አዳም ረታ በ1950 ዓ.ም በአዲስ አበባ ከተማ ተወለደ። በትምህርት አለም - በጂኦግራፊ የመጀመሪያ ዲግሪውን ከአዲስ አበባ ዩኒቨርሲቲ ተቀብሏል። ሁለተኛ (የማስተርስ) ዲግሪውን ደግሞ በውጭ ሀገር አግኝቷል። የሚፅፈው በአብዛኛው አጫጭር ልቦለዶችን ቢሆንም ግጥሞችንም ይፅፋል። በተለያዩ ጊዜያት ግጥሞቹ በተለያዩ መፅሔቶች ላይ ታትመዋል። ያልታተሙ ግጥሞችም አሉት።

‹ማሕሌት›፣ ‹አለንጋና ምስር›፣ ‹እቴሜቴ ሎሚ ሽታ›፣ ‹ከሰማይ የወረደ ፍርፍር›፣ ‹ይወስዳል መንገድ ያመጣል መንገድ›፣ ‹ሕማማትና በገና› የተሰኙ የአጫጭር ልብወለዶች ስብስብ መጽሀፍትን በግሉ አሳትሟል፡፡

This book is a collection of short stories including the one given for the title of the book "እቴሜቴ ሎሚ ሽታ" which is framed following the generations long children's play song in Ethiopia, Ete'mete (እቴሜቴ) in its structure where it flows into taking a man's childhood and married life, His mother's loyalty and his wife's adultery. Where the stories segment's also reflect the different held views of the society told in the dialogue of the storyteller as well as the characters of the story. For quotes like "ደካማ ሰው የጠላቱን አጀንዳ የራሱ መስሎት የሚሰራ ነው፡፡ ከመስራት በፊት 'የምሰራው ማንን ይጠቅማል' በል፡፡" by Misrak (character in the book) are to be found when one reads through. This I belive is what makes the story reside in ones mind for long after reading, not only did it in mine but in all my other friends that have read this book share this view.
Another interesting fact about this book is, the title story of this book እቴሜቴ ሎሚ ሽታ is also one of the stories that got translated in to a movie in the Ethiopian book/film history. The movie titled as ሎሚ ሽታ is one of the movies in Ethiopia that I consider to be a must see.

ከአዳም ረታ ፅሁፎች መካከል የምወደው አይደለም። አንድም ጤናማ ግንኙነት አልተገለጠበትም ነገር ግን እያንዳንዱ ታሪኮች እንዴት እንደተጣመሩ አስገርሞኛል ምንም እንኳን እነሱ እራሳቸውን የቻሉ የአጭር ልቦለዶች ስብስብ የሚያሳዩ ቢሆኑም።
The last story was amazing in a way that it represented females going through that stuff immaculately and it was so surprising that it was written by a man in such a deep way .
