A dark graveyard, a fateful meeting by pure chance, and one young woman is wrapped up in the seductive claws of magical enslavement.
Lana is clever and brave, but her luck has never been the best. Attending her college and studying magic and artifacts, she finds herself drawn deep into the world of treasure hunting. Unfortunately, this pulls her into the intimidating eyesight of a man known for his power, and his cruelty.
That one cold night, her fate begins, and Lana is soon crawling into a world where everyone has a say in what she can, or cannot do, but herself. What do these powerful men want from her, and is it possible for her to sink further into the seductive magic of temptation and pleasure?
Book 1 of the Magic Can Get You Anything series, this story contains 8,000 words of bondage, forced slavery, domination and submission, first time oral, forced orgasms, humiliation, anal play and erotic sex toy penetration.
Mandoline Creme is an erotica writer who loves what she does, and infuses this into her stories. A wild life has led her to have many experiences, which she utilizes to really connect with her readers.
A former dancer with many nerdy hobbies, her favorite stories are usually set in dramatic, detailed fantasy worlds with a twist.
She writes to her heart's desire, finding no subject too taboo.
With her catalog only growing, the idea of ever pausing, of ever quitting this road of love and sensual debauchery, has never crossed her mind.
Currently free at ARe, apparently book one of the trend to serials. It is short (~8,000 words), in 1st person POV, and a Harry Potter fan-fiction for adults. If I had known of its Harry Potter fan-fiction history, I would not have gotten this since I little care to read fan-fiction.
The main character, on some sort of competition to retrieve a crown from a graveyard (of all places), discovers - to her great frustration and disappointment - that her rival and a Lord Brimstone (of whom she'd been warned to stay away from) have reached the crown first. In her attempt to get the crown and escape during the torture and escape of her rival by Lord Voldemort Brimstone, she gets captured.
The world is imperfectly set up with made-up names which do little to obscure the Harry Potter influence with the cruciatus-like curse and Lord Brimstone's side-kick, Lucius Malf- err, Saven Defur (who happened to have a son who was an annoying classmate of the main character at school) playing key roles in this story. The tired trope of the main character as a squealing virgin with hidden, masochistic fantasies who acted inconsistently with her character description did little to improve matters. I found the language and dialogue at odds with its fantasy-like setting which further separated me from the story.
I skimmed it. I won't be continuing because a) I am very reluctant to pay $2.99 for short stories and b) it is not written well enough for me to be worth $2.99 for something this short. I have read better original erotic fiction on-line for free.
Got this as a freebie in the Kindle store. It's the first installment of a larger series. I thought it was reasonably well-written and would have actually purchased the next story, but I'm a believer in getting my money's worth, and this series is seriously overpriced.
The author wants $2.99 for what amounts to a short story. Or you can get the whole series in a compilation -- $8.99 for little over 55,000 words. Come on now ... really? It's not that good.
It's unfortunate, because I enjoyed this little 8,000 word piece. It's clearly a very naughty play on Harry Potter. I enjoyed the Voldemort-ish character who repeatedly unleashed his cruciatus-ish spell on the foolishly intrepid heroine. Ha! Good stuff. I wanted more.
As an author myself, I believe in getting paid for what I do. I appreciate that Creme places a high value on her work, but for me, that price is too high.
Another serial novel. The first part is free and was interesting enough that I'm interested in the rest of the story, but not enough to buy the individual parts. If a complete story is available I'll probably pick it up.
Its not like I hated it. It wasn't long enough for me to feel anything. As a paranormal type book, there needed to be more description as to what the heroine was doing and who were the people who captured her.
Also not a bad book. Lana's run in with the Infamous, evil genius wizard, Manos ends in torture and pleasure. I liked it enough that I'm thinking of reading the second one whenever it comes out.
This story was hard to finish. It wasn't just because it was non-con or dub-con, which the blurb warned about. But the sex and humiliation made no sense and was definitely NOT sexy.
I have to totally agree with the last reviewer - far too much a Harry Potter with S & M porn angle. Certainly not interesting enough to consider buying anything in the series.
