OHKUBO Atsushi

Atsushi Ōkubo ( 大久保篤), also romanized as Atsushi Ohkubo, is a Japanese manga author and fantasy artist known for his work on the manga series Soul Eater, which has been adapted into an anime. Okubo worked as an assistant under Rando Ayamine, on the manga series Get Backers. He also created artwork for various cards for the Lord of Vermillion game.

Atsushi Ōkubo was not a model student and was more attracted to drawing than to learning. At the age of 20, after finishing studies at a manga school where he met Rando Ayamine, the author of Get Backers, he became Rando Ayamine's assistant for two years. Finally, he won a competition at Square Enix's Gangan magazine with his first manga series B.Ichi and it was published for four volumes. After the end of his last manga, he created Soul Eater, still for Square Enix's Gangan magazine, which brought him worldwide success.

Story is fine, but missing something something and a bit of filler. It appears we are nearing the end of the story.

Vol 25:
During the fight against one of the pilers off the Tokyo Coast, Shinra is convinced by Inca to travel back in time to figure something out. Shinra awakens 3 months later tied down in a bed because during the last 3 months he had been the villain everyone said he was. We then get background on the life of Captain of Company 7.

Vol 26:
Is mostly just a fight between the Captain of Company 7 Captain Shinmon Benimaru and the Demon Version of the previous company 7 Captain. There is a lot of backstory flashbacks and an interesting fight. We then follow Sho and his guardian Arrow doing basic detective work on his family history. This includes a lot of flashbacks. We are getting filler at this point.

Vol 27:
More Sho doing basic detective work. We get more background/fashbacks.
The final pillar appears. The founder of their religion appears and starts killing stuff.
Sho and Shinra meet again! Then we are off to the final battle against the White Clad cult.

Super action packed and there's so much happening I wish I had the next volume with me so I could continue. I'm curious to see how everything is going to play out.

Benimaru's fight is what sold this for me as well as Shinra's past and what his and his brother's roles are. It's all well done and it works so well.
