I have waited and waited since I read Pulled for Danielle to finally release Pulled Back and it was so worth the wait. I think I loved Pulled Back more than the first. I was so upset with her when Pulled ended the way it did and I am even more upset about the ending of Pulled Back but in a good way. OMG…she made me anxious throughout the whole book and then left me wondering, what next?!?!? Such a mean, mean writer!! Just kidding ;)
Pulled Back takes place in the future and is about three teenagers named Jada, Hawk and Tobias. These three were born on the same exact day and this day happens to be the day that something awful happened in Pulled…. No spoilers here!!! All three have lived a tough life. Jada’s father blames her for her mother’s death. Hawk’s parents are very hard on him and expect a lot. And, Tobias was born with asthma and a bad lung. I was so sad for these kids :(
Tobias and Hawk have grown up together and are best friends but Jada has just moved back into town when the story begins. Oh, how my heart breaks for these kids, especially Jada and Tobias. Tobias and Jada feel an instant attraction and this isn’t your usual physical attraction, they can feel when the other is distressed in any way. It’s like their lives depend on each other. But, Hawk thinks he is destined to be with Jada. Uh oh, what happens now??? Not telling…you have to read it!!!
I was so sucked into this story because my heart was breaking so bad and I needed to know that everything was going to be ok. But, is it really ok?? Ugh, Danielle never gave me that HEA I was looking for but she definitely has me ready for the next book. I love her writing. She words things where I never have a problem understanding what is going on and I can easily just sit back, relax and just enjoy what I am reading. If you are a lover of paranormal romance, this series is perfect for you. But, prepare yourself for anxiety and not a HEA. Oh, and make sure you read Pulled first :)
So the blurb doesn’t really give much to summarize the story, so I’ll do a little. Read Pulled by Danielle Bannister prior to reading Pulled Back, or reading this review because it will contain spoilers for Pulled. Jada, Tobias, and Hawk are 3 babies born the same night Naya, Etash, and Seth died, and in the same hospital. From the beginning, Jada and Tobias would cry as infants until they were close to each other. Jada’s mother dies during childbirth, Tobias’ parents put him up for adoption, and Hawk resides with his parents. Tobias is adopted by one of the nurses, and ends up living next to and being best friends with Hawk. Jada’s father keeps her, but becomes an alcoholic and abuser who cannot keep a job. They had moved away from the town, Webster, when Jada was a baby. When Jada enters senior year in high school, they move back to the town. That is when she meets Hawk first, then Tobias. Hawk had in his mind that Jada was destined to be his, before even meeting her. He heard the stories of the deaths and their births and has always waited for her. She and Tobias feel a pull towards each other that they try, but cannot deny. One night in the woods, similar to the first book, Jada takes pills and Hawk shows up. She doesn’t remember much, but he shows the same signs as Seth. Tobias is sick-asthma and born with a diseased lung. He is constantly sick, and this book is set in the future so the air quality is not great and it appears the economy is much worse than it is now. He notices he feels stronger with Jada around. I’m not going into any more of the storyline, but there is another character from Pulled that is in this book as well. There are several obstacles, suspense, and twists that do keep you entertained. You kind of wish the characters had been born into better situations, because you know what they went through in the last book. Why can’t they catch a break. While the book is still good, it seemed to lack something for me for some reason. I’m not sure exactly what it was, but it wasn’t as good as the first book, in my opinion. Maybe because the characters didn’t really notice the pull that much, or because it glossed over some of the loving with the characters. I really don’t know. But, I would still recommend reading it. I am interested to see where the author continues the story from here. Again, in this one there are a few twists. I give it 4 out of 5 stars! http://lkirk16.wordpress.com/2013/02/...
