Review by Kimmi:
Ok ladies, after the dinner table is cleaned up, the kids are bathed and in bed, kick you husband out of the living room and turn off his damn ESPN. Then get yourself a glass of wine and snuggle up on the couch for this fun, sexy, fast read. This Novella contains some if not all of the following:
Ashleigh, a widow that still has a lust for life, born from a wealthy family, she has always taken care of her own, however now she has to pick up the pieces and hot mess her husband left behind of their business. And the best way to do this is to solidify her main client, Max. He is where the money is, he is both a Rock God and an Entertainer of epic proportions, he is like Prince, no last name needed. Just Max.
Max, a British accent having, sexy as hell, charismatic Rock Star! And guess what, he is smitten with the Boss lady that's in charge of his career, she manages both the promotions and decisions. And she keeps the media storms at bay, or as best as one can.
Lisa, a bat shit crazy, delusional fan of Max's that Ashleigh's deceased husband hired. And Lisa wants Max, and isn't taking the clues or warnings that her feelings are not reciprocated. So then, awe hell breaks loose and lets just say her cheese slides off her cracker, ALL the way off! And Commence the explosions, shit storm, and fire works!
This was a fantastic read that I read WAY to fast! Ashleigh and Max are HOLY SHEEEIT! Hot! Loved this story! Can't wait to read more from Jamie Salisbury :)
Rockin' the Boss gets 5 sippin wine, mommy gets a HOT read while snuggled up on the couch STARS! *****

This book has a lot of room for growth as far as tradecraft is concerned. However, I had a lot of fun reading this and hope the author continues the series.

As a fan of rockstar romances I excitedly dove into Rockin' the Boss expecting scenes in the sultry music world. What I got instead was a man of mystery starting a relationship with a woman of privilege who was betrayed repeatedly by the man sworn to honor her. Throw in a crazed fan, dangerous truths rising to the surface, and numerous HOT sexual interludes and you end up with an immensely unexpected story that leaves you wanting more (partly because of the cliffhanger).

Ashleigh Thomas is still trying to recover from the death of her husband. She's trying to save the business he almost drove to bankruptcy and heal her self-esteem from the constant betrayals he heaped on her courtesy of their marriage of celibacy and his numerous affairs. A surefire way to heal in both respects comes in the form of Max Frazier who's on the cusp of a major business deal that will bring in much-needed cash along with the attraction he shows her. She's been attracted to him for a long time and finally makes a move that leads to a combustible relationship between the sheets. As they get happier though more problems arise as a crazed woman starts making their lives difficult through her lies and her dead husbands ultimate betrayal comes to light.

Ashleigh starts off the story as a strong heroine taking on the world to save her company. She's a serious businesswoman who doesn't take no for an answer. Her and Max seem on an equal level as their relationship starts but slowly I see her becoming weaker. She starts to let Max have too much control, particularly in the bedroom, as he introduces her to things that make her a bit uncomfortable but she does out of her love for him. She knows he's keeping things from her but she doesn't push and walks blindly into dangerous situations to make him proud of her.

Max is keeping many things from Ashleigh and we slowly learn these things as the story progresses. The biggest thing is his former occupation of being a spy which will come in handy as her dead husband's legacy requires them going undercover in sex clubs. He also glossed over his former relationship with a woman now trying to ruin his happiness who has a surprising connection to Ashleigh's dead husband. As his secrets slowly came to light I found myself liking him less but still completely seduced by his dark, sexy looks and even sexier accent. He's so wrong for all of us but so right too!

This story has many twists and turns and for those of us expecting a rockstar story will be disappointed as music is hardly mentioned. Many events throughout the story are over the top and seem implausible but I was still on the edge of my seat waiting to see where things went next. This story is very fast-paced with numerous sexual encounters that get more intense as Max and Ashleigh's relationship progresses. These interludes almost overpower the story in their frequency which leaves less time for character development. Minus these small quibbles I still found myself intrigued by this story and the suspenseful events that turn Ashleigh into a gun-toting spy herself. As the story ends in an abrupt cliffhanger, here's to the sequel rumored to be releasing soon.

3.5 STARS!!

Ashleigh is a widow and the owner of ANT (Ashleigh Nicole Thomas) Communications. One of her biggest clients is Maxwell, who really enjoys being on stage and performing in front of a crowd.

An opportunity crosses Ashleigh’s desk that she sees as being something that Maxwell might be interested in. She sets up a meeting to let him know about it and to see if it something that he would like. They both to agree to travel to Vegas in an uncover method to see the venue and such.

Maxwell spills the preverbal beans to Ashleigh about him having feelings for her and they both begin explore feelings for each other.

