***IF YOU HAVE NOT READ BOOK #1, Overwhelm Me, DO SO FIRST***
New, up and coming indie-author AC Marchman is an author you will grow to love as you read her first 2 books in the Callahan Series. Book #2, Stay With Me, picks up right where book #1, Overwhelm Me, left off, taking you on another journey of love, trials, angst, self-discovery, and drama, drama, drama.
In book #2, Stay With Me, the main character’s stories develop much more and you get a glimpse in to more of Donovan’s past life growing up, and his “relationship” with Claire, and what helped make him in to the strong, successful young man he is now. There are introductions of new characters that aid in Donovan’s journey to move on from his past, whether in a positive or negative way, so he can focus on a future with Allie. But will his past prove to be too much for Allie to handle once she’s faced head on with the complete truth of Donovan’s past and his involvement with the infamous Claire Dubois?
Allie still holds true to the trusting, caring, wears-her-heart-on-her-sleeve, huge hearted, loving young lady that she proved to be in book #1. She is still very nervous and cautious of hers and Donovan’s fast paced relationship, but she wants to believe it’s all meant to be but still can’t throw caution to the wind in order to protect her already fragile state of self worth and her extra fragile heart.
Donovan is a man after every woman’s heart. He is doing everything he can think of to prove his love and devotion to Allie but it seems like around every corner is a new piece of a puzzle he thought he’d shelved many years ago to throw more doubt and questions in to Allie’s mind and heart. But he is determined to make her his and prove his heart is truly hers.
AC Marchman is a force to be reckoned with. She is honing in on a very special gift she has of writing and we just happen to be lucky enough to have her share it with us. She has a special knack of drawing you in from the first few pages and keeps you holding on until the end, hoping nothing “important enough” comes up and causes you any interruptions until you get to the very last page, and then she leaves you wanting even more. Strong character development , relatable emotions and situations are a few of the main things I look for I the books I read and this series is not lacking. I loved this book, as well as the first book, Overwhelm Me, and I absolutely cannot wait to read the third book. I tip my hat to you, Marchman, and wish you nothing but the best of success in your talented future.
