Ok.... So another Cross man stole my heart in Three of Spades by W. Ferraro. I devoured this book in one night.... Yes you read that right.... ONE NIGHT!!!! This is a MUST read and a well deserved 5 stars!!

Three of Spades by W. Ferraro is about a steamy, angst ridden, alpha male stud muffin going after the shy Kindergarten teacher and losing his heart to a woman for the first time ever!!

Dylan Cross is a successful general contractor in cahoots with his two long time best friends and is well known as being a love Em' and leave Em' man. That is until Natalie, the sweet Kindergarten teacher, gives him a proposition he can't refuse. Dylan isn't sure what he is getting into when he accepts Natalie's offer to "teach" her a thing or two about relations within the bedroom walls... Well in this book in was relations WHEREVER Dylan felt the need arise... Wowwy... Wow... Wow and did Dylan teach Natalie some things!!!!

Natalie is a mousy, absolutely nothing stands out about her, normal woman who has put her life on hold to take care of her dying mother. Her two brothers are complete douche bags and treat her as if she is hired help and has done nothing but get in their way her entire existence. Natalie's mother is concerned that Natalie is going to grow old never finding love except for tray be the love of a 100 cats. She convinces Natalie that she needs to "live" and that means letting her mother live in a hospice. Natalie decides she needs to convince her mom that she is living and she doesn't need to move into a hospice for Natalie to find love.

By a chance encounter Natalie bumps into.... Literally... None other than the hot sex fiend Dylan Cross. It was that moment that she decides he is "the one" to venture where no man has gone before and play the part of HER lover! I loved the relationship that developed between Dylan and Natalie. Three of Spades lured me in by the tale of two lost people, both who are viewed as having everything together, and how they find what they even never realized they were missing!

Great job by W. Ferraro at developing characters that her readers can relate to and creating a world we can get lost in! If you are looking for a hot, steamy, oh my gosh he did that???? Book... Here you go!!! A very well deserved 5 stars go to Three of Spades! Go 1- Click and jump on the I love Dylan Cross band wagon!!

I’m finally back on Hamden ground! Yay! Once again, I found myself immersed in a world filled with fun lovable and perfectly flawed characters. It was a lot like coming home and meeting up with some old friends you hadn’t seen in a while, and this time around, I was lucky enough to snuggled in with Dylan (let me just inform you ladies, he is smoking hot and owns a Challenger (while this may not do it for some, it definitely does it for me!)).

Natalie and Dylan’s initial introduction was interesting to say the least. Natalie's personality presented as a shy woman who struggled with confidence and esteem issues. She hates drawing any kind of attention to herself, so when she propositioned our hero (or should I say offered a “business arrangement” our bad boy couldn’t refuse), I was chomping at the bit. I LOVED that Wendy went down this route, it isn’t often you see the female lead make such a naughty suggestion, especially one who views herself as plain and undeserving. Not to mention, an untouched virgin at that. Natalie was pure in spirit, body, and mind; she never even had the privilege of experiencing her first kiss. Needless to say, when she approached Dylan with her arrangement, our girl was so far out of her league (and I don’t mean this in a derogatory remark against her looks) it wasn’t funny (I mean it in a huge player vs. inexperienced virgin kind of way).

Now here is where it gets a bit tricky…I struggled with Three of Spades a bit, there were pieces to it I loved and then some not so much. Book 2 resembled book 1 in that aspect. I know that I am in the minority here, as this seemed to be everyone's favorite couple, however, please don't bean me; I actually enjoyed Three of Hearts more. Three of Spades held the potential to be a four star review and it would have definitely gotten it if I were able to connect with the heroine a bit more; Natalie kind of did me in. As with Seth in the first book, I also had a love/hate relationship with a specific character in this one. I found I had a hard time connecting with Natalie for about half the book. I’m not saying I didn’t like her, because I liked her well enough it’s just she and I didn't mesh well together. I think the reason for this is I struggle with characters that come off as too negative over a long period of the book. Therefore, instead of empathizing or sympathizing with them as the author intends for us to do, I find myself not able to connect or invest in their character. However on the other hand when things were headed towards her personality taking on a more positive feel, my thoughts regarding the heroine changed, in those moments I ended up loving Natalie and what she brought to the table. Her character growth and development was a lot of fun at times, and I felt she fit in perfectly with the other girls of Hamden. I loved that her focus was on her sick mama and taking care of her. Natalie really did have a heart of gold, and it often showed. This is where Dylan was perfect for her. He handled her heart and feelings with soft care showing her that she was indeed important. Dylan's loving actions helped her see that she was anything but plain and unassuming.

Please don’t allow my struggles with Natalie to discourage you from reading Three of Spades; it honestly is more of a personal preference issue than an author’s development or writing issue. I am very hard on my heroine’s and certain aspects that irk me may not bother another reader at all. Three of Spades is most definitely worth giving a shot and in retrospect Natalie really is a well-built character who ends up coming into her own as the book goes on. Just an FYI, once you met Natalie's family it becomes easy to see why she views herself as she does.

I must note that one of my absolute favorite scenes in the book involves Natalie, lingerie and the hood of a 1971 Cuda. Holy hell, let me just say when Natalie comes out of her shell she pulls out all the damn stops! Our heroine took me by surprise (in a wicked good way) when she put aside her self-doubt and owned not only her sexual confidence but also Dylan and his car! That scene was wicked hot and sexy; I am not ashamed to admit I was yelling at Natalie to rock his fucking world for the both of us!