I won a copy of this book from a contest that Ms. Bannister had and I was definitely a true winner. How excited I was to get the second in this series. After reading the first one and having it stay with me for days after, I couldn’t wait to start this one. In less than 4 hours, I was pulled back into this story and held on till I finished. This is a heart-warming story that will connect to you and hold you tight. I’m hoping the rumors are true that we might be fortunate enough to see a third book in this series. Tobias, Jada and Hawk are all born on the same day. But as fate would have it, Jada has been apart from them until her senior year of high school when she moves back to the town she was born in. Hawk and Tobias have been friends from the beginning and when Jada comes back to town to live, their friendship hits a snag. Hawk feels that Jada is what he has been waiting for and the fates are on his side. But the pull that Jada has to Tobias and he has to her isn’t going to allow it to be easy. Will the fates step in once again and allow them to be together or will Hawk’s obsession with Jada interfere?
This book was beyond amazing. I love Danielle's work and can not wait to read more that she has. The story is an amazing look at love, soul-mates and the even stronger twin flames. I am a sucker for a good romance and I love the idea of the twin flames; a love stronger than anything else, that literally pulls you to one another. The first book leaves off with Naya, Etash and Seth dying. At the same time they died Jada, Tobias and Hawk were born. Book two chronicles their lives together and apart with them around the age of seventeen. The idea that they are meant to be a part of each others life. While Jada and Tobias are twin flames, Hawk is a force meant to keep them apart. While finding your twin flame may be rewarding with love it could prove to be a demise like it was with Etash and Naya. I love this book and the story that chronicles these three souls that will in one way or another find each other. I can not wait to read book three in this amazing series. Everyone should read these books as Danielle is amazing.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Once again a fab read and I cannot wait for book 3, I think this is where it will get very interesting once Hawk is back on the scene. I loved the way the circle of life theory came about and that the midwife on duty was one of the mums, love the flames theory and the book was definitely a page turner.
I received this eARC novel from Red Coat Publishing. This is my honest review.
Jada has had a pretty crappy life so far in her 17 years. When she was born, her mother passed away in childbirth, which has made her father very bitter and angry at Jada. It only gets worse when he decides to move them to her mother's hometown for Jada's senior year in high school.
When they arrive, Jada finds out something interesting: she was one of 3 babies born on the same night, on the same day, in the same hospital. And she meets the other two: Tobias and Hawk. Hawk is insistent that he and Jada are meant to be. What else does it mean that they were born on the same night?
And even though Hawk and Tobias are best friends - and next door neighbors - their feelings toward each other are getting strained because of their own personal feelings toward Jada. Because while Hawk thinks he is destined to be with her, Tobias has this pull, this connection, with Jada that he cannot describe. Whenever Jada is near, Tobias doesn't feel sick anymore. And being sickly all of his life with asthma and only 1 working lung, he knows that something is unique about him and Jada together.
But everything is falling apart around everyone. Tobias is getting sicker, and he's being forced to stay away from Jada, who is the only person he feels 100% healthy around. Hawk's anger is getting worse and worse, and ever since Jada came to town, he can't control his actions anymore. And Jada's father is getting meaner and drunker every day they are in this town.
Tragedy struck this town once, 17 years ago, and fate has made it that tragedy is about to strike again. Because even though these three don't know their history, they have a tragic past that might be repeating itself...
So. I liked this book. I did! But I'm just so ready for something happy to happen to these characters and for them to get their happily ever after. Because even though they don't remember their past life, I'm still haunted at how book #1 ended and I need for them to be happy and content and live a long, blissful life.
But I don't think that is going to happen. Oh, sure, the ending to this book SEEMED happy enough, but I can see the dark cloud forming around that cursed town of theirs, and I don't think things are going to be all hunky dory soon...
I am still so mad at Jada. Seriously, if you are being abused, even verbally, let alone physically, tell someone! Report it! DON'T TAKE IT AND ACT LIKE YOU DESERVE IT!!! It just frustrates me to no end, and it makes me so sad that this is how the female Twin Flame is always going to live. It just breaks my heart.
And Tobias. I loved how strong he got and how brave and determined he is. Every breath is a struggle for him, but he does a lot of brave things to make sure that Jada is okay.
