Arthur doesn't care much about the popular radio program Dragon's Lonely Hearts until his ex-girlfriend calls in to slag him off and get advice. When he calls in and has an on-air argument with the host, it starts off more than he expected, including meddling friends, overinvolved fans, and maybe love.

It's an amazing coincidence to see that sometimes unpublished authors write so much better than ones who are published. This is one of those cases.
But It's a Good Refrain was purely sweet, romantic and decadent. It was so easy after a particularly tiring day, to indulge in a chapter of this story.
One of the reasons why I just love it so much, is because that it's not a love-at-first-sight story. It's more real than that. It's two people who meet together purely by accident on a radio show, and between them grows a wonderful friendship.
Arthur, who had recently dumped his ex-girlfriend, Vivian, turns on the radio one night, to hear her very voice ridiculing him on the popular radio-show, Dragon's Lonely Hearts .
His pride bristled, Arthur, in a rare moment of spontaneity, calls up the radio-show to give the host a strongly-worded reply. Merlin (the host) looses his cool for once and Arthur sends an apology. Merlin replies and soon they'd be corresponding once a day together.
Both of them didn't know it would grow into something better. That it would soon be a conversation between friends instead of strangers. But it did. It became something precious.
Arthur was forced to deal with the fallout of his latest relationship with Vivian when she discussed him in a late-night radio show. When he called the show, both him and the host got into heated argument. Later Arthur sent the host an apology letter, but when the host read it on air, it became a sensation among the show's fans. Arthur felt he had to at least contact the host through email. He got a reply, but the host only signed his email with an initial, M.
When M started to refer Arthur with 'My upstanding gentleman' on air, Arthur started to wonder if there's something more between him and the host...
This is a beautifully written fanfic. It's romantic and mature. There's no sex scene. The MCs don't even meet each other in person until later into the book. Both are likeable, as are their friends.
I don't understand why the author didn't just write with original characters. After all, the only things that come from the TV series are their names and some physical descriptions.
Cute and funny, but pretty lukewarm. The characters' personality wasn't strong and well defined. It felt as if each had a specific characteristic (bossy Morgana, clumsy, asshole-magnet Elena, maternal Mithian) and stuck to it, without further development. I would have liked to see either a little bit more of Merlin and Arthur's relationship or a little bit less, just the introduction. This way, it feels like the story was stopped halfway. I'm just now realizing that the pure appeal of Merlin being Merlin and Arthur being Arthur is making me like these stories more than I normally would. This would probably have been a 2.5* read, but being able to visualize the characters so clearly, both physically and temperamentally, helps me consider details that aren't necessarily mentioned in the story. Not a bad story, though; you might like it more than I did.
Cute fluffy read. Would have liked this without the Arthurian names and the characters being a little more developed, but it's still a really nice read.
I liked that they were in touch by email then text so that by the time they met it seemed like they were already a couple and yet awkward talking together. The premise of Merlin doing his show and his 'Upstanding Gentleman' Arthur sitting at home glued to his radio and emailing comments in amused me.
I sense a bit of a theme going on though No Business Like Show Business has communication via post-it notes pre-meeting!
Quite intriguing idea mixed with good execution. I truly liked this story and think, that it's definitely worth attention.
The whole thing is kinda cute and 'happy making', even if not overly exciting. I mean, this pairing it's just... nice. There's nothing characteristic about it or extremaly fascinating. They are who they are, so it's not a surprise, when a story about them is not exactly thrilling :P
Nevertheless, very good choice, when you're not looking for something specific, but you want something solid and not angsty ^.^
Really sweet, a quick read. I don't really get the Arthurian naming without it relating to anything, but it in no way spoils my enjoyment of a nice and slightly wacky little romance.
I genuinely enjoyed this story, but it didn't really stand out for me. I need characters together on the page and in this they spent too much time communicating via phone or text for me.
Sweet story...to the point of almost being sappy. Zero angst and a Merlin who is suave and rather debonair instead of clumsy and goofy which is a nice change.
their budding romance as they communicate first by old fashion letter to emails to eventually texting is nice. MMM, slow burn is nice. as well as adorkable Arthur
