Chey Sinclair discovers that dating a real life Prince can be both heart warming—and heart wrenching. Sticking to her guns, she faces down the Queen and defies the Royal order to cease her relationship with Prince Sander. Piqued, the Queen strikes back, and Chey finds herself separated from Sander by no means of her own. Forced to return to Seattle, Chey waits, and hopes, to be reunited with her Prince. What happens next leaves her desolate and devastated. Just when she decides to move on, her wily Prince proves he has a few cunning plans of his own.
Will Sander Ahtissari pull off the impossible, or will the King and Queen of Latvala get their way in the end?

My heart was racing! I felt like I was watching the events on television. Hell, I even stopped just before the halfway point of the book and made some popcorn and got cozy on the couch because at that point, there was no way in Hell I was going to put this book down.
Jeeze-o'-Pete! My heart is still racing!
Danielle Bourdon what have you done to me? I am usually not a huge fan for non-X rated books. But this series has me hook, line, and sinker! And trust-you-me, I am NOT complaining one lil' bit.
The main characters, Sander and Chey, are forced to placed in some very sticky situations and their love and devotion for each other is so beautiful.
I cannot stress enough how this book, King and Kingdom, totally sucked me in and I didn't put it down for hours! And it wasn't because of mere determination that I wanted to finish this book in a six (6) hour period. Oh, no! It was simply because it was just that amazing!!
In fact, I am sorry that I am rushing through this particular review but the third book in the series Heir in Exile has just finished downloading and I cannot stand another second to not be reading to find out what will happen next.
"King and Kingdom" is a great follow up to the first book in the Latvala Royals. This time Chey and Sander go on a little vacation together where a man slips something into Chey's drink. He accuses her of coming onto him. Then she is whisked away and sent packing back to Seattle before she has an opportunity to speak with Sander.
Chey's best friend, Wynn has been wondering where her friend has been for weeks. When Chey conveys everything that has occurred, Wynn insists they go back to Latvala to seek Sander out. Before they can find him, there is an accident and Chey manages to rescue a child and a man. Sander shows up but they are unable to speak. Soon, Chey is carted away to the dungeon of the castle where the King threatens to have her and Wynn killed in what will look like an accident. They go back to Seattle.
Three weeks later, a broken hearted Chey attends a Holloween party with Wynn. Little does she know but behind the golden mask is Sander and he intends on finding out just what is going on.
Once again, this book is chocked full of twists, turns and surprises. I loved every minute of it. I cannot wait to read book three to see just what will happen with Chey and Sander.
I had issues with the first book, decided to continue to read the series, but knew this one was going to be a make or break book for me.
I made it about 20% before giving it up. The book opens with Chey on her way to a meeting with the Queen, where she proceeds to tell Chey, go ahead and sleep with my son, but you will never marry him, only not as nice. I get that the whole royal with a commoner isn't a good thing for most royals, but the way this was laid out. Man...if I was Chey I would have responded with a huge fuck you and walked out. Instead she was polite and left when asked.
Later Dare whisks her away to Monte Carlo, where they are going to have this little mini adventure, but who should be there, but the woman that Dare's family wants him to marry and what does she tell Dare, with Chey standing right beside him and who she has not acknowledged once, but how excited she is to hear that their marriage has been approved. WTF! Dare is polite, but walks away with Chey. Later on though he is forced to dance with his prospective bride, while Chey has to watch and ends up speaking to come random dude, who seems to be with the bride somehow and is awful to Chey. It's here I decided to give up because honestly, how many times is Chey supposed to eat the shit all these people are dishing. I don't care at this point if Chey and Dare can work things out, if he becomes King with Chey at his side, he's not worth being put through all of that. This one just isn't for me.