Dylan, holy hell did that man play with my insides. EVERYTHING about him was simply delicious, right down to the cars he owned. Kim told me I would like him much better than Seth, as she followed up with a "he's mine!" And, she would be correct; I definitely adored Dylan. Although, I'm holding off on agreeing or disagreeing with my blog partner's, "he's mine!" until after I meet Wes (who has stolen my attention and senses) on a more personal basis. If there is one thing I can say about Wendy, it's that she definitely knows how to write a hot-blooded alpha male. He was wicked sweet, but don't let that fool you because Dylan also knew exactly when to take charge and how! I most definitely would not kick that man out of my bed for eating crackers!! Hmm, Dylan do you think Natalie would let you off the leash for a bit, so you can come teach me a few lessons??

There’s just something about this town and the characters within it; they seem to draw me straight in, hooking me from start to finish. I can’t help but enjoy the hell out of them. Three of Spades was no exception. With two books down, I find that I am quickly becoming addicted to the quirky characters of Hamden. This chicka is anxious and excited to get down and dirty with Wes and Lola's story (thankfully I don't have to wait for them). I have a feeling they will be a bit darker, which is one of my favorite types of reads. On that note, I will just state that Wendy has definitely made a fan out of me.

P.S. In Three of Hearts, I experienced some concerns. I am excited to say that the issues concerning editing, point of view changes, and transitioning have all undergone a vast improvement. Yay to a much smoother read!

Thank you, Wendy Ferraro, for the opportunity to read and review Three of Spades in exchange for my honest opinion.

Dylan. Tall, dark, and handsome as the cliche goes...

Now I already adored Dylan from the first book Three of Hearts and was looking forward to seeing the cocky, flirty, playboy to find his match. And I can honestly say that this book drew me right in, made me stay up til 1:30 am, and I completely loved it.

Dylan loved women. He loved how different one could be from the next. He saw beauty in all female forms. In his opinion, there was nothing better than the softness that only a woman could offer. Little else was above the respect and enjoyment he received from each woman he bedded and he made sure none of them had any complaints about him as a lover.

Natalie is an isolated bookworm and kindergarten teacher who has prioritized taking care of her ill mother and not really lived her own life. She is sweet, loving, nurturing, and has never really had a relationship or lover. Natalie is about as far as possible from Dylan's "type" as you can get.

...she picked up her recent cowboy novel and started to read. Reading was not only one of her few gratifying pastimes for Natalie but it also helped her cope with the ongoing stress of Gloria's disease. Natalie enjoyed how she could transport from reality to the story. She imagined that she, herself, was the heroine. It was easy to relate to the heroine's less than attractive looks and self-image. She was intrigued as she read how the heroine made a simple business proposition to a local rancher and how the turn of events and feelings made for a sensual story.

A challenge and a chance meeting changes everything.

Natalie looked at Dylan Cross, notorious sex god and heartthrob, directly in his gorgeous dark eyes and said, "Yes, I'd like to pay you to have sex with me."

Dylan is fascinated by the shy young woman who seems to have no idea of her own appeal and no clue how to be involved with a man. She wants something and Dylan seems like her best candidate. He is not sure it is a good idea, but he is already intrigued enough not to want her to ask anyone else. So he signs on to be her "fake" boyfriend and to teach her about sex.

He suddenly could not help but question if he were really lucky or ultimately just accused of not having any ethics or decency at all.

It does not take long for things to progress. They are remarkably well suited for each other despite their pasts and differences. I loved them as a couple. Dylan was so patient, supportive, protective, and loving towards her. I loved seeing the changes in Natalie as she found a sense of self confidence and worth. It was interesting seeing Dylan realize that sex is more when you feel something for the woman. And it was fun to see his friends torture him about going from the guy with an attitude to someone who seems happy. They were hot, passionate, and out of control.

He stared down at her wondering how a so-called inexperienced virgin could rival any sex siren he had ever known, even as he tried to convince himself that she was, in fact, who she said she was not some evil femme fatale.

"Babe, once again, you made me lose control and I never lose control."

When their time was over, he would go back to his usual way of fun times, short times. But now, with her, he wanted to be someone else. He wanted to be what she needed and ultimately deserved.

And they are clueless about each other's feelings. Fear, miscommunication, and outside influences all conspire against them. And I was totally turning pages trying to see if they were strong enough to make it work. I could not put it down. Dylan literally made me swoon in this book. And I love that these books have epilogues!

I enjoyed seeing more of the characters in Hamden, including Seth and Mae and Robyn and Bryan. And learning more about Wes and being introduced to his love interest in the next book. The prologue at the end of this book already has me intrigued and a bit confused about what is really going on in Three of Diamonds. I am looking forward to their story.

Thanks to Wendy Ferraro for allowing me to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

**KIM'S REVIEW**

Natalie has been taking care of her mother, Gloria, ever since she got sick. She’s never been close to her brothers and they are never really around. Gloria only wants to see Natalie happy and in a relationship before she dies. She thinks that by moving out and showing her daughter some tough love Natalie will finally put herself out there.

“Natalie, you need to stop hiding behind me and your job and go put yourself out there if you don’t want to find yourself pitiful and alone.”

Natalie is a virgin and considers herself “quite plain” and “physically lacking.” However she feels that desperate times call for desperate measures. She decides to go out to the bar for the night and offer to pay someone to be her fake boyfriend. As luck would have it she ends up walking into “Hamden’s own notorious playboy” Dylan Cross.