And do NOT get me started on Hawk. I seriously have never wished death upon a character as much as I do with him. He is a nasty man, and I despise him so much.
I'm excited to read the next one, and will be crossing my fingers and toes and legs and arms the whole time I'm reading, hoping and praying that things end up good in the end. Because if it's another ending like book #1, I'm throwing my book across the room. No, seriously. And I've only done that one other time in my life, so it's that serious.
I’m in complete shock. The story starts off where it left off in the first book. Hawk and Tobias are best friends that find out that the girl they meet have the same birthday as them. Hawk automatically claims her but Tobias and Jada have an instant connection. I’m fixing to start the last book so fingers crossed. Definitely recommend this book.
Another exciting book in this trilogy. I liked how some of the characters from the first book came over into this one. It was a bit predictable at times, but still a very enjoyable story.
I'm back with book two! Yay! You may have seen my review on book one and noticed how much I loved it!
Well......Book two has a tough start, I mean book one ended lovely and then book two arts off with Jada cutting herself. I mean why start like that? Well probably because it would grab the reader and make them figure why this is going on. Jada grabbed my hear right away with just learning about her and the way she has been living for the past few years. Right now lets hope this new school will be her last one and her life becomes so much better, I just want some guy to come in and sweep her away already, and its only the beginning!
Now about Tobias. Tobias is a nice guy who has his own problems with life. Doesn't know his real family and was born with a pretty bad lung. The thing about it all, Tobias is not mean about it or complains about why it happened to him. I love how strong he is and it just makes his character so lovable. Tobias has his buddy Hawk by his side ever since they were young and Hawk is a really nice guy and I love that he cares so much about Tobias, though at some points I kinda thought he got a little too protective.
So what's the deal with these 3 characters you ask? Well it's very interesting, you see Hawk believes there is "the one" out there for him. That's why he doesn't give girls much attention when they gawk all over him.
Jada happens to come across Hawk when signing up for school and because he feels bad for being a jerk, he has Jada join him and Tobias for a late breakfast.
The visions! The love! It's so strong and there and it's only the beginning! So Tobias gets these flashbacks of a girl. Once Jada and Hawk appear and Tobias laid eyes on Jada, he had the connection! Then Jada had her own flashbacks and couldn't keep her eyes off Tobias.
Who knew breakfast could be so lovely. Yet, it can all turn in a heartbeat. You see, Hawk starts to go about the girl he believes he is destined to be with. He believes this because he and Tobias were born at the same place and date and there was a girl who was also born.
Jada just happened to be this girl and Hawk instantly went crazy and just wanted Jada. Jada wasn't exactly into Hawk and next thing you know Tobias leaves. He isn't very happy that Hawk got what he always wanted, again, but he still doesn't wish anything bad.
I can't believe how sucked in I got and only a few chapters in! I really love these books and Danielle has a way with writing. She really can grasp your attention and make you fall in love with these characters and just wanting to be a part of it all.
The ending of this book surprised me. I mean I knew who and how it would all go down, but I didn't expect it to be written the way it was. It still got me even though I knew what was going to happen! I love when that happens, it just proves how much the book grabbed you and how well the author writes.
This book was amazing over all and I will be coming back will book three pretty soon!
Well, we know how Pulled ended and that is why I left this part out of that review to include in the beginning of this one. This book continues and starts with the hospital from October 2011 where we are introduced to 3 new born babies all born the same night whom are Tobias, Jada, and Hawk. The same night that Etash, Naya, and Seth were found dead on campus. Of course we know that the three souls were reincarnated into the three babies so Tobias is Etash, Jada is Naya, and Hawk is Seth.
Book two pretty much has you start over again to introductions except this time Tobias and Seth grew up together and are best friends and is in the year of 2029. They are both going to be seniors. In book one, Etash had a scar on his left side of his face but was killed by Seth and in book 2, Tobias has a deathly asthma disease due to a bad left lung. The pollutions of the future has taken a drastic hit so this world is no longer the same. There are more struggles to buy food, phones and money are replaced by using eporters.
