Valentine’s Day approaches and a lonely Joe Murray has his eye on the newest member of the Sanford 3rd Age Club, Letty Hill. But when the Sanford Valentine strangler strikes for the fourth year in succession, Joe’s amorous inclinations are sidetracked.
And he doesn’t have far to look for the prime suspect... it’s him.
A killer who leaves no trace, a public suddenly suspicious of him and a police officer with a personal grudge.
In this, the sixth in the STAC Mystery series, Joe is sure of only one thing...
A retired hypnotherapist and adult education teacher with a one-megaton sense of humour, David Robinson is a Yorkshireman from the outskirts of Manchester, northwest England, where he lives with his wife and a crazy Jack Russell Terrier named Joe (because he looks like a Joe).
He writes in several genres under different pseudonyms, but his mainstay is crime and mystery. He published several novels with different publishers until, in 2011, he turned to self-publishing on the Kindle, putting out 15 titles. In January 2012 Crooked Cat Publishing picked up the first of his popular Sanford 3rd Age Club Mysteries, The Filey Connection. More titles in the series are due in the near future.
He also produces darker, edgier thrillers, such as The Handshaker and Voices; titles which are aimed exclusively at an adult audience and which question the perceptions of reality.
In a more light-hearted mood again, he turns out the occasional sci-fi or paranormal adventure and he has also published some non-fiction.
As at March, 2012, he is working on more of the Sanford 3rd Age Club Mysteries and a sequel to The Handshaker.
one of the shorter stories with a little twist at the end , a good entertaining read. The one disappointing part to it but to it only affects e readers, the last chapter is mixed up with two last chapters from a previous book in the series. An unnecessary annoyance , after I realised the last chapter was still there just had to skip through the pages to find it. Hopefully this will be sorted on a update. It does spoil a good story.
I have really got into reading this series. As grumpy as he is you gotta like hi!. Please not ..... Chapters 12 & 13 are not for this book. The are from book #5 They need to be removed and the correct chapters installed. Look forward to reading the rest of the series. Great work
Two chapters from another book seem to have been inserted at the end. I am really puzzled. Characters have suddenly appeared that I have no knowledge of... The last chapter continues from where the rogue two have appeared.
Chapters 12 and 13 were from the previous book in the series so I feel a bit cheated on getting so near the end and not getting a proper conclusion. If you need a proof reader let me know.
(3.5 stars) A pleasant read, competently written. It's missing a certain spark or distinction that would make it more memorable, but it's a pleasing way to pass a few hours.
Book number 6 in the Sanford Third Age Club, and Joe finds a date for the Club's Valentine dance! Unfortunately, this is short lived as his date is later found dead and our Joe is prime suspect. Of course we know he didn't do it, but he has a hard task proving this!
I am a big fan of this series as people have probably already gathered, so of course I enjoyed it, although the climax was tenser than Joe's usual summing up!