“Dylan loved woman. He loved how different one could be from the next. He saw beauty in all female forms.”

She decides he is the perfect man to proposition.

“So you wanted to discuss a business proposition?”

“Yes, I’d like to pay you to have sex with me.”

Dylan has no clue why someone like Natalie has such a poor self-image and would need to pay for sex when she could just as easily find the real thing. He also knows that if he doesn’t say yes to her she’ll find someone else and he doesn’t like that idea either.

“What would it be like to know you were thought of first thing when someone woke up and that you were their last thought before they fell asleep at night?”

I loved seeing how their relationship went from something simple to so much more. Dylan never really stood a chance thinking he’d be able to just leave her when the time came. Of course we have to throw an ex fling into the mix which makes Natalie question everything she was feeling for Dylan or what she thought he was feeling for her.

“Come on Babs, you know I’m in capable of love. No, I don’t love her. How could I?”

UGH...DYLAN!!!

I read this book in a few hours and really enjoyed it. There are a few twists that leave you feeling anxious and wanting to know what will happen next. I can't wait to read the next book in this series.

Dylan Cross...Wow! So hot, so impulsive, so in love with Natalie...Almost from the second they meet, Dylan is the perfect boyfriend even though he keeps his bad boy edge and impulsivity. Natalie just gets to be the lucky recipient of all that! Isn't that what most of us want--the bad boy who focuses all that badness on us?! I absolutely loved Dylan and Natalie's story. They were so real and so adorable together. She's the perfect counterpoint to all that Alphaness. Love it, loved their story, can't wait for Wes although I'm pretty sure Dylan has my heart!

I absolutely loved this book! I read Three of Hearts not so long ago and really it so I was looking forward to reading this book. It did not disappoint. Natalie is the type of Heroine that you want to root for, a woman with an amazing heart who puts everyone above herself. Dylan is just swoonworthy and when the two of them come together it's just explosive. I recommend this book for anyone who's in the mood for a good ole fashion steamy romance!

I cannot believe this book has such a high rating. I never made it past Chapter 3. From the awful grammatical errors to the very wordy and awkward writing, this book is a disaster. I do not think I will be reading any more books from this author until he/she gets a good, quality proofreader.

Three of Spades by W. Ferraro is the second book in this series. I loved this book and loved the main characters, Dylan Cross and Natalie Parker.

Natalie Parker is a sweet, shy and reserved Kindergarten teacher who has been taking care of her sick mother. Natalie doesn't care much about what she looks like or concerned with finding a boyfriend at this time in her life. Her main concern is her mother and her career, which she loves. But her mother has been on her case lately, pushing her to find a man. Her mother wants her to live a little and find someone to spend her life with, instead of spending her time taking care of her. Wanting to try to please her mother, and get her off her back of course, she sets out to find herself a pretend boyfriend. Someone that is willing to pretend, for her mother's sake, top be in a relationship with her. And at the same time teach her about sex and desire. That someone is Dylan Cross. When they accidentally bump into each other at a bar, she knows that he is the one to help her.

Dylan Cross is a hot and sexy player who has no interest in a relationship. He has had his share of woman but is not one to fall in love with any of them. Natalie is not normally the type of girl that Dylan goes for. She is shy, lacks confidence and isn't so concerned with how she looks. She is your typical girl next door. But there is something about her that has Dylan interested in her, especially when she makes him an offer he cannot refuse. Dylan is not quite sure what he is getting himself into but has no problem accepting her proposal.

I love Dylan and Natalie together. All though what they have between them is strictly "business" so to speak, there is definitley chemistry between the two of them. Dylan is very sexy but has a sweet side to him, and you will fall in love with him the minute he meets Natalie. He plans on teaching her all there is to know about being sexy. Natalie begins to have confidence in herself that she never had before, Dylan makes her feel sexy and wanted. And at the same time Natalie makes Dylan feel things he has never felt before and he is not so sure what to do with those feelings. Their relationship is sweet, flirty, fun and extremely hot and sexy. They are both falling hard for each other, but Natalie has to wonder what will happen when their agreement is over? Will Dylan still want her and does he have the same feelings for her?

W. Ferraro has done such a wonderful job with this story and the characters. Natalie is someone that most woman can relate to. She is the quiet girl next store who has a big heart, doesn't see how sexy and beautiful she is. What I love is how Dylan helped her to see that, she became confident in herself, with her appearance and her sexual side, she became the woman who managed to steal Dylan's heart. There were a few twists and turns in the story that were unexpected and brought out the protective side of Dylan. All though it was just a "pretend" relationship he wanted to protect Natalie and didn't want to see her hurt. Dylan will definitely work his way into your heart, and have you fanning yourself at the same time. W. Ferraro knows how to write a hot sex scene, trust me after reading this book you will be wishing you had a 71' lime green Barracuda in your garage. This story will draw you in from the beginning and you will feel the connection with the characters. You will be rooting for Natalie and Dylan to find their happiness. I loved that the characters from the first book, Three of Hearts, were in this book as well. I love seeing the happily ever after continue into the next book in the series. Another great job by W. Ferraro and I cannot wait for the next book in this series.

3.5 out of 5 stars

Three of Spades is the second book by Wendy Ferraro about the men of Hamden, with a particular focus on Dylan Cross.

Clearly established as the 'bad boy' in Three of Hearts, Dylan is renowned for his 'love em and leave em' attitude. With a history of a steady string of short term, primarily physical relationships, the last thing Dylan anticipates is falling for Natalie.

