4 ROMP IN THE DARK STARS.
For those that don't know I am a huge fan of KI Lynn not only can she produce (in my opinion) fantastically written books, but she is also a personable and lovely author, so with that being said it is obvious that I was most excited to discover that the author was publishing a novella. The 'Breach' series is one of my favourites so I was excited to see what 'whispers in the dark' would deliver. Readers I confess I enjoyed every single forty minutes of devouring this hot little number and here are my book thoughts ...
What's it all about?
Mia Harmon comes home wet and tired from a bad day, only to find there is a power cut and much to her libido's delight a new neighbour occupying 7B. With only her phone as a source of light she seeks help from the friendly new face, Tristan and actually gets a whole lot more than she bargained for.
What did I love?
This is a perfect escape for anytime that you have a hour to spare. It combines gorgeously hot with an instant attraction between neighbours who have just met. The writing style is addictive and flows easily and the characters are engaging for such a short story. I was left wanting more and I'm curious to find out If KI Lynn intends to continue with these tiny but packs-more-than-a-punch novella's.
Why not five?
Three words; I needed more.

I will pick up everything that this author decides to write (everything but horror, I can't do horror) so you know that I would recommend KI Lynn to you, I don't know another writer who writes hot as dirty as this author, so if you want entertaining for an hour and you have £77p to spare what are you waiting for? 4 short and steamy stars!
Well... that only took me about thirty minutes to read. I love this authors writing, and I enjoyed what little bit of the characters I got. The blurb for this one sums it up rather nicely...
No cliffhanger, no drama, no angst. I would have loved a full story with these two, but this little novella was a nice, quick and steamy read!

This was a cute quickie. Not much to it. Probably less than 50 pages:)
Mia is having a bad day. It's raining, the elevator is out and while she's resting on the stairs she meets her new hot neighbor Tristan. When the power goes out and Mia has no flashlight or candles she goes to her neighbors door. Her neighbor isn't home but Tristan opens his door and offers to rescue her. I liked both Mia and Tristan. I found it strange that they didn't use protection when they had sex and nothing was ever said about it. I liked the way it ended with his brother showing up but I did feel Mia was a little to forward coming out in her shirt and panties talking to Tristan's brother.

Mia has had a bad day. She is cold and wet from having to walk in the rain, she is loaded down with groceries and now the elevator is out in her apartment building. She starts the journey of climbing 7 flights of stairs to her floor.
While taking a break, she meets Tristan. She's all..
And he's all...
Their fliring was instantaneous.
"Going to need that hand back."
"You sure?"
He let out a deep chuckle. "For a little while, but then you can have it back."
"Promise?"
"Promise."
While taking a shower, the power goes out and Mia stumbles around trying to find a flashlight which has dead batteries, and candles but no matches. 4.5 Blackout Stars
Mia is having the worst day, but when she locks eyes with a stranger it looks like her day might just be looking up. But when the power goes out, Mia finds herself being saved by the beautiful stranger who turns out to be her new neighbor Tristan.
There is a definite attraction between these two. And although we don't have too much time to get to know Mia, her unfiltered reaction to Tristan seemed genuine and awkwardly cute. Being stuck in a room with barely a flicker of light with the hotness of Tristan is certainly a cross we all could bare.
But when the lights go out, the freaks come out. Restraint can only go so far for Tristan, but having Mia in his space and in the dark is causing a little more strain than he can stand. So the natural thing happens...
Because lets face it. You're single, there is zero power and helpful neighbor is just too delicious not to jump on. Seriously, who asks for a cup of sugar when you can ask for something so much more fulfilling!

K.I. Lynn has proven that she can write the down-right-dirty and with Whispers in the Dark she gives us a little softer side. And she does them both flawlessly. Whispers in the Dark was a quick read that was enjoyable and had a perfect balance of sexy and sweet. A great short romance that hits all the right spots.

