Elisha was taught by Elijah, the prophet. His mentor also passed on the amazing power God gave him. Elisha was able to guide people and perform miraculous works. I love the stories in this book. There are also referrals to the Bible. It took me a few hours to read this book, and then I could not wait to share it with a friend the next day. She and I are going to have a book discussion when she is done reading it. I love learning about the Old Testament as well as the New Testament. My favorite story is the one about the widow who was in debt. She came to Elisha for help. Instead of giving her the money she needed, he taught her how to put her faith and hope in God. She learned how to pray. It is a beautiful story. She tells Elisha that she only has a "little" oil. What we don't seem to realize sometimes as God's children is we have all of the resources of the world at our fingertips. All we need to do is realize the bounty of God's Kingdom. She collected jars from her neighbors and friends. The jars miraculously filled with oil and she was able to sell the oil to pay off her debt. God always provides for our needs.
At first I wasn't so sure about this book, but I quickly grew to enjoy the lessons we can learn from Elisha's life. This is an easy read that I enjoyed.