Natalie Parker, a kindergarten teacher spends much of her time caring for her dying mother, Gloria. Gloria decides she needs to be "cruel to be kind" to ensure Natalie does not spend the rest of her life alone after her mother dies. As a consequence, Natalie seizes on a strategy from one of the many books she has read and decides to pay a man to pose as her boyfriend for her mother. Given her lack of relationship experience, Natalie decides she'll use the opportunity to learn about the physical side to a relationship as well.

With her strategy set and time slipping away, Natalie propositions Dylan for the role. Dylan negotiates what he considers to be an appropriate fee, establishes some terms and conditions of his own and sets out to 'educate' Natalie as best he can.

While a little predictable, the developing relationship between Dylan and Natalie is a delight to read. Dylan takes his role of 'boyfriend' very seriously, with a particular focus on his role as teacher in the bedroom. Some of the love scenes between the two are incredibly steamy and Natalie blossoms under his tutelage. As the time of their 'arrangement' draws to an end, it is apparent to both of them that there is more to their relationship than either of them intended. The question is, will Dylan and Natalie admit to themselves and each other, precisely how they feel?

There are other elements to the story that add to the intrigue and uncertainty of the outcome. We meet Natalie's brothers, Reggie and Sam, both of whom treat her badly and are trying to manipulate the care of their mother for their own benefit. We see glimpses of characters we met in the Three of Hearts and it's nice to see how their relationships are developing. There is even a disgruntled employee of Dylan's in the mix, that could have added a greater level of angst to the story if that part of the plot was a little better developed.

I really enjoyed Three of Spades, more so than Three of Hearts. There is something satisfying about a 'bad boy' coming unstuck in the game of love - although Dylan Cross is not as bad as he'd like people to think.

Ferraro includes an excerpt from Three of Diamonds at the end of the book, which, along with some of the scenes involving Wes Thompson and Lola, the new bartender at Cal's, within the book has peaked my curiosity for the next instalment in the stories about the men of Hamden.

Yet another man from Hamden has played the strings of my heart. In the first novel (Three of Hearts), Seth took my heart, then stepped on it… and then fixed it. Now apparently it’s Dylan’s turn. As much as I loved Seth in the first novel, W. Ferraro really came to bat when she wrote about Dylan. I mean, I would let that man go to home base ANY way he pleased. (Not sure why I referenced baseball, as I don’t particularly like it… but it worked.) W. Ferraro’s writing style just held me glued to my kindle. One sitting read? YES. However, I did read it in 2 sittings. I have a habbit of getting hit in the face with the kindle while reading, cause I refuse to stop… until I absolutely have to. This novel is not only INCREDIBLY steamy, but it’s an emotional journey on both lead characters parts that just shouldn’t be missed! W. Ferraro, you nailed it. Angst, lust, deception, betrayal, heartbreak, I could go on and on!

The characters in the book are completely out of this world with awesome-sauce. Dylan Cross, is a successful business owner who is well known with the ladies, as his reputation as a play boy precedes him. Until he meets little Natalie, a Kindergarten teacher, who gives him a proposition he just can't refuse. Natalie can be described as mousy, average looking and a plain normal woman who has made it her life to take care of her mother. As her mother is nearing her days, she is on Natalie’s case to finally get a life, and get a love interest. Not taking her mother’s advice, she decides to pretend to be in a relationship… Enter Dylan Cross. The relationship between Dylan and Natalie grew into something fierce, primal, and to put it simply – sexy.

I love how W. Ferraro intertwined the characters from Three of Hearts (Seth and Mae) along with Wes. Speaking of Wes, OH MY GOD I can’t wait until I can get my paws on Three of Diamonds!!! W. Ferraro leaves you always wanting more while being satisfied with everything you've read. I laughed, cried, yelled, cursed, and completely related with all the characters. I absolutely loved this book and I’m starting to see a trend here, that being that I LOVE W. FERRARO! Yep. That’s right. Ms. Ferraro has been added to my list of authors who I will buy without even having to read the synopsis. She is most definitely ONE CLICK approved.

I would recommend this book to EVERYONE. Especially for those who love a bad boy. Be honest, we all love the bad boy. Read Three of Hearts first though, as though they don’t necessarily have to be red in order – I would. There are some spoilery parts in this book about the characters in Book 1 (Hearts). Either way, these stories need to be read. RIGHT MEOW. Go, go, go and get a copy! I am proud to say that I will be meeting Ms. Ferraro at the Stamford Author Event, and getting ALL THREE of her books, to get them signed. I. Must. Covet. These. Books. FOREVER.

