I'm a teacher, father, and storyteller fascinated by how big ideas shape little moments (and vice versa!). My work spans from whimsical children's tales to tongue-in-cheek historical parodies—always with a spark of adventure.

For Young Readers: The Capybara Adventure Series, where lovable siblings Carlos and Camila explore nature, solve fun mysteries, and learn about caring for our planet. Aimed at Grade 2-3 readers, these lighthearted journeys introduce curiosity, empathy, and environmental themes in every chapter.

For Adventure Lovers of All Ages: My comedic passion project The Lucifer Journals, a 70-volume saga in which a well-meaning cosmic observer (a.k.a. Lucifer) accidentally triggers humanity's major turning points—agriculture, armies, organized religion—often with chaotic and hilarious results. Each volume reimagines how human history might unfold if one well-intentioned meddler just couldn't keep his hands off the timeline.

Whether I'm teaching in a classroom, sharing bedtime stories with my own kids, or spinning a quirky alternative history, my goal remains consistent: to spark wonder and laughter, and to remind us that even the biggest adventures start with a single curious step.

-Hiii everyone, Its Christopher the reader, The book we are here to talk about tonight is (Drum roll) Redemption. This story is the 2nd in the 'Boys For Sale Series.' After delving into Marc Finks's work for the second time, I am inclined to explore more of their literary creations in the future. I first read this book in March, of this year (2023) It took me a day to finish reading. 'Redemption' was first published on the 10th of February in 2013. The story was told using third person with it following multiple points of view. (tavi, javir, vikramhad, laura and rachel) Which had 52 chapters all together the book had 380 pages. which also includes a epilogue at the end.

-I found myself unable to resist diving into the second book after completing the first. I do strongly recommend reading the first story prior to going into this one, and revisiting it if it has been a while since your last read-through. I do feel like this book was written pretty well. with rich character descriptions that make them feel like real people. Despite having an inkling about what might happen in the story, I was still taken aback upon reading it. Similar to my experience with the first book, I opine that both story's could benefit from a thorough editing process. While reading through them, I noticed a few instances where multiple words were used unnecessarily, resulting in errors in the wording. As I immersed myself in this book, I couldn't help but notice that each chapter presented a unique perspective. However, there was one section that seemed to deviate from this approach.

Tavi's unwavering tenacity, courage, strength, and determination have left an indelible mark on me. Despite seemingly insurmountable obstacles, he fought with all his might and refused to let adversity tarnish the goodness in his soul. I thoroughly enjoyed reading the scenes in which the characters experienced moments of happiness amidst their struggles. I could vividly imagine each scene as if I were present. To be frank, I found myself shedding tears profusely as I read this story, particularly because I realized that while the book is fictional, there are countless children currently living through similar circumstances. It's a stark reminder of how frightening our world can be. This story exudes a sense of hope as it chronicles the inspiring journey of the young boys fighting against the harrowing reality of child trafficking for sexual exploitation. It sheds light on the crucial role of a responsible system in protecting vulnerable children and emphasizes the urgent need for governments to take decisive action in eradicating this heinous crime.

I found the plot twist in the book to be quite intriguing and enjoyed seeing glimpses of team building throughout. One aspect of the story that I particularly enjoyed when I was reading this book was the interconnectivity of events and characters across multiple perspectives. It was fascinating to see how different characters' experiences and viewpoints intersected, providing a rich and nuanced understanding of the story's central themes. Although we came across some mentions of Billy in other people's accounts within the book, our exposure to his story was limited.

I do think that it would have been fascinating to gain insight from his perspective within this story. However, I believe that my enjoyment of the book would have been heightened if it had solely followed the perspective of Travi, with greater integration of the other points of view. I also think that with the way that the story was written I feel like it would have been more enjoyable if each chapter had a clear title indicating the date, time, and character being followed. As I read through the timeline, I found it somewhat confusing due to the lack of clear markers.

I appreciated that Travi and other characters in the book shared my love for reading, but I was left wanting more when the specific titles they were engrossed in were not mentioned. It would have been a delight to discover new reads alongside them.

-Meeting Rachel, the woman from the prologue of the first story, is something I have been looking forward to and I am delighted that it has finally happened. I enjoyed discovering more about familiar characters and meeting new ones in this book. However, I feel that I would have appreciated deeper insights into their personalities and backgrounds. If there were ever to be another story about this group, I would be thrilled to delve deeper into their recovery process. It seems that there is not much media coverage on this aspect, and I would love to read a more detailed account.

-Reading this book evoked memories of the CBBC TV show Dodger and the classic tale of Robin Hood, but it was primarily reminiscent of Dodger, which is a modern retelling of Oliver Twist. The ending of the story completely won me over. Despite my initial apprehension about how it would unfold, I was ultimately delighted with the way everything wrapped up. Given the growing popularity and accessibility of audiobooks, it seems only fitting that this book should have its own audio edition. In my opinion, raising awareness about human trafficking is crucial. Despite being a pervasive issue, it remains largely hidden and receives insufficient attention. Personally, I believe that adapting this book series into a TV show could be a powerful way to shed light on this important topic. If such a show were to be produced, I would certainly make an effort to watch it.

For each story that I read, I rate it out of 10 so for this am going to give it a 9.8. Remember this was what I thought about the book personally and I suggest that you give it a go for yourself.

11 High jumps with a "Hell yeah!"

As stated in the first chapter of the previous book, Tavi managed to escape "The School House" along with his life as a child prostitute. This proves to be a temporary reprieve however as he is now on the run from his captors after a bounty is placed on his head. With no where else to go, his chances for survival seems slim until a visit to his old acquaintances, Kyle and Kurt, gives him an idea.

