*dies from cuteness* Oh my gosh, this manga is just adorable! Realistic, sweet, cute, and I just love the couple. I am rooting for them. Tagami is a bit of a pervert, but he is also sweet and caring, you can see he truly likes Tsugumi. Soooo sweet!

I was at first a bit worried, it is not often that one finds a manga about a chubby character handled well. Often the girl is either very insecure + wants to diet, or just wants to diet. And thus turns into a thin girl again (at times very unrealistically like in Kiss Him, Not Me!). So I was kind of wondering how this manga would do it, and I have to say they did it perfectly!

Our MC still wants to diet at times, but only so she doesn't become too heavy. And I admire that, this girl accepts her chubbiness, but also wants to stay healthy. At times you will see her exercise, or try to eat less. Plus I also loved that she is pretty positive about how she looks, it took her some time, some bullying (booooo people), but she is comfortable in her skin (well, except when she has to go into a bathing suit, but that is logical, you show much more skin there). She found friends who love her for how she is, even love hugging her or as heater. She is strong and will definitely kick some butt if someone harasses her (go girl!).

Of course with her new relationship she is at times insecure, but this is something everyone has in those first stages of a relationship. Well, she may just have it a bit more because of her weight, but I don't think she should worry. She got herself a chubby maniac, I am sure the only reason why he is so hesitant is because he can't stop himself. :P

Yep, our MC is dating a chubby maniac. A guy whose preferences are chubby girls, and not just any chubby girls. Oh no. He wants someone like our MC who is chubby + happy + can smile + doesn't worry about her weight 24/7. I loved how he explained it to her when she thought he was just dating anyone who is chubby.
His pervertedness was at times a bit too much, and a bit too creepy, but eventually I got used to it. It was his way of showing affection.
I had such a laugh when he was exercising with our MC and he lost tons of weight to the point that he had to eat a lot to just gain weight again.
The only thing I didn't like was how he forced so much food on her. Sure, he did it unconsciously, but still it was a bit frustrating to see it happen.

We see our couple get closer and closer to each other, at times getting very close to kissing! I do hope we will see a cute kiss in the next volume! I love how these 2 match so well together, and how they make each other happy. It was definitely a delight when Tsugumi had to do x, that was quite romantic and brought them together for real.

The art is also pretty good, though I always think it is funny that chubby people are apparently shiny.

I will definitely continue reading this manga. It is fun, adorable, cute, and I am so happy to have a girl like this who embraces her body as it is.

I rarely give first volumes in a series 5 stars unless it's a re-read or a series I'm revisiting, but this series already means so much to me just from this volume alone.

As a fat girl I constantly feel undesirable and like I'll never have a chance with anyone based on my appearance and weight, so reading a series where the main character not only looks like me but has the same anxieties that are examined and overcome really does make me feel so comfortable in myself. The fact that the main character is also allowed to feel not just romantic but sexual desire, and it's discussed quite openly among the different female characters without ever putting any of them down for their feelings, is so great. This is the first manga I've read with a chubby main character, and I'm just really glad this exists.

Maybe it's just the translation I am reading. Maybe it's because it's setting is Japan...but I am mildly confused on a few things. First, I understand that Asians as a race are in general shorter --and yes, even in America women are short. But why is she SO MUCH SHORTER than him! Seriously, he's 5'10'' and she basically comes up to his waist in some of the art. Maybe it's because I'm a tall, fat girl. But it bothers me. Also, is she older than him? Some of the other students call her sempai in early chapters, but she also seems to occasionally share classes with him? What?! Is the managa-ka really that disorganized in her story telling or what?

In general, it's a cute, albeit at times sort of creepy, story and I am...enjoying it, I guess. "Enjoy" is maybe not the correct word, but alas I can't come up with a better one at the moment aside from maybe "tolerate", which sounds bad.

two words: quilty pleasure
Cute comics I enjoy as a chubby girl, who dreams about a sweet guy who would love her.
The drawings and plot aren't bad, the story is a bit naive but in a lovely way.

the author handles being chubby carefully, main heroine has the usual troubles and sometimes acts and looks silly but overal it's cute. Not stupid or offensive.