This book had me going *meh*, to be honest. I know that the backstage of royal family is not exactly flowers and rainbows, but I'm not sure they would stoop that low, honestly.
Another thing that bothers me is that I don't think that there is chemistry between Chey and Sander. I don't see sparks flying between them, or any sexual tension for that matter. This makes me a little detached from them: it's a forbidden romance, but there is no chemistry between them.
I'm not that comfortable with the writing style, either. I think this story might be better told from a first-person perspective, rather than the third-person perspective the author chose.
This is the second book in this series and I liked it better than the first. It was nice to see Sander and Chey's romance develop. Although I did find some of the plot twist a little heartbreaking right along with the heroine. This book has a lot of angst in it. Not too many light hearted moments. I will definitely be reading the next book in the series but hope that the story takes a turn to happier times. The writers style is good and it does keep me coming back for more. I think of this book as more like a movie or a soap opera.
3.5/5.0 Although a great story with loads of great twists and turns, we've spent two entire books where Chey admits her love openly and the reader gets to hear all about her feelings for Sander. Yet, he has yet to utter a single word of affection for her, let alone the big L word. All we get is him enjoying the great sex. Even after they are officially engaged! Ugh. This makes Sander look self-centered and unfeeling, while Chey looks like a ditzy door-mat. It truly is a testament to how great the story overall is that I'm still anxious to read on!
O_o, so much drama! *grinning* I'm afraid you will have to suspend you disbelief in this book even more than in the previous one. It almost reads like a Disney story, what with all the people in the foreign country speaking English, and the heroine and her best friend being able to read newspaper in English, etc., etc. But at the same time it's still very, very entertaining, and I hope I'll be able to continue with this series in the future. Read this guilty pleasure with me, peeps!
This book picks up immediately where the last one left off. The royal family being has been informed that Sander and Chey are now dating and they are not happy about it. Queen Helena warned Chey that there will be no future in Chey's fling with her son who is a prince and future heir of the kingdom of Latvala. She warned her of the repercussions if it becomes more serious. While at a high class function in Monte Carlo an unsuspecting Chey was placed in a uncompromising situation that immediately gets her kicked out of Sanders life and sent home packing without so much as a by your leave.
Once home Chey is devastated and started to put the pieces of the puzzle together that she was drugged and set up. After licking her wounds and with newfound determination, she makes a plan with her best friend to return to Latvala in hopes of finding Sander. They come up with an elaborate plan to find him and just when they thought their plan succeeded they are captured by the King. The King has plans for Sander that include Chey being out of the picture at all cost.
Another unexpected twist that you won't see coming will leave Chey distraught and will put an end to all hope that she will ever be with Sander again. Can love survived? Will blind faith and trust make her a fool or even worst dead?
When I read this I said to myself many times there just no way this romance will have a chance to work. At the same time I was cheering in my seat hoping that it would. I had to ask myself is the situation worth it? Could I, if I was in Chey situation, endure everything it took to say in this relationship? The answer for me is no but I am so glad that Chey did her own thing and endured all of the trials and tribulations of this romance. It is so worth the read you won't be disappointed and you will look forward to the next book in the series.
Second instalment of the series, I must confess that I stopped ready during Monte Carlo because it was becoming too predictable. I went off and read a few other books and came back. If only I had read two more pages I would have realised that it was all going to kick off! Great book, kept you guessing as to the next bombshell.
I do find that for a couple who are described as passionate and she comments that she will have bruises on her hips, that the love scenes are not written about, even the kisses are not really described. Maybe it is just me but to truly believe that they have this connection describing some of it would have made this a 5/5.
I try to write little in these reviews because I am trying hard not to spoil anything for anyone reading the books in this series!! Boy did my friends have to hold me back! I so wanted to jump into this book and kick a few butts...... You know an author is dang good when you go through all the emotions in one book. You will get it in each of her books! Book 1, Book 2 - definitely! I am sure book 3 will be the same! I pray Book 4 will be available before I even begin book 3. God knows I won't be able to wait...
This is the second book in the series and equally loaded with twists. It was good to see the romance being developed between Sander and Chey. Not a perfect story as it has its minuses. Though Chey appear to be a good hearted person but dialoges in the story make her look very selfish. There were times when I just disliked her as she was always thinking about herself. Anyways, I am all into this series and would definitely be reading the next book. I would say this book is a very good read with few of minuses. Still....
Smh I honestly can't even say anything. There is no plausible excuse for it taking me THIS long to read such a GOOD book. Now I admit it starts out a little slow but after about 15% in it is non stop action. My heart didn't stop pounding at any point. Whether it was during the rescue scene in the village. When the king threatened to kill her, when Sander showed back up or when they snuck her back into Latvala. I could not believe it was so action packed. I am floored. This book was AMAZEBALLS and I can not wait to get into the next book.
The first book was good. This second book was absolutely mind blowing. If I could rate this 10 stars I would. Warning though, once you begin this book, you will not be able to stop because every scene will drag you in and keep you there. The romance developed a lot more and it's definitely a modern fairy tale with a twist. The struggle in the royal family was a very nice touch to the underlying romance. Sander is definitely a knight in shining armor.
So, I read the second book - and I still don't know what to make of this series. I liked it and it frustrated me and I was disgusted with the royals from Latvala. There was nothing they didn't do to make sure they get what they want. The last third of the book left me stunned and with an disbelieving "What the ...??" on my lips. A little melodramatic but not too bad - which is why I'm now reading the third book :-)
I am writing this review for each of the books in this series that I’ve read as they were all exceptionally excellent. If you like one you’ll like the rest. I got the first book for free and had no intention of reading more. But after finishing the first I only thought about the world Bourdon created and I felt compelled to get and read the rest. A decision I do not regret after reading the first 7.
So my first thought is: how the heck did I read 450 pages in 3 hours!? I have never read a book so fast. This one is even better than the first one. It makes you anxious and relieved at the same time. The story seems unbelievable at times but it definitely does make you read it to the end.
All I can say negative about this is how much I hate the King and Queen! If the author intended to write them as hated...she did an amazing job! The rest of the book was as wonderful as the first one! I was left wanting more!
Ok so this book with in 30% I had to stop put it down cause I was totally feeling what Chey was feeling I had a heavy heart my stomach was killing me I had tears in me eyes and then decided I have to finish it! Then it got better, Thank God! This was a great second book and I love me some Sander
This one leaves off where the first one ended. Really captivating story. Cannot wait to see how it all end. Still hoping for more time with just Chey and Sander, but I am sure that is all to come. Also, Matthias should be around a bit more as he is a great character.
Very short books! I feel like they can be 2in 1. Ah! This is why I stick to the authors I love and can rely on to deliver a good story in a full book. Not a full story in 5 books. When whey can be one.
I enjoyed this continuing story of Latvala, Prince Dare and Chey. More and more of the cruelty of the King and Queen become evident as the story unfolds.
Chey and Sander have conquered another hurdle. They are fighting for this love tooth and nail. Lot more romance and action in this one. Sander is definitely Prince Charming. Good read.

This book is kind of like those romantic comedies you put on when you need something on TV, but you're not really expecting to enjoy it. This is what these books are surprisingly entertaining. If you want to have fun and not think too deeply about the book you're reading, then you might like this.
I enjoyed it!
Just one of the scenes with a character seemed a bit overdramatic (*iron bars*), but overall was a fun read.
I am loving the books on Latvala Royals. I can't put the books down once I start reading. It is heart inspiring that a royal can choose love over forced marriages. I enjoyed the story as it enfolded and look forward to next books
I am loving this series. As soon as I finish one book I have to purchase the next. I find Chey and Sanders to be so in love, but so many obstacles in their way.
