Serenity wanted stability. Life handed her a blender set to “high.” Hold onto your hope—she sure tries to.

What Did I Just Walk Into?
Imagine waking up and thinking, “Today might be the day I finally catch a break,” only for life to respond, “Cute. Anyway…” That’s Serenity’s life in a nutshell. After bouncing through more homes than a traveling circus, she finally settles somewhere semi-normal—and then all hell breaks loose. Literally.

Here’s What Slapped:
Serenity is a walking masterclass in emotional whiplash. You’ll go from “aww” to “OH NO” in under ten pages. Repeatedly.

The story doesn’t tiptoe around trauma—it cartwheels through it with a prayer in its pocket and a plot twist up its sleeve.

It’s short, but not sweet. This book punches above its page count, tossing you into emotional freefall before you can get too comfortable.

You think you know where this is going? You don’t. But it’s okay, neither does Serenity.

What Could’ve Been Better:
Blink and you might miss an entire subplot. A few scenes could’ve used more breathing room—then again, Serenity barely gets a second to breathe either.

The trauma is real and relentless, so if you need your YA with soft landings and group hugs… maybe not today.

Perfect for Readers Who Love:
Gritty teen survival stories that pull zero punches
Faith-fueled resilience in the face of absolute chaos
Short reads with big stakes and bigger emotional baggage
The kind of plot twists that make you sit up and check if you read that right
