Very good book for a pleasant read. My only objection was the way it ended. Something on the order of saying "I went to the supermarket and went inside to buy oranges.." And that's the end. I would have preferred a little more closure. Other than that, I enjoyed the book.

Plodding
There weren’t any characters I liked, or found sympathetic enough to want to find out who killed the murdered man, and why. It just dragged on and on. I skipped to the end and was glad I’d evaded what seems to have been a convoluted misunderstanding motive.

Likeable inspector
I liked the portrayal of the inspector, and also his sidekick. It was a bit of a swift shift in the story towards the end.

Cleverly plotted murder mystery set in Lincolnshire. A businessman is brutally murdered in his bed, with DI Amos leading the hunt for the killer.

Sorry to have to say but I was disappointed.
The title caught my interest,being a yellow belly myself, but upon reading I felt, apart from the mention of a few town names, this could have been set anywhere! There was no real connection to the county.
There's hardly any characterisation, the plot was weak and the culprit fairly obvious from early on. The ending is bitterly disappointing!
I also feel the proofreaders need a kick up the bum!The biggest mistake being the changing of Sarah's name...chapter 2, when we first meet her she is Miller, then the next time she is Miles... Poor and off putting!
I really wanted to enjoy this book...shame I couldn't.

Worth a quick read.

A bit tame but a good quick read. Characters are believable and I liked the twist in the story. This is the only Rodney Hobson book I've read and I enjoyed it.