Ahhh, Dylan, the perpetual bad boy. Who doesn’t get hot thinking about taming someone a little dark and a lot handsome?! And what’s that, he has a motorcycle and a thing for muscle cars? Just a second, I need to wipe my keyboard where I drooled.
We met Dylan in Seth and Mae’s story, Three of Hearts. Now, Three of Hearts was hot, but I think Three of Spades was even hotter. There’s something about the confident player teaching a timid virgin that get’s the blood pumping.
Dylan and Natalie were fun characters. I liked that Dylan was tough but he treated Natalie with kindness right away. Natalie was almost the opposite, she was timid but became aggressive when needed. I was instantly intrigued to find out what a relationship between the two of them would look like.
Like, Three of Hearts, I enjoyed being able to see the situation from both characters points of view. Although at times it also made it more frustrating because you could see both characters wanted each other, they were just too afraid to say anything. Dylan was constantly fighting his feelings towards Natalie, while Natalie was continually reminding herself their relationship had an end date. Thankfully Ferraro always includes level headed friends in her novels to slap some sense into the main characters.
Speaking of friends, we get to see how Seth and Mae are doing (Fine, thanks for asking!). And even though it was a small part of the story I absolutely loved Wes and Lola’s scenes. The heat between the two of them was scorching. And it looks like someone’s tastes tend to be a bit darker. Yum!
Like Three of Hearts, family was a big part of Three of Spades. Too bad for Natalie most of her family seemed to have been dropped on their heads when they where children. I’m glad Dylan was there for Natalie because there were a couple times I wanted to reach through my e-reader and kick her brother’s ass myself. I know her mother was sick, but jeez, she couldn’t have stuck up for Natalie a bit more?
Something that this novel had that Ferraro’s previous didn’t was a little bit of mystery. It wasn’t a huge part of the story but it was fun. Plus it allowed for Natalie’s brothers to get what they deserved, and by “what they deserved” I mean a shitstorm of trouble.
I enjoyed Dylan and Natalie’s story. It was a quick read with some mystery, and lots of sexy. I definitely enjoyed it and look forward to reading the rest of Ferraro’s Hamden Series.

Oh, how I love Dylan. His niceness in Three of Hearts made me swoon for him and this book straight pulled out the rug from under me. I always thought he was like a knight in shining armor but I never dreamed he would be this yummy. He may be a womanizer, but he's a single bachelor, so what's the harm in having a little fun.

Poor Natalie man. She was suited with a horrible hand with the men in her life. It's no wonder she is a 28-year old virgin. I know I wouldn't trust my judgement with a father and brothers like that as role models. Sheesh. Talk about scum. I felt for her when her mamma was being so hateful, but I understood the reasoning. I'm sure no mother wants her child to always be alone like she was heading towards. She saw a problem rising with her mother and she found a unique way to solve it. And the steps she took to solve it floored me. She's got a major set of balls to offer Dylan a deal like she did. I literally had to place my tablet down, I was laughing so hard. She's so shy, but yet a confident sex siren all at the same time. She is the best of both worlds, and most guys wet dream I'm sure.

The relationship between her and Dylan had me swooning. He was so gentle with her in every manner. But yet domineering in a yummylicious way. He protected her from probable harm with her brothers and her mother. He was strong for her when she needed a shoulder to lean on. When everyone around her was putting her down. He even picked her back up whenever she put her own self down. When you are told something or treated a certain way for so long, eventually you are going to believe those cruel intentions. And believe she did, whole-heartedly unfortunately. From the very beginning, I saw that they were going to fall in love with each other. They had met their soul mates. And I'm glad that they discovered that before it was too late.

The twist with Jones I didn't see coming. Call me naive or whatever, but I never connected the dots between RJ and Jones and I'm glad that she didn't get hurt in the end. Instead it honestly brought her and Dylan closer. I'm glad they got their happily ever after and the babies to boot. Twins! Whooda thunk it! And girls at that. Lord have mercy on those two girls when they start dating. Daddy gonna have a F-I-T!

I am officially Team Dylan Cross! W. Ferraro kicked up the super steamy heat and suspense in her 2nd installment in the Hamden series. I love that "plain-Jane" Natalie was able to catch the eye of super hunk bad boy extraordinaire Dylan Cross. It was like a small victory for all of us women who don't wear stiletto's and barely there clothing with pounds of caked on makeup! That's one of the things I love about the characters in the Hamden series, the women are all real: real curves, real appetites, real concerns & responsibilities. They are so easy to relate to b/c they represent the average woman and everyday life.

In an attempt to make her dying mother happy, Natalie approaches Dylan with an unusual business proposition. She offers to pay him to be her pretend-boyfriend...with very real benefits. At first he's not sure what to think, but the thought of turning Natalie down and her propositioning some other guy is what makes him agree. He takes his "job" seriously and intends to give Natalie her money's worth, and does he ever! The attraction and intensity of their relationship grows with each passing day making the idea of ending things seem unimaginable. Without giving too much away I'll just say that this book is an emotional roller coaster as Natalie deals with her sick mother, evil brothers and her growing feelings for Dylan. Watching her come out of her shell and go all "I'm woman hear me roar" was an awesome journey to witness.

Not many books can keep me seated for a marathon reading session, but I finished this book in one sitting, I just couldn't put it down! Ms. Ferraro has created a perfect little town that instantly draws you in and makes you feel like a resident yourself. The characters (mostly the men) are seriously intense and unafraid to stake their claim and make a commitment. The idea of marriage or kids doesn't scare them off, like in most other books, in fact it draws them in even more! I can only hope that one day I'll find my very own Hamden hottie, but men beware b/c these guys are setting impossibly high standards for you to meet!

Three of Spades can be read as a stand alone but I would recommend reading Three of Hearts first to get the full Hamden hotties experience! I seriously cannot wait to get my hands on Three of Diamonds! Wes Thompson is going to have to bring his A game to out do Dylan Cross!

