This author needs to do more research into the Regency period, and to get a good proofreader. As examples: naming her heroine Darcee, dancing the waltz in 1806, using the word "okay". Using the expression "must of" instead of "must have". These are all mortal sins.

This book really needs proof reading. There are a number of words used that are far too modern (okay, it bugs him, etc.) but aside from that there are masses of grammatical errors. Here is a typical sentence "There was no here to help, if I hadn't of found you-!", too and to are used interchangeably throughout. However the part where a Lord Brendan was referred to as Lord Brenda made me smile :-)

What was worse for me than the grammar problems was the fact that the main character behaved in a way that was completely unrealistic for the times.

SPOILERS AHEAD She slaps somebody in public, then kisses somebody in public, stays unchapheroned in a single man's house for what seems like a long time without her brother even coming to look for her. Then she marries without her brother's consent and is quite smug over it, whereas in reality a woman of that time would have been well aware that her family could have had her marriage annulled, particularly if she married against their wishes.

Right at the beginning she is wearing a red dress rather than pale and she mentions the other women seeing it as the colour of fallen women etc but I think that it would have been a perfectly acceptable colour for a married woman of the time to wear, it's just that debutantes were generally dressed in pale colours.
