'This is history as she is made, not as she is writ' - General Morrison

Bonfire's perspective, and the fact that it is written so realistically, makes this all the more touching.

What a great story - short quick read. An enlightening and interesting account of the writer of the famous poem "In Flanders Field" the author retraces John McCrea's footsteps through WWI telling the story through the eyes of his mount - Bonfire.

Remarkable story in 148 pages about both Jonh McCrae (author of In Flanders Fields) and his war horse 🐎 Bonfire.

Really enjoyed reading this book! I was lucky enough to walk into the bookstore on my birthday and meet the author. I love stories written in the perspective of an animal and I am a horse and animal lover myself so I could relate to John McCrae and Bonfire. I also enjoy history and feel it is important to remember all veterans. It is even more important to me with my brother now being in the army.

An educational book providing a history of John McCrae, author of In Flanders Fields. Written in the voice of his horse, Bonfire. Short but worth reading as a way to learn more about who wrote this iconic poem and what it means.

Very good book, written by an Albertan about John McCrae. Good history and good research by Susan Raby-Dunne.