In book 1, Naya's parents were killed in a tragic accident and was abused by Seth to numb her pain. In book 2, Jada is abused by her father because he blames her for his wife's death during birth. She also cuts to remind herself who she is everyday, that she is not her mother but she is Jada..
Hawk is major bow and arrow hunter with a good eye and never misses to the kill. He has always been there for Tobias and has done CPR on him multiple times to save his life. Hawk also is waiting for the one, the girl that was born the same day has him and Tobias.
This book reveals more after all three souls encounter with unexpected twists once again and also ends in another cliff hanger. Find out what happens! Does Tobias and Jada finally have their happily ever after or is death knocking on their door once again?
Love and life continue in this second book in a three book series. Bannister makes a smooth transition into this book even though it is 18 years later. Pulled Back is a good title because that is exactly how I felt reading this I was totally pulled back into this story with excitement and suspense to see what happens. After reading Pulled (book 1) I immediately bought 2 and 3. I was not disappointed! This book is quite emotional and just as good as the first (which hardly ever happens!).
Tobias, Jada, and Hawk are born on the same day being the reincarnated souls of Etash, Naya, and Seth from book one. Their souls are intertwined in unimaginable ways from start. The characters are the same yet different from their earlier incarnations. Love and obsession as well as loyalty tangle with fate in brave new world. Love never dies--it is reborn!
Bannister comes up with an original plot with well developed characters and gives a twist to the classic reincarnation story. I could NOT put this book down. I HAD to know what happens ASAP! It is a fast read which is kind of sad because it seems to leave a whole in your heart. This author is amazingly talented and clever. I plan to read #3 immediately! Highly recommended. Although I would suggest reading the trilogy in order to gain the full effect and get the entire story (however I do think it could be read alone).
4.0 **** stars Of course Hawk and to be that guy with the looks and dysfunctional out of control with love. The story had a flow and easy to .., February 27, 2015 This review is from: Pulled Back (Book Two: A Flame Reborn) (Twin Flames Trilogy 2) (Kindle Edition)
Danielle Bannister the creator of Pulled Back: Book Two was again another nail biting book that kept sleep away.
I know the author end book one on similar notes as Shakespeare but where book two picked up was no where near. I had to wrap my head around the beginning when Naya, Etash and the freaky insane boyfriend end up in the same hospital where these three newborns were born. The original thought of drawing Jada and Tobias together at birth, not able to sleep apart was making me think. However, again Ms. Bannister had me hook. Oh course Hawk and to be that guy with the looks and dysfunctional out of control with love.
The story had a flow and easy to follow scenes. I am excited that I knew this author had an original idea beside the classic one used for the ending in book one. I had to purchase book two just for a peace of mind, not wanting to leave it to chance not reading this book.
The scenario is the same and a twist of fate too book two. That's a good thing when you more on with a collection, you introduce new characters with their own identities.
I received a copy of this book from the author for an honest review. It was good and I loved how the Author tied it into the first book with glimpses into the past lives as well as history of characters that resurface in this book who played key roles in the first one. Definitely a tragic triangle but I feel the main characters were not as tangible as Naya, Etash and Seth were in the first book. You feel the attraction of Jada and Tobias but I didn't feel the all consuming pull that the Author made you feel in the first book between Naya and Etash. Don't get me wrong the story was still amazing and I can't wait for the third book to come out to see where it goes and what Hawk ends up doing. I also love the dystopian story line that shows a future that we could very well see with technology in the school systems and our daily lives. I ended up reading this story in one day as I couldn't put it down - it really did pull me in again!