This book really did it for me! I’m the all time lover of angst, and I always want the Happily Ever After. But you don’t always know while reading the story if you’ll get that, so you read and you wait. Well, I absolutely loved this book and getting to the end was so worth the wait. I laughed and cried with the characters, and yelled at them when I didn’t agree with what they were doing. Don’t we all just love when the good girl and bad boy fall for each other? Don’t we all fall for the bad boy in books? You’re in for a romance ride with Dylan, he’s gonna have your heart in no time, it’s so easy to overlook things our bad boys do when it’s in a book.
I loved the development of the story and the way everything was paced, slowly enough to appreciate everything that was happening in the sub stories and fast enough to keep the pages turning, always wanting to know more. This story was so full of surprises, twists, and secrets to be found out as the story went on. The relationship with Dylan and Natalie wasn’t rushed, it unfolded gradually so you could watch the love between them grow, you cheered for them to make it no matter the circumstances that brought them together. Dylan was the notorious playboy and no one, not even himself believed he could fall for the “good girl, the girl next door”, but he did, without even realizing it. Natalie, the kindergarten teacher, devoted to her mother and her career sets out to find someone to pretend to be her boyfriend, but she got so much more than she could ever dream of. Being with Dylan changed Natalie in so many ways, and was fun to watch her develop from the quiet, shy girl, to the woman who won Dylan’s heart.

This story was really well written, the character development was so good, everyone played a role that was essential to the story, no unnecessary characters or sub stories, this book will make you take notice of this author and want to read whatever comes next. Don’t miss this book – be prepared to fall in love with Dylan and Natalie!

“Natalie, you need to stop hiding behind me and your job and go put yourself out there if you don’t want to find yourself pitiful and alone”.

Harsh words to hear from your mother! Gloria Parker was dying of cancer. Her and her daughter, Natalie, have a special bond and she knew her time was limited. She hated to be so mean to her daughter but she needed to make sure that Natalie would not be alone when she passed and if this gave her the push she needed, than Gloria felt that her scheme would be worth it. We all want what’s best for our children, but personally, I’m not so sure I would have been able to do this!

Natalie, a kindergarten teacher, is a 28 year old virgin and has a very negative self image. A chance meeting at a local bar forces her to step out of her comfort zone and approach Dylan Cross with a business proposition. “I’d like to pay you to have sex with me.”

Dylan Cross loves women and sex, he is a private person and the more you get to know Dylan the more you love him. He surprises himself with his feelings for Natalie and we get to see him become her knight and shinning armor and protector. It’s no wonder Natalie has such low self esteem when you get to know her brother’s and hear about her father. All Natalie wants is “to know what it’s like to be held in a man’s arms and to know I’m wanted both romantically and physically. Hence, if I am going to engage in such an affair, I want to make sure it’s full of occurrences and know-how that I can carry with me when I truly am alone.”

Dylan’s sensitive side clearly comes out with Natalie. We see a new side to him that shows us that he is looking for his soul mate. He is envious of the relationship between Seth and Mae and I think he is truly looking for that same kind of love and happiness, even if he has a hard time convincing himself. The infamous bachelor becomes tamed when he finds the right woman!

Honestly. I’m moving to Vermont, because they grow some mighty fine men there. At least they do in W. Ferraro’s vision of Hamden. Three of Spades is the second installment in her Hamden Series, and this time we learn about Dylan Cross and his twisty road to redemption at the hands of Natalie Parker.

Dylan is a womanizer. There isn’t much about the fairer sex he doesn’t enjoy. And that enjoyment is always on his terms with no strings attached. Until one fateful night when timid teacher Natalie walks into his life and offers him a business arrangement that knocks him for a loop – she wants him to pretend to be her boyfriend and to show her everything about sex. Now, he’s a notorious flirt and a bit of a man-whore, but her proposition makes him look long and hard at his life up to this point and the serious ramifications of what Natalie is offering. But there’s something about her that draws him to her, and he decides to take Natalie up on her offer.

Of course, along the way, their business relationship turns into much, much, more. As quiet, intelligent, and dutiful Natalie begins to come out of her shell because of Dylan, he also begins to realize what has been missing in his life. Is it possible that this petite beauty, the complete antithesis of every other woman he’s bedded, is the woman he’s destined to be with? Or is he okay with keeping to the agreement thus ensuring his carefree, duty free existence?

There is steam galore in this book, and a very healthy dose of alpha male. I enjoyed this second book as much, if not more, than the first, Three of Hearts. I’m glad I read them in order because of the background information that carries over and further character development. I’m now a fan of W. Ferraro after having a romping good time with two of her books, and am going to start on the third book in the series immediately!

Heat Rating: SPICY/HOT

Three of Spades is the second book in the Hamden series and can be read as a stand alone book (but I would read Three of Hearts first, so you have all the background information on what has been happening in Hamden)

Dylan, Hamden's local bad boy, is the next of the best friends to fall victim to love. This motorcycle riding, playboy that has a short attention span when it comes to relationships is finally brought to his knees by one sweet, innocent, Kindergarten teacher named Natalie. I love watching a bad boy/player fall in love, especially with a character so far from his usual tastes and Three of Spades definitely delivers!

W. Ferraro has written another great story that has strong characters that hold family in high regard. While the playboy/virgin is not my favorite of story lines, Three of Spades does a great job focusing on the growth of the character's feelings for one another and how they both are struggling to admit they want more than their original "arrangement".

This story hits all the notes; it was a quick read, with a splash of mystery, humor, romance and HOT scenes to make for a an enjoyable evening of reading. Even though you may how the story is going to end (it is romance, we expect the HEA) it is always nice when the reader gets a few surprises along the way and Mrs. Ferraro gives a few twists to keep the reader on their toes.