Curiosity got the better of me and I wanted to see how KL would write a different story other than the Breach series. Suffice it to say that while Tristan is no Nathan, he's still pretty darn good.
My problem ~always~ with these novellas (and this one is really short...only 44 pages) is that they are TOO. SHORT. I know, I know...why do I even read them you ask? I don't know...
But I did think this was cute and sweet especially the whole knight in shining armor! The sex scene was good...I don't know why it bothers me when they don't use protection but it does!
Nice little twist at the end with a visitor and Mia's neighbor. I could really see this being a prequel and some good stories coming out of it but who knows?

Very short but hot story. I enjoyed the teasing and banter between Mia and Tristan. I am positively surprised that 44 pages story had left such a big smile on my face! I agree with my friend J, it had a similar feeling to Hearts in Darkness, which I loved. Highly enjoyable and recommended!

Whispers in the Dark is a short read, it was perfect for my tube ride, unfortunately it was steamy too, hence I needed to behave LOL
It all started when
Mia is in darkness and heads for help, and viola Tristan comes in.
What can happen in darkness when they have attraction?
"I swear, it's your fault. I don't mean to keep you saying things, but, I don't know, you have this aura that whispers in y ear to say all the things mu brain normally tries to filter out"

Damn. K.I. Lynn knows how to write smut. If it is dirty or flirty, intense or sweet, she always masters it perfectly.
Whispers in the Dark is great "in-between" read - short, sexy and no angst. It is REALLY short story, so do not expect much plotline development. But I enjoyed the build up of attraction between Tristan and Mia immensely and I was sad when it was over!

Talk about a major tease.....I really liked Tristan and Mia. They had great banter and I could definitely get down with reading a full book about them.
The blurb pretty much sums it up......but for what it was I enjoyed it. Kind of reminded me of Hearts in Darkness minus the elevator. Quick, HOT little read!!!

Being an uber fan of Ms. Lynn I was excited the girls and I got an advanced copy of this short story. I mean short story..took me all of 20-30 mins to fly through this one. It had all the goodness of K.I.'s mind..I love how this woman writes. It had insta-love and attraction and in one darkened night a love was created. I am keeping my review short in honor of the shortness of said book..K.I. I want more..so get to typing!

Oh no i didnt know this was so short. I don't know whether to give this a 1 star for the length (it took me 40 mins to read!) and lack of story or a 5 star for the writing.
I have no idea if this is meant to be a series of novellas or not but if this was a full length novel I could see myself loving these characters x

This is a quick, hot little read.
Mia has had a crap day, which is brightened somewhat when she meets the new addition to her apartment building, hottie, Tristan. But then the crapness of her day continues when she gets to her apartment, jumps into the shower only for the power to go out. Stranded in the dark, she manages to dress herself and goes searching for a light from her neighbor, when who should she bump into in the hall, but hottie, Tristan.
He smirked at me. “Need something?”
My stance relaxed. “What are you offering?”
“That’s a loaded question, beautiful.”
Yeah, neither of them are shy with the flirting, and talk very quickly turns even dirtier. But underneath their raging lust, there is a genuine attraction between them, and Tristan is a good guy, and tries hard to keep things from turning into an all-out smut fest.
“I’m trying not to be that guy. The one who meets a girl and fucks her. I don’t like shit like that, but damn… Mia, you make me want to break my own rules and drag you to my bed like a caveman.”
And then, of course, things turn into an all-out smut fest. Tristan and Mia steam it up, and with the raging storm outside - rain, thunder claps and lightning – it all just adds to the atmosphere and makes it really hot and intense!
At only 44 pages, this is a really quick read. Lynn manages to get a fair bit of chemistry happening in a very short amount of time, even managing to introduce secondary characters and create a bit of a HEA for our couple.
I enjoyed this one, it was a fun read, and a great one to pick up if you find yourself with a bit of time on your hands and not wanting to get into anything too long.

Geez this took me ages to read NOT!! But getting over how short this book was I still enjoyed it..