I was disappointed with this sequel, which made me sad because I was looking forward to reading it for months. After reading other reviews I poured a glass of wine, downloaded it and read it in one sitting. It lacked so much that the first book had. There was no romance or sexual chemistry between Jada and Tobius, and I didn't like how they knew about the "pull" so early on. It was lacking excitement, mystery and passion. I also didn't like how the setting is in the future, although there's not much that could have been done about that. Ill still read the next installment to see how it ends, but after reading this one I feel the first should have just been left as a cliffhanger allowing readers to draw their own conclusions.
I've been looking forward to this book since I finished Pulled, last summer. Patience is NOT one of my virtues, so I purchased it the moment I realized it was released...and finished it the next day.?
I didn't even realize hours had passed since I started reading it. I'd have finished it in one sitting had I not had real life to attend.
My issue with book one was non existent with the sequel. I got to know more about each of the characters and how they ticked.
I will admit to screaming at a certain part of the book, you'll know when you get there.
Now I just have to wait patiently for the next book in the series... (refer to paragraph one)
It is the sign of a good writer to improve with each book. Ms. Bannister has done just that with her sequel Pulled Back. While her newest book weaves a continuous connection with the first in the Twin Flames series, it is also told in such a way that it stands solidly on its own. The use of the future for a setting gives the story a bit of an apocalyptic feel, giving the reader a glimpse into a different world. Once again, Bannister writes a superb ending, sure to make readers eager for her next book, which will no doubt be the best of the series.
Pulled Back is a lot like Pulled, but in a darker, harsher future. The characters all kept some similarities with Jada craving pain and control to feel anything, and Hawk remaining selfish and controlling. Although he did have a few nicer things about him this time, losing his womanizing ways and having loyalty to Tobias who is Jada's twin flame. It didn't feel like there was quite as much content as Pulled where the characters felt more alive to me, but the author did leave an interesting ending that will have me buying the third book when it comes out.
I was so emotionally moved by Pulled that it took me a year before I was able to venture into reading the second book. I was immediately drawn into the lives of Tobias, Hawk and Jada. At first, I was confused by the relationship between Tobias and Hawk, but soon began to understand the intricate nature of it. I was fascinated by the flashbacks to Naya and Etash. I love the story and as soon as I finished the book, I had to start Pulled Back Again immediately. I can't wait to find out what happens to these 3 characters, although I am not sure I am going to like what I find.
Danielle Bannister does it again! Hats off! Exactly what pulled me into the last book that's what pulled me into this one. It is the definition of what a page turner is it just keeps you glued to the pages and engrossed in the story. The love story is beautiful, the supernatural underling incredible and the suspense is just riveting. An all around well crafted story. I am definitely a fan of the series.
So, I read PULLED and thought it was really good even though my emotions were shredded afterwards. I didn't plan on continuing the series, but I just couldn't stop thinking about Naya and Etash. As cheesy as it sounds, I was pulled from reading PULLED, which caused me to be pulled back into the series, so I read PULLED BACK. Got that? I'm glad I read it. It was really good, too. Now, onto PULLED BACK AGAIN.
I loved it as a second book!! Although I wish there would have been a way to make it a bit more adult or at least have had older characters considering a certain event that happened, but all the same I enjoyed this book. I would have liked Naya and Etash to still be around but.....it's still a great addition.
I loved this book. I wonder if another one is coming out and if so when. I loved the first book as well. This is for sure a heart to heart book. It can for sure take a part and put together others in ways that we never would think twice about.
This book is one of those books that really make u wonder is love at first sight fate ? This book makes life a reality especially among young love. I really enjoyed this book and can't wait to read the next !
More like 3.5. This book was no where near as good as the first one though the ending was a bit better. Overall I felt like the story was forced instead of moving smoothly. Will definitely keep an eye out for the supposed book three whenever it makes its appearance!
Extremely long with not a lot happening- could have really benefited from much harsher editing. And the further through I got, the sloppier the writing got. I didn't much like the characters and it proved a disappointing and somewhat tedious read.
Really good book!!! I loved it and cannot wait for the next book to be released!! I already know I will be anxious reading the next book and hoping it has a happy ending.
