Katherine King has everything, her loving and supportive husband, her challenging job and a secure life. An overheard conversation causes the sexual needs that she has buried for years to resurface. Her choice leads to a tsunami of pleasure and passion, to intrigue and to grave danger.
“Scorpio Awakens” is a deeply sensual story of enduring love and the lengths she is willing to go to keep it.
I’m a USA Today bestselling author and one of those lusty ladies who happens to love reading and writing dangerously delicious romances. I’m hot in the middle of another sizzling paranormal reverse harem series that’s guaranteed to make readers flush and blush. It is so refreshing to read an erotic romance with a difference. I love that Katherine and Tim are married and have a lasting and passionate romance. I think that one of the things I like best about Scorpio Awakens is that it allows me to fantasize that I can be a strong middle-aged woman and have it all (love, passion and wild-hot sex).
A friend told me about this new author, so I bought the book. ~madly fanny self~ OMG, Lilith writes some of the hottest sex scenes I've ever read, and there's a big difference between when the characters are having sex and when they're making love. The scenes between Tim and Katherine was so beautiful, I almost cried. Anyway, I don't want to spoil it for anyone, but so far, it's a great romance. When will the next book be out, Lilith?
"...Big Hugh--that's what she called my cock, short for Hugh G. Rection..."
Scorpio Awakens is not your everyday romance. It’s centered on a married couple, Tim and Katherine King, who are both passionately in love with each other and is strangled by curiosity along with the driving need to take their sex life to higher heights.
Katherine is a strong, fierce, no-bullshit woman in the world’s eyes, but behind closed doors she’s all about yielding to commands. She loves her husband to pieces but doesn’t feel he’s capable of ‘scratching her itch’.
Tim King is equally in love with his wife, and trusts her enough to allow her the freedom of exploring her sexuality, BUT, he’s gotta be in on that shit.
Now onto… ooooh, yes, right there Master Conner, right there…Conner McCloud, the hot undercover billionaire, he can come and ‘scratch my itch’ any day! Wish there was more of him, though.
For the first four or so chapters of this book, I was thinking ‘three stars’ for the main reason that these starting chapters were the epitome of telling and not showing. I couldn’t place myself in the environment or see the characters’ faces, all I saw was the words on the pages, if ya’ get what I mean. But after I was given the opportunity to leave Katherine’s boring head and bounce around in the other characters’ head, the story grew more and more interesting and quickly graduated to four stars.
It also helps that I’m a Scorpio: “Scorpio is the most sexually charged of all the Zodiac signs.” We are, aren’t we? *wink*
I enjoyed it. I liked all the characters. There’s lots of sex, BUT, not repetitive sex with the same people. Isn’t that given? Everyone was getting laid in this book…or whipped…or sucked…even blackmail sex was being enjoyed!
Oh, Cecile is my favorite character. I always love the villains! Mwahahahaha!!
A very enjoyable read i was sucked in straight away, i loved the main characters especially Tim. I found in a way this read was equally about how Tim is exploring his sexual fantasies, finding out things he never knew he would be interested in, let alone be aroused by, just as much as Katherine is at having hers fulfilled. The story is easy to read and the intimacy and love between Tim and Katherine is simply gorgeous, the diary sharing of their needs and thoughts to each other packs a punch. Connor is your stereotype, rich and gorgeous, slightly cold and all demanding, his past is why he is like this, until Katherine reappears in his life. I'm not sure how this threesome is going to span out but i for one can't wait to read more! It has a lot more going on but i don't want to spill all the good stuff. ;-)
This is romantic and very sexy, arousing and heartfelt. One to read for sure!
I was torn between a 3.75 and a 4 on this one. Scorpio Awakens is a story about Katherine King who is married to a wonderful husband Tim, but there is something missing that she cannot quite identify until her ex lover Connor comes back into her life. Dominant Connor pushes Katherine into a sexual peak that is not replicated, but she is unwilling to continue unless she has her husband's support.
This one was out of my comfort zone a bit because she is a married women, I generally shy away from this type of plot but I was intrigued. I will say It was completely unexpected and not predictable. The ending was a cliffhanger to be sure and I would pick it up to see what happens. I struggled with that I liked Connor best and found myself intrigued with his character more than any of the others.
I absolutely loved this book. The book was well-written & I loved the twists and turns that it took! The characters are very interesting & you can feel something for each of them. I can't wait to read the next book to find out what happens!!! I would highly recommend this book to everyone!!
I'm not a spoiler girl, but seeing as this happens in the first chapter... You killed off Meredith?!? What the heck? Alright, I love Kat too, but it was Meredith! Another thing is I guess I can't see these characters as 20 years later. Maybe 5 or 10 years but 20 years? They are all considered having ravishing beauty, but let's face it folks, 40 year olds aren't turning hears like stated. I had a those few issues with this book but all in all, I really liked it. It has a R rating in the naughty department but seeing as this is a BSDM book, it is a bit tame, but still got the ole juices flowing. The BSDM was more in-depth then the last story but still a little basic. Getting ready to start the last in the series, hope it's as good if not better than this story.
Sad to say that I had such high hopes for this considering I am one of those readers who enjoys heroines over forty and would like to see more of them, especially in erotic romance/erotica. I also love first-time authors who buck the trends to write the kinds of edgy stories picky readers like me relish.
Unfortunately Scorpio Awakens left me wanting at times, face-palming at others. None of the characters was especially engaging or even likeable. In fact they tended to read more like spoiled children than serious adults dealing with the lull that tends to happen in even the best of marriages. I found these characters to be self-centered and annoying and worse, annoyingly PERFECT in the looks department. I guess I should have been warned when I saw 50 Shades of Grey mentioned in a glowing review on Goodreads.