This is one of the mangas that I wished I had found earlier during my childhood.

Short Summary
Tsumugi is a plus size girl, who is kind to everyone around her. A handsome freshmen suddenly confessed to her one day telling her that he liked her and everyone labelled him as the "Chubby Maniac" who basically loves girls who are plus-sized. The manga is a heartwarming manga who handles the journey of a girl who is kind despite being ostracised and a guy who who fell for her.

At first, when coming into the manga, I was a bit skeptical on a a few things. Firstly, on how the author portrayed the guy to like her solely cause he is a chubby maniac. It was like saying that if he doesn't have that tendency, he won't even give her a second glance. Secondly, I'm always skeptic when reading mangas about plus size as I hated how the characters will have some kind of epiphany and change themselves to fit in the society's standards. Since I'm also plus size, its hard to read about girls who can't accept her body, mistreating everyone around her and basically did everything to be small but at the end of the day is not happy with themselves.

However, when I finished Volume 1, I was left with tears and a more profound love for not only myself and also accepting the idea of love as a whole. Mugi was potrayed to not only be kind but she never seems to talk bad about someone else. It may seem like she's a pushover, but its more that she was hurt so many times since she was young that she decided to spread kindness instead of hate. This was what made the manga special for me. It showed how Mugi had accepted the way she is. She's insecure, yes and we can see that with her relationship with Tagami, but she does not make belittle herself. Instead, she's just used to the idea of not being the person to be chosen when given a choice.

This manga is very relatable for me and I honestly love the dynamics between Tagami and Mugi. Despite being a chubby maniac, I love that the author had highlighted while the fact remains he prefers plus size girls, at the end of the day, he had fell for Mugi's warm smile and kindness. He had went out with so many others as well but he fell in love with Mugi due to her personality and thats had sealed the deal of this manga for me.

Loving yourself is hard, wether you're on the plus size or on the lighter size of the weighing scale. At the end of the day, what matters is how you treat the people around you, the way you bring yourself to show the world. Its hard to always be confident, but really, taking the quote from what Mugi had said,
"I thought, no one in the world would like me the way that I am now.
But the same time, I also thought, if that's the way it is,
Then I should at least like myself."

And at the end of the day, thats what really matters.

This manga is ADORABLE. It's my first time reading a story in manga with a 'chubby' character, much like me. I must confess, I thought it was going to be about a bullied girl and an unrealistic love story but it was actually handled beautifully. Yes, the story has its tiny unrealistic bits (hey, it's shoujo manga!) but all in all, I loved the fact that the main character is a typical chubby girl with insecurities but has her own friends and can hardly believe anyone can love her and has a wholesome family that also cares about her. It was very cute to read. Highly recommended!

I literally fell in love with Tagami. In fact which lightly round girl wouldn't be. Seeing him have so much difficulties looking at Tsumugi without being turn on was so powerful, it's extremely sexy. I will clearly read the 2nd manga tonight. I also find amazing to see their indifference from the comments of other high school students. I hope to appreciate it as much as the first. I devoured it in no time.

Reading this series online through fan translations.
Tagami’s behavior can be a bit creepy at times but it is clear that he does care about his girlfriend: Tsugumi. She seems like an absolute sweetheart but I worry that she’s a bit of a push over.
Overall this is a cute story and I’m curious to see how this relationship progresses.

The cover looks kind creepy but the manga itself was actually like drinking a cup of warm water, not exactly the most refreshing but it satisfies your thirst. It's rare to come across a manga with the lead not being a shy, skinny , insecure girl so it was nice. IT's just predictable, you either like warm water or you don't. Also the lead girl, is actually really adorable and not annoying and shy like most MCs which is nice.

I love it. She reminds me of myself eventhough I could never smile like her. This manga teaches that beauty is not in the eyes but in the heart. Also it shows that we have to love our selves no matter what and if you do every thing will be fine. I hope there will more chapters in the future. I can't wait to read them.

A chubby girl who loves to eat and a maniac boy fall in love, how's this for a change? I like how the mangaka tackles the issues of beauty based on appearances and how the society perceives fat people.