Will they …? And what about the Ashleigh’s employee Lisa, what is happening with her? And is Ashleigh really a widow? And the ending…

My thoughts:

This is one of those stories that has some good but mostly bad points to it. I am just going to break it down as gently as possible.

The author seemed, at least to this reader, that she was unsure what direction she was going to write the book because one paragraph she used the word “manhood” and that term is used in mainly contemporary romances. Then in the next paragraph she used “cock” and that is word that is used in erotic and erotica books. That continues on here and there thru out the book with a variety of word.

I agree that this book is fictional but does the word PROTECTION mean anything. I mean Ashleigh’s deceased husband was a player who had multiple affairs and Max was with who…

The dialogue between Ashleigh and Maxwell after they “hooked” up is too cheesy… Babe, love… ugh I could go on… Seems like every blooming time that they communicate back and forth they have to add a term of endearment to the sentence (*face palm moment). Then add some of the sappiness that should provoke other emotions that didn’t…

The flow of the storyline seemed like it was rushed or missing something information or et cetera... There was some sections that it seemed that the author was trying to force in or add something that done in bad timing. While other areas while in other areas it was ok or good.

I really dislike saying anything bad about a book because I know that it takes months for an author to write a book and they pour all that got into writing something but…

Rockin' the Boss is the first half of a two part story, so fair warning you will not have the conclusion in this book.

Ashleigh the heroine of Rockin' the Boss has had a pretty nasty year when her husband is killed in a car accident then she finds out that he had nearly run their business into the ground and she has to downsize everything, lucky for her Max has stuck around.

Max is a rock star but in his past he also spent time with the S.A.S. he knows how to kick butt and take names. When he starts up a relationship with Ashleigh he soon discovers that he is being stalked by one of her employees and that is just the tip of the ice burg.

Rockin' the Boss is a pretty quick read at around 85 pages, it is full of sex scene after sex scene you really do have to wade through the hormones to find the super secret spy story that is there as well. The story is told in first person and that can be harder to get into the minds of the other characters at times. Ms. Salisbury also fills her story with detail lots and lots of detail from the type of wine they are drinking to the meal they are eating even the description of rooms they are in or the chairs they sit in is described in exacting detail.

The conclusion to the story according to Ms. Salisbury is due out in August so if you read it now the wait for the other half won't be too long.

I received this book in exchange for my honest review.

I loved the premise of this story. Recently widowed publicist, Ashleigh finds herself giving in to the attraction to her younger rock star client, Max. And they give into the attraction fairly quickly in this story. But the storyline than take a twist with one of her staff having stalker type tendencies towards Max, which leads the Ashleigh and Max flying between Las Vegas, Wyoming, New York and Atlanta trying to hide from the woman.

Max and Ashleigh are hot together, but their romance is at times hard to believe (they fell in love with each other in like three days) and at times took a backseat to the stalker storyline which melded into a sex club sting involving Ashleigh's dead husband. For only being 84 pages long, the author tried to pack as much as she could in those pages and it left the story feeling disjointed and didn't give the character enough time to develop to the point where I cared for either one of them.

The ending is a cliffhanger, so you'll need to have the second book handy if you're going to read ROCKIN THE BOSS. I will admit, that while I had issues with this book, I'm intrigued enough by the story that I'll be moving onto book 2.

This book was a joy to read: a great romance with steamy love steams and likable characters. I couldn't put the book down. It was well written with an interesting plot, strong characters, and lots of romantic/erotic scenes that will get your glasses steamed up (if you wear them). :) The chemistry between the two main characters was so HOT! After reading this book, I immediately made a date night with hubby . . . and let's just say he was very happy. Thanks to the author for writing such a great book that gave me hours of enjoyment . . . in more ways than one. :)

The word usage in this book goes from contemporary to erotic then back to contemporary to erotic AGAIN... Personally confusing on how & where to exactly shelve/tag this title...
Then some of the ...(*cough) You Know... Scenes seemed off or rushed (yes, I agree that this a fictional story what about protection...Sorry.)
Short review since full review was given to a review site...Overall I would rate this book between a 2 and a 3 stars...

I love rockstars and if you throw in a spy as well then I am hooked. This is a short story but I liked how hot and spicy it is! Ashleigh has had a lot on her plate with the loss of her husband and her business floundering. She hopes that Max will be able to jump start the business and she can get back to where she was.
I am anxious to see where this story takes us. The characters are well-developed and I like that it is first person. The sex scenes were good and steamy!

At first I didn't see a purpose in the story unless a lot of very very hot scenes which wasn't why i read this. But i got caught in the story with the fiction part, agent, undercover... I was surprise by the end. that's no end!!?
