The first history in thirty years of Boston's most celebrated heist details the inside story of what was dubbed the crime of the century and how the robbery caught the imagination of Boston and the world.
Stephanie Schorow is a Boston-area reporter and writer. For 12 years she toiled as a features editor and ink-stained scribe for the Boston Herald until she struck out on her own as a freelance writer in 2005. Her articles now regularly appear in the Boston Globe and other publications.
The heist was only the beginning of a great crime story. Stephanie lets us in on the inside of both the planning by the robbers and the pursuit by law enforcement. Great fun!
Loved this account of the famous Brink's robbery of January 1950 in Boston. Schorow does an excellent job of describing the planning of this heist to end all heists, her descriptions of the criminal's lives are funny and interesting. If you are a fan of crime novels or non-fiction you will certainly enjoy reading this book. My one problem, with the hard cover copy I read, was that question marks were upside down throughout the entire book! I wish someone had paid more attention to editing.....
This book relates the events before, during and after the famous Brinks robbery in Boston in the 1950. $2.5 million in cash was stollen and nothing was recovered. The robbers were tried and served prison terms.
very interesting yet slightly messy with the writing and organization of information. I enjoyed it but got frequently frustrated with lack of coherent information