The D/s is fairly tame considering the forty-something heroine Katherine wanted to cheat on her husband because she felt the sex between her and her ever-loving hubby Tim was in her words "vanilla"'. Sorry sweetie but the oh-so "edgy" sex you had with the lust-of-your-life Connor wasn't any big improvement. A blindfold and handcuffs does not "edgy" or "wild" make. I did like the fact that Katherine and Connor negotiated what she wanted and that he respected her enough to stay within the parameters, though what she refused was exactly (in my mind at least) what she was looking for with this other man.
There was the painfully laughable moment when I read hubby Tim's name for his manhood--"Big Hugh" (short for Hugh G. Rection--someone call Jeff Stryker!). OMG, every time I read the sex scenes (which were less erotic but very loving and respectful, at least between Katherine and Tim) where "BH" was mentioned, I just started laughing. Certainly NOT the reaction any erotica author is looking for. A fairly serious book turned horribly comical.
Of course there's a fabulously wealthy billionaire with love issues (the aformentioned Connor), a bitchy wife (ex-wife) with an agenda, past abuse of the heroine, dastardly deeds by EVIL WOMEN to separate the heroine from TWU WUV...in short everything I LOATHE in many erotica/erotic romance books these days. Granted this was an interracial romance which was why I was willing to give this a shot. I didn't like the sparse descriptions of Katherine as being "creole", since I never had a definite image of what she looked like. In fact the only reason I know that Katherine was a woman of color is because I specifically asked the author. No, I don't need endless descriptions of "caramel-colored or mocha-colored skin" but something a little more substantial to make her feel more real. However, this glaring omission wasn't confined to the heroine. None of the characters felt finished.
Another thing that caused me to give this book two stars was the treatment of the other female characters. Outside of Katherine, Cecile and Sophia are the quintessential bitchy femme fatales. I've become more critical of that trope over the past year and find it rather unnecessary in most cases. Contrary to popular opinion, women CAN be friends and can indeed CARE about other things besides a man (i.e. The Bechdel Test).
The overall idea of the novel was brilliant as it explored concepts like love, lust, marriage and trust. Once again it's all about lack of follow-through and the blandness of the characters. I was hoping for mature characters who weren't perfect or who "had it all" and less immature wish-fulfillment.
In this erotic second book in the Scorpio Saga, we rejoin gazillionaire Connor McClane in his sexploration of BDSM.
Twenty years ago, Connor McClane Had the world by its oysters. Then one sunny day, the woman he was meant to spend his life with died, and any light inside Connor died along with her. He's spent the years since becoming the powerful media mogul behind Magnum International, needing nobody, allowing nobody to get close enough to care about. Until Kat.
Katherine King spent one amazing night with Connor in college, but her Victorian upbringing stopped her from pursuing the naughty kind of things he wanted from her. When she sees him again at work, those memories rush back in full force and she's helpless to resist. Connor doesn't hesitate to introduce Kat into his kinky BDSM world, and she quickly discovers what's been missing in her own world. But with her ex-boyfriend Tim returning and wanting to rekindle their relationship (with Connor's help…awkward!), and Connor's crazy business associate Cecile wreaking havoc, Connor and Kat will have to stand united if they're going to make it through this unscathed.
SCORPIO AWAKENS is the second book in the Scorpio Saga featuring the über wealthy Connor McClane and his adventures in the world of BDSM. I wondered where the story would go after Connor and Meredith's HEA in the first book, so I was rather surprised by her abrupt departure in this book. BUT I really liked this book much more than the first one. The writing style flowed a lot better, the combined POV from Connor and Kat (and occasionally Tim and Cecile) kept the storyline from becoming dull and the light feeling of suspense throughout kept me intrigued.
I still am not in love with Connor; his hot and cold attitude and abrupt rudeness did nothing for me. However I enjoyed Kat immensely. She was a very strong female character, one who didn't cave to her submissiveness anywhere other than in the bedroom.
So the BDSM scenes…for a Dom who owns several sex clubs and has been in the lifestyle for twenty years and embraced everything about it, the scenes were surprisingly mild. There was light bondage and a bit of spanking, but most of the play centered around power plays, sex with others, voyeurism and orgasm denial. The way that Connor treated Kat after sex bothered me, especially since he's trying to get Kat to ditch her ex for him. His stunted personality didn't win him any points with this reader. Even so, I'm looking forward to the culmination of this series with the final book, Scorpio Rising.
Bottom Line: Decent read and good follow up to Scorpio Begins. Props to Ms. Darville for mentioning Baco Noir wine, a delicacy everyone tried to convince me was a figment of my imagination. - See more at: http://www.theromancereviews.com/view...

Review copy provided via Reading Alley in exchange for an honest review. Book is sexy as hell. The main characters are interesting and complicated. The chemistry between them undeniable. The villains were truly terrible. I like how the author made Katherine a very strong woman not a doormat, but like to surrender sexually. Usually when a writer writes about a woman who is a submissive she is wimpy and does anything to get the guy to love her. Katherine is NOTHING like that and I love that! She knows what she wants and she goes for it. Never make Conner mad! I would definitely read the next book!
SPOILER ALERT. After reading the first book, I was very keen to start on the 2nd, to see where Meredith and Connors relationship would go. Boy what a ride! I was surprised by having Katherine introduced and wasn't sure how it would work as I was so engrossed with Meredith from book 1, but this one was even better! Loved the characters, the development of Katherine and Connor was brilliantly done and I so hoped for them to have their HEA, and Lilith didn't disappoint! I have to say kudos on Cecile character, what a nasty piece of work she is, brilliantly done! Can't wait for book 3!...hope Tim and Brian both find their HEA?!
