’t want to miss book 1, then try Finding my Faith and the Six saviors series… it’s a must read!

Carly Fall continues her Six Saviors series with this second installment, focused on the spiritual Raynor. He is one of a half dozen alien warriors who have traveled to Earth to track down criminals they call "Colonists" who have escaped from their world. Unlike his fellow soldiers, however, Raynor can see the spirits of those who are between life and death. And it's this gift that leads him to Faith.

One of the Colonists is collecting red-headed women to hand over to a Mexican drug lord. Faith is one of those women. While she is drugged nearly to-death, her spirit wanders from her body and directly into Raynor's path. Once he realizes that she is a victim of the Colonist he is tracking, Raynor begins working with her to try to track down her body and save her before it's too late.

Raynor fights his overwhelming feelings for Faith because he desperately wants to return to his home planet one day. And falling in love, especially if he acts on the emotion, will separate him from his alien form forever. The struggle gets even more difficult once they are together in the flesh. But falling in love isn't the only danger. The Colonist who kidnapped Faith has no plans to let her get away.

If you liked The Light Within Me, you'll enjoy this one too. The tone is the same and the internal conflict for the hero is identical. The spiritual element is new, but even the plot is much the same. Warrior loves woman. Warrior fights his feelings because he doesn't want to become human. Colonist targets woman. Warrior realizes the woman is more important than anything and they live happily ever after.

I felt like there was a bit of repetition. And the info dump at the beginning felt almost exactly like the one I read in the first book. Just like the first installment, our characters fall In Love at lightning speed. This time around, the author explains it as normal for men of their species, but it still stunts the believability of the emotional connection.

There were also a few grammatical errors. Between that and the repetition, this installment felt a little less polished than its predecessor. 3 stars.

I really like the concept for this book. My main problem with it is that it was highly repetitive and I felt a little preached too. Forest Dwellers/Native Americans were a little too idolized for me. That concept just didn't seem to have much depth. It seemed more like a really convenient vehicle for the author to resolve some issues. So more like 2.5 stars but rounded up to three. I am ambivilent about getting the other books in the series unless they are less than $1.00.

I read / listened to book 1 and 2 of this series through Audible. It was okay, but left a lot to be desired. I never really engaged with the plot (aliens on earth for hundreds of years chasing down alien bad guys), didn't find the lead characters (male or female) of much interest and only finished the book because that is what you do. I read the summary of the next books in the series and am not going to bother.

Well, talk about a difficult situation. Who litterally falls in live with someone's soul? An alien man who sees spirits, who else :).
A beautiful story, with loss and love. A bit surprised about the end but I am sure we'll see him again.

I love this book and the series. Rayner was a great hero and Faith was a heroine that secretaries strives for to have. I loved the suspense as the six saviors try to find and kill the evil Colonists.