W. Ferraro has done a fantastic job writing the Hamden series and I love getting peeks into Wes and Lola's upcoming story as well as getting to revisit Mae and Seth (and of course, the kids). I can't wait to to keep learning about the men of Hamden and will be snatching up Three of Diamonds as soon as I can!

Oh wow.. I think I just fell in love. Ferraro certainly knows how to turn your world upside down a bit!

This book follows the amazing characters Natalie and Dylan. Dylan, the male lead we briefly met in the previous book Three of Hearts. I’m so glad he got his own book because this was such a good read! Natalie’s life is described by her mother as dull and boring. And it’s oh so true. Natalie spends her days working and caring for her terminally ill mother. Something she doesn’t and has never considered a Burdon. Her mother is such a sweet character I personally loved her! But she’s worried that her daughter spends too much time looking after her and not worrying about herself. That’s why she suggests that Natalie go out and get a life and put’s her in a residential care home to do so. Natalie is horrified at this idea to say the least and this is where Dylan comes in ;) Dylan is the definition of a ladies’ man and when Natalie LITERALLY walks straight into him, she decides he is the person she’s been looking for. Not to settle down and marry….Oh no, to show her the way around a bed room. But she has a condition, He has to pretend to be her boyfriend to her amazing mother. This may seem like a strange thing to ask of someone you’ve LITERALLY only just met, but for Natalie it’s her only choice.

There was no messing around in this book. Ferraro got straight to the point and my god it was amazing (And way hotter than the first book), it’s just so well written. The plot line is original and it is adorable to watch the lines blurring between these wonderful characters! The fact Seth and Mae, the characters from book 1, popped up make me so happy. This book has been one of my highlights for 2013! I’m so looking forward to reading book three <3

Every book boyfriend you have ever had better be shaking in their boots because there’s a new hottie in the book world! Who? Let me introduce you to Dylan Cross…

Shy and timid kindergarten teacher, Natalie Parker, will do anything for her dying mother…. Even give her every mothers dream that her daughter is in a loving and committed relationship but in true fact it’s a lie! Natalie has struck up a ‘business’ deal with Hamden’s very own playboy, Dylan Cross, and Cross has had every woman imaginable! Will it all end in tears? And if it does whose tears will they be? Natalie’s or Dylan’s?

Have the shower set to cold cos your gunna need it!
The sweet and innocent meets the hot and sexy playboy…… That got your attention didn’t it!?! This book will have you gripped from page one!
I loved the sweetness of Natalie’s character, her love for her mother and wanting to give her everything before her time was over was so touching. What I didn’t like we’re her ass hat of a family!
As for leading hottie, Dylan Cross (yes, another Cross to add to the book boyfriend collection ladies) WOW! Known as the ‘playboy’ of his town you know he’s going to be the kind of guy who doesn’t like to commit to one woman, but I loved how his world is turned on its head by the geeky book nerd Natalie (hope for us here and her mothers words not mine)

This book is sad, funny, romantic but HOT as hell! Not to mention highly recommended…….. I haven’t read the first book, Three of Hearts, but I now plan on reading it before the third book, Three of Diamonds is released.

Dylan, don’t you just love that name? It reminds me of Dylan from 90210 when I was kid, and I was so in love with him, I even have a Dylan doll ( shh don’t tell anyone!). It seems that I have fallen for many men named Dylan in the books I’ve read. Well if you have not read the first book in this series, Three of Hearts, please go back and do that. Why? Because you will want to read about this Dylan as soon as you can, but you have to meet him and learn more about him from book one to really understand him in his story.

In this book, there is a twenty-eight year old virgin named Natalie, not many of those around anymore. I was quite amazed by that revelation. Dylan is (I really do love saying that name) the playboy, the love and leave them kind of guy, no commitments for him ever. NO WAY, NO HOW. Dylan thinks he is doing a good thing, helping the virgin. He is teaching her how to have sex, saving her from possibly asking someone else that could hurt her, He is also pretending to be in a relationship with her, for show to ease her dying mother’s wish to see her daughter happy. Dylan is sweet with Nat, but oh does he teach her all the ins and outs (yes pun intended) of sex. Natalie’s confidence grows and her beauty shines brighter. Dylan does not see it coming but Cupid hit him with the arrow piercing straight through his heart.

If you’re looking for a book that will make you hot and bothered but you also enjoy great dialogue and storyline, you will love Three of Spades. You will get a happy ending, actually there are many happy endings in the book! Wink wink.

I received this book for my honest review and here it is..

What can i say about Dylan Cross? I fell in love with his snarky attitude in the first book.. his badboyness, his devil may care attitude. I just loved him..He's every girls naughty fantasy and he has no qualms about being with anyone. If your a female your his type.. this was one of my favorite things about Dylan..

Then ther is Natalie. She's cute in your school kindergarden teacher-ish kind of way.. She dresses kind of mousy and pretty much just stays home whenever shes not working.. She is the total opposite of the ladys man that Dylan makes himself out to be.. Natalie has a lot on her plate and as her mom gets more and more sick she looks for a way to try and please her.. Guess what that would be? Yup, a man.

Natalie has never been with a man and as mousy as she is you can tell why but she is determined to make her moms wish happen.. When

Natalie and Dylan bump into each sparks fly but can this school teacher put a leash on the old dog Dylan or will Dylan corrupt the inocent little school teacher.. Hmm.. guess you need to read it to find out..

i really love the stories from these books and i can't wait for the third to see what happens with Three of Diamonds..

