Falling for Him

Rate this book
A fateful childhood accident changes the course of Olivia Owens’ life. Her body left broken by a fall, she becomes a near recluse. She chooses to hide from society by pursuing a writing career, never stepping into the spotlight. Her loving parents coddle her, which only makes it easier to withdraw from the life around her.

Liam Palmer was twelve when he helplessly watched Olivia fall, and he blames himself for the mishap. Guilt propels him into a career in medicine, as he seeks a way to lessen the weight of the responsibility he bears.

After years apart, Liam visits Olivia to offer a surgical solution to her pain. He’s shocked to find a woman where the young girl had once stood. He struggles with his attraction at first, but soon realizes his perfect woman was right before him his entire life.

Olivia is leery, as the surgery he suggests has risks. She also shuns his advances, knowing he could never love the broken woman she is, no matter how much she wants to give in to the man she’s had a crush on her entire life.

Tied together by pain and guilt, they must break free of their past if they’re ever to have a future together.

About me? How anyone can summarize their whole being within a little block of space is beyond me.

I have tried on numerous bio pages and what not and I hate making them. :)

So, let's just say I wear many hats. Mother, daughter, friend, writer, boss, employee, student, lover, and whatever else I may do within my day.

We all wear many hats within our lives, and most days we are stressed beyond words because of them.

So I write down my words and hope that someone out there is entertained by them and it helps them escape for a few minutes into another place where there are no hats.

Um... the blurb is great. Right? Great!

So, what went wrong?

Long story short - this book is confused! And that's bad, because it has such a great potential!

It's short, everything's happening all at once, and at the same time there are tons of misunderstandings. The communication is non-existent. There's this whole drama about the surgery, and all the risks, and then they are having hot sex days after that same surgery! Unrealistic much??

I wanted to like it. Really. I did. But, it only left me frustrated and underwhelmed. Gah!!

Okay, so the basics:
No cheating, no crazy drama. One OW/girlfriend who was quickly ousted because he wasn't really into her. No sex scenes with OW, but there are sex scenes with h and H. HEA and a lead in to Bastian, the PT's story. A girl, Olivia, the h, has an accident when she. Was a kid and Liam, the H, who is a bit older, was there. He blames himself and becomes a dr to do back surgery for her. They get together after Olivia is so self conscious about her looks and Liam's feelings. She was a bit annoying at times but it all ends well. I want Ethan and Liam's story.

So different to another book I have of Ms Hurley's I think I could be forgiven for almost thinking this book was written by someone else. This is a nice, slow romantic journey that has enough of an old world feel to almost be confused with an historical romance. Some of the same editorial issues - incorrect spellings and missing words occasionally but overall a good read.

Cute contemporary for when you're in the mood for nothing too angsty.
Very Lifetime movie-esque.