Gorgeous Brown haired, green eyed Tristan, strong jaw, sharp check bones, and a fit physique..
That first glimpse of him wanted Mia licking any part of him
The rain pelted against the windows, but I could barely hear it over our panting and moaning..
"I'm trying not to be that guy, the one that meets a girl and fucks her..You make me want to break every rule in the book, and drag you to my bed like a caveman, You're fucking up my resolve"
Our lips met, tongues mingled as his hands wound around my body. His hips rocked into me at a slow, savoring pace.
It was short, it was hot, it left me wanting more!!

Color me surprised, but I really enjoyed this quick read. I'm not a fan of the first-person-POV narrative, but it worked well in this book. Short stories don't leave room to develop a character the way I'm used to, so being able to get inside Mia's mind and see how it worked was key to make me understand her - and by doing that, I got to "know" not only her but Tristan too. They were very likeable, the kind of people I'd love to hang around in RL.
As this is a short story, I didn't get the defintive HEA I usually expect in romance books, but that didn't bother me. Considering the time frame of the story, the HFN ending was fitting and very satisfying. Like Mia, I'm sure the HEA is in their future and I didn't mind being left to imagine it on my own.

I am a total K.I. fan girl! Ever since reading Breach, she is an auto-buy author for me. I love her writing style and her sex scenes are some of my favorites!!

J&G: We’re both absolute KI Lynn fans and as such, we had to dive straight in to this novella as soon as it became available. We have to admit we didn’t realise it was going to be quite as short as it was but was certainly a great way to while away a spare hour.
This had the three S’s. Sweet, short and sexy – throw in a “to die for” hero and yep, this was a winner! The premise of the story is two people, Tristan and Mia, neighbours who meet for the first time in passing who share an instant attraction – the chemistry sizzled between these two!

They find themselves once again when a power blackout hits their building. Their time together was certainly hot but it was also very sweet and we loved the interaction between Mia and Tristan.
Oh sure, they shared some very hot, passionate moments, but with these two you really did experience a coming together of hearts, souls, minds and bodies. They were the total package for each other and wow! The chemistry between them was off the charts.

This story may have been short but it was sexy. It packed a lot into those few pages that’s for sure and it was a very enjoyable read from this wonderful author.
Our only gripe, and why we didn’t rate this one higher, was the length. We did find it a little too short as there was so much we would love to have been explored between Tristan and Mia as they were such fascinating characters. However, this is a prelude to a series, and we’re certainly looking forward to more down the track.
J&G: We’re both absolute KI Lynn fans and as such, we had to dive straight in to this novella as soon as it became available. We have to admit we didn’t realise it was going to be quite as short as it was but was certainly a great way to while away a spare hour.

This story was great. K.I. Lynn never disappoints when it comes to telling a sexy story. I just wish it was longer. Went by very quickly. I loved how Mia & Tristan seemed to hit it off right away. It already felt like they were becoming comfortable with each other as if they've been together for years when they only had just met.
Of course I always love a hot steamy scene with sex in the rain or sex during a thunderstorm. Whispers in the dark definitely delivered on that!
And just when you feel like the story is just about to about to take off to develop into something more deeper…It ends. :( Hope this isn't a standalone. And there's going to be some sequel to it in the future. A trilogy or turning this into a series would be great! It has the potential to go there. 4 Stars!

Lame
the blurb had me snagged with the idea of a short one nighter with a hot neighbor when the power goes out....i thought it would be pretty hard to mess that up but the dialogue and shallow literacy just butchered what could have been...
Forced wit, lame flirting, desperate girl and a guy that 'just wants to get to know her'--then boom-- sex....a full 2 minutes packed with corny lines....not hot or captivating or anything..
this may be harsh and i usually can at least try to praise the author's aim to a point but this was just too basic.

A quick, hot read!
The sort of power cut we should all be lucky enough to have!
Not going to lie, the story didn't blow my socks off, but hopefully this series will build and build.
As a huge fan of the author I'm happy to see where this story takes us.