Three of Spades

I would to thank W. Ferraro for providing a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I have to admit I prefer The Three of Spades to the Three of Hearts and was extremely happy to see that W. Ferraro didn’t have the same issue of overusing character names in this book.

This is the story of Dylan and Natalie.

I’ve got to say I LOVE Natalie. She may be shy, she may be inexperienced and she may embarrass herself to the point even I was embarrassed for her, but she’s also feisty and not a complete walk-over.

With this book there is more suspense. The book has you wondering when things are going to happen and when they do, well they really do come from the left wing.

The book flowed really well for me and I was able to loose myself in the story finishing it in a few hours. I like the way the book switches from different POV without confusing you and leaving you wonder whose head you’re in now. The dialogue between the characters is real and again this just drew me in.

I loved the cameo roles that the characters from Three of Hearts played in this storyline and also the teaser of Wes and Lola. That has me hooked and impatiently waiting for the next book in the series.

Three of Spades is not only a story of love and desire, it takes you on a journey of two people who have been so lost. They had no clue how lost they were. Dylan is the definition of playboy and loves his womanizing ways. Natalie is a kind and kindred soul who has no clue the powers she holds within. Feeling lost and lonely Natalie is dealing with her mother and feels so unwanted. To appease her mother she comes up with a plan of deception. A plan that will either make her or break her. Dylan has the ultimate gift laid in his lap. Will he be able to fulfill the needs and just walk away? This “deal” takes them to levels and feelings neither of them knew existed. When all is said and done and all the cards are on the table will Natalie be enough? Well let’s just say by the end of this story Dylan and Natalie will not be who they were in the beginning. They were made to balance each other’s mind, body and soul.

“Please Dylan let me know again what it’s like to feel you deep inside me.-Natalie”

“My heart it’s yours it always has been. If you choose to leave, take it with you, because I will not have any use for it. Not without you anyway.-Dylan”

I thought I had Mr. Cross figured out after reading Three of Hearts. Selfish playboy, thinks mainly with the brain below his waist! BOY WAS I WRONG!! This book was beautiful! It felt so good to see Dylan behaving like a total gentleman. I enjoyed seeing him fall for a Natalie, Although this relationship started as a business arrangement, watching it develop into something more was VERY touching....

And those bedroom scenes!!!

HOT!!!!!!!

It's quite funny that all it took to tame this bad boy was a Kindergarten teacher who wore glasses and regular clothes. The change is him was awesome. The way he took care of her and protected her from ANYONE, even members of her own family made me love Dylan (I didn't care too much for him in Three of Hearts). Dylan wasn't the only one who changed.... Natalie transformed from a Caterpillar to a Butterfly in this book as well!. Another great read by Mrs. Ferraro!!!! Make sure you pick it up!!! I'm definitely staying tuned for Three of Diamonds!

I am a lover of all contemporary romance not matter what it is. This book on the other hand was amazing because it did not repeat the same format as most of the others do. Of course you have your hottie Dylan Cross. They you have Natalie Parker. I love her. 1. Because she is such a sweet loving person with a huge heart 2. She is your everyday girl. She is not some runway model. She is self-conscious, insecure and has low self-esteem. This is what I love most about the book because it is so much easier for the everyday person to relate to.

Dylan was living life just fine and dandy till he get an offer from Natalie that he can't refuse. Well it's not that he can't he doesn't want to. More and more time that he spends with Natalie she turns his world upside down and he teaches her so many things in and out of the bed. (Waves self) From the minute that I opened this book I could not put it down. It is a definite page turner. I highly recommend this book to anyone. Wendy Ferraro you have gotten me hooked onto another series. Please check out her books. Three of Spades, Three of Hearts and waiting on Three of Diamonds to be released. Anxiously awaiting the release of the third book.

OMG, I loved book one in The Hamden series and I definitely loved book 2. In this book we follow Natalie and Dylan. Natalie is a shy kindergarten teacher and is dedicated to make her dying moms life as easy as possible. Her mother is worried that her daughter is wasting her time and wants her to start living and find a man. To try and give her mom her last wish she goes out looking for a man that can play her pretend boyfriend but also a man that can teach her about sex and desire. At a bar looking for that man she runs into Dylan, the town playboy. Who better than him to teach her everything. Dylan loves women, all women, no matter what size or shape and he decides to take Natalie up on her offer to teach her everything and pretend to be her boyfriend. What starts as a business deal soon turns into so much more. I laughed and cried and I loved both characters and I was rooting for them to get through everything and be together. Wendy Ferraro has a great writing style. I loved that the characters from book one made an appearance again because they just feel like one big family. Another fantastic story and I can’t wait to read book 3.

Natalie and Dylan.... This story is so much more different than Three of Hearts. This story is what I was looking for! No wishy-washy dialogue. No sappy lovey-dovey relationship. Just raw passion and real-life relationship material.
When reading a story about a "play boy" and a sweet woman, you expect some drama.... Drama you get. But you would think that the drama would lie in ex-lovers of the "play boy".... Not the case here. Yes, there is some drama surrounding him, but not the ex-lover type of drama. There is also drama from Natalie's side too. Her selfish, unloving family provides us with some intrigue and a little bit of mystery!
I adore this book. I almost couldn't put it down! I can't wait for Three of Diamonds to come out... I am desperate to see which guy it will follow! I have my suspicions, but I will not say.
**This book is the second book in the Hamden Series, but it can be a stand alone book. Although I recommend reading Three of Hearts first to get a better picture of the characters in the book.
