At sixteen, Tessa gave her virginity to Cord Redigo. She'd loved him, or thought she had, until his fury at her misguided, juvenile trick broke her heart.
For the past thirteen years, she has despised him. Now he's walked back into her life, bent on destroying her livelihood! And he doesn't even remember her!
All too soon Tessa realizes that deep inside she's still that sixteen-year-old, lovesick fool. No matter how desperately she tries to hate Cord, he draws her cunningly into his arms and his bed. Tess knows that small passions die with absence, but grand passions only grow larger. To her regret, her passion for Cord is of the deepest kind. Will that tragic truth brand her as the grandest fool of all?

“Reality can be every bit as charming as fairy tales.”
Hmmm, this book wasn’t for me, I thought it was gonna be about a teenage fling that come to face to face after thirteen years and after a few I hate you’s realize they are madly in love with each other … but nope, Tess and Cord are thrown back together all thanks to the Lake’s mythical creature, Tess owns the Inn that Cord and his team are staying at for a month while they try and find proof of the existence of the Lake’s Champ. As much as she would like to keep her true identity a secret from Cord it doesn’t take him long to realize she was the virgin who has guilted him into shame.
Couldn’t really get into it, Tess was frustrating, she ran hot and cold and never owned up to her actions. Cord was just there, not sure what I felt for him when I was done reading, there were times when I found him charming, but then the feeling would never stick. Oh well, on to the next one.
Legendary Lover by Renee Roszel Tessa Jane Mankiller had a rather tough life. Her mother passed away, her father drank and couldn’t hold a job and worst of all she fell in love at sixteen with someone who didn’t love her back. One night of passion and rejection stayed with Tessa. Then thirteen years later, that same person walked into her life for a second time.
Dr. Cordell Redigo was a renown marine biologist finding and capturing two fish that were thought to be long ago extinct. Taking a break from his beloved work he came to Lost Cove Inn in Vermont to help his cousin Mary prove, or in his opinion, disprove the existence of Champ, a mythical creature. The dark haired inn keeper was a pleasant surprise, and something niggled in his mind that she seemed familiar.
What could a famous marine biologist and an inn keeper have in common? More than you would think. The author takes the reader on an adventure from the mind of a sixteen year old who thinks she’s in love to a young woman who just thinks stability is all she needs for happiness. A young man who believes all he needs in life is his work. The mythical Champ brings them together, and they both find out how wrong they were. Another exciting romance by Renee Roszel that is filled with ups and downs on the journey of life and love. **Sexual content http://justjudysjumbles.blogspot.com/...
She was 16 and he was 19, he has a steady girlfriend not Tessa, and Tessa Jane fell hard for Cord. It was her last night in their small Oklahoma town before they were evicted from their apartment. Tessa climbed on the hey wagon where Cord and his friends rode on... next thing lead to another and she got more then a kiss that night an she attitude towards Tessa was mean. 13 years later Tessa is running her aunts inn on Lake Champagne, where Champ is the local mythical creature. Tessa has a group of cryptozoologists going to find out if Champ is real or not. What she never thought she would see.was the one man to kill her heart towards love, Cord Redigo. Cord is a marine biologist and he's there as a part of his older cousin group but he wants to disprove that Champ is in dead a fake. When he first saw Tessa he know a they met before but a brief exchange until one of Tessa's employees calls her by her uncommon last name. Mankiller. Now he knows how she is and his mistake of breaking a virgin and running off. Granted he looked for her after he came back 3weeks after.that night but he never could find her... The P.O.V. change.after a few paragraphs so Keep a watch their, it's not really a lot of sex but mostly task about the prehistoric fish called Coelacanth aka-living fossil that Cord help bring to Smithsonian a living pair, blah blah blah. I know more about this fish then ever...
Tess she's held a grudge these last few years and I don't blame her a bit, "what does it matter, now? It didn't interest you then." Cord he's... well... he's Cord, "I'm not sure my cooking deserves three 'goods', but it'll be nourishing." He's such a man, "hellfire, woman," he muttered. "I've done damn little else..." I mean after things go down Tessa stills has a grudge, "I gave something to you once. And all I got for my trouble was a ride home and a lecture!" But she gets over it because well, you can't stay away from Cord, "evidently Hell froze over a couple of times today." She drew his face up and brushed his lips lightly with hers adding, "Take off your clothes." Cord he's all man and he's honest, "Humor me. I love you this way. All the prim little innkeeper is gone when you take off your clothes." He made a sexy growling sound in his throat. "Baby, if I never see you in clothes again, it'll suit me just fine." I liked this book, it was a quick read (well for me anyway lol)
Seriously silly story about a second chances childhood romance. Silly because even though they have one sexual experience in their shady past, they are total and complete strangers so this almost doesn't belong as a second chances shelf. The heroine in this story has the BEST name! Tessa Mankiller. Seriously, I give it the vote for best name that I've read this year! The clueless hero guy is Cord Redigo which would be great in any book, but next to Tessa, he is more then a little unsure of his feelings. Well everyone, except the sassy smart cousin, is unsure about their feelings while avoiding the serious conversations. I hate break ups. I'm terrible at them, so I understand why Tessa dithers so long with her pseudo-fiance. Cute story, but 100% fluff! 224 pages and kindle freebie 2 stars
I really enjoyed reading this, so not what I expected at all. This is one of those crazy quirky romances that plays out like a movie. The will they won't they have a chance at being together. Her with that crush that's bubbling back to the surface from high school and knowing all about him even if somewhat painful memories linger. Then him trying to remember where he knows her from (longer hair, years, and growing up does make a big difference) especially when he only had ever actually seen her briefly, though she did leave him with a lasting impression. Both never expected to see each other again if ever. So it end ups being silly, funny, sad, steamy, hot and sweet all rolled into one great book. With a cast of crazy characters. :)
What a cute love story. Some people don't believe in love others don't believe in Champ. You will believe in both when you finish this book.
A young girl in the trows of her first crush. A young man who hasn't quite got his hormones and his manners together. Add them up and what do you get? A great beginning to a wonderful story about how Grand Passions simmer and grow stronger during the passage of time.
Thirteen years after their first encounter, there he is checking in to her hotel. The feeling are still just as raw as they were 13 years ago but now they can't run away.
Wonderful characters and a fun story line make this a pleasurable afternoon read.
I'm a big fan of Ms. Roszel but of course I have said that before~! ;-) This was a very good sweet romance with just a bit of heat. You would not go amiss buying and reading this one. Of course I think the cover model is a bet miss leading but don't get me wrong it's still a great looking model~! ;-) Make sure and pick up some of Renee Roszel's books because I haven't read a bad one yet and I have read them all.. BTW this is a reread for me, I read it the first time it was first published.
I can't get pass the fact that she was 16 when she gave up her virginity to someone who didn't even ask for it or pursue her. Then she had the audacity to be angry at him almost immediately afterwards. This anger stayed with her well into her adult years. Why? Makes no sense to me but then again it was a free book. My lesson is that I get what I paid for.....lost time.
Character names aside this was an okay read. I liked the beginning and the later in life meeting was good. I don't know but the chemistry just wasn't there for me and I did not feel like there was a good connection. Overall 2.5 read.
I really liked this book. The excerpt kinda threw me off. I thought he was the total cold jerk. But he actually cared and was also hurt in the process. Enjoyed the story.