Now with new found allies, Tavi and the "street rats" band together to make a stand and save the rest of the children still held captive by the human traffickers while trying to stay alive. But this proves to be difficult as the means they use save the other children and survive on the streets shed a negative light on their attempts. Now with the public hating them and bad cops out looking to sell them back to the sex bars, Tavi becomes overwhelmed as they get picked off one by one. Just when everything seems lost, a few good souls may just hold the key to their salvation. But will it be in time before there's no else left to save?

This was a complete adrenaline rush from start to finish and I relished every page of it. Yes, there is still gore, death and inhumane torture inflicted to little children in this book which made my stomach churn continuously. But the resilience and strength of these children made me cheer them on even more with each small victory. I just can't get over how this story brought so much emotion and took so much energy out of me.

What I like best about this story is how it shows the complexity of battling human trafficking. It's overwhelming, never ending and sadly, there are those too late to be saved even with the best attempts. The specifics mentioned in the book made me really empathize with those wanting to end human trafficking and made me realize this violation of human rights cannot be overcome by just a single enity. It's something we should all hold ourselves responsible for and act on.

I still wouldn't recommend this book to youngsters or anyone looking for m/m romance and the like, but for those who managed to brave the first book, I'm honestly glad to say that there's a light at the end of the tunnel.

A standing ovation from me!

I read Boys For Sale & Redemption in less than a week. Children being used as sex slaves is a sickening reality. These books tie a lot of emotion to all the characters and left me wanting to better educate myself on this issue. In just a few minutes of researching, I've learned that my state(Texas) is a hub for international trafficking. It is estimated that one out of 3 runaways (6000 runaways annually in Dallas& Houston alone) are lured into sex trafficking within 48 hours of leaving home.

4 surprising stars! **Mild spoilers!**

Havi's adventures continue in book 2 of "Boys For Sale."

A deeper look into the selling of children, some homeless, some taken from their homes and some bought from families who no longer wanted them, to work in the sex trade.

Tavi manages to get a place for his "crew" under a bridge. However, the two other gangs of homeless kids, ages 5 to 17, don't want them there. Tavi convinces them to join together to rescue even more children, who are being snatched by the corrupt police or who already work in the sex bars.

In this book, Tavi finally receives help from a city councilwoman named Rachel. As the police and the bar owners become more aggressive to either take back the kids Tavi has already rescued or grab more homeless children from the streets, Tavi and his band of 30+ kids try to fight back, but it's becoming riskier and more dangerous to do so.

With decent world building, fitting dialogue and lots of setbacks, can Tavi ever truly be safe again? As the number of kids around him dwindles, he starts to doubt himself and his actions. He will need a miracle to save his "gang" and himself.

Wow. This book, along with part 1, Boys for Sale, tells the powerful story of poverty, despair, and desperation that is the reality of human trafficking, specifically sexual trafficking. For that reason alone, I give it 2 stars, as it shines a fairly shallow light on the subject, but a light nonetheless.
The problems with this book start at the decision to novelize the story rather than simply dramatizing it. The story as presented is stomach churning, but I couldn't help but feel that there was a superficiality about it that rendered it unbelievable. Truthfully, it is difficult to pinpoint exactly what makes me feel this way. There are some major issues, like the monetary system and even the location, that are presented in ways that are at once specific and frustratingly generic. For example, we are given to understand that this happens in a big city, but where are the missions? Where are the churches? We see a brief interlude with church workers, but honestly it reads more like a "have to show how ineffectual they are" than anything else. As a reviewer on Amazon said, where are the people whose job it is to keep public spaces available when those spaces are being invaded by hoards of dirty street children?
It's hard to criticize the book when the problem is all too real. I can't help but feel, though, that a dramatization of someone's real story would have been a much more powerful way to get the point across. The emotions of the central characters is shallow and poorly defined. We don't really see motivation behind the action. If the story is, as the prologue states, designed to show that "bad" people can have "good" thoughts and motivations and that "bad" people can do "good" things, honestly, it fails.
Rather than spend your time reading these 2 books, spend your time at the website love146.org or notforsalecampaign.org - both of these are excellent resources to educate yourself about what goes on, and HOW it goes on, even in small-town USA.

The conclusion of Boys for Sale.

Not as graphic as the first but definitely more dangerous for the 'street rats'. They continue to band together and realize they are much stronger when they help each other out instead of taking one another down.
Tavi and his band of boys are slowly rescuing other boys from the bars. Some of the boys want to go home. Tavi and his friends take them, at their own expenses. Kyle is videotaping a lot of the gangs going ons, which will come in handy very soon.

Since the are not stealing from one another they steal from the 'boujies' or rich(er) kids. They continue to hide from the cops, whom are dirty and work hand in hand with the Bars. The Bars don't care what kids they take just as long as it keeps the numbers of boys up. The Bar owners begin torturing the boys that the police have returned to them.

This is a pretty gut wrenching story with a lot of loss and heart break. We all think it doesn't happen in our neighborhood. Even Rachel, the council woman couldn't believe it was going on in her area. When she does find out she moves forward with changes.

This book ends happier but by no means is it a happy ending. The destruction is already done.

Thank you Mr. Finks for shedding a little bit of light on this horrible subject.

Enlightening to someone from a small town.

Enlightening to someone from a small town.

the story was told like you were truly reading a dairy that one of these boys could have written. I was ignorant to the way these kids ended up in these situations. I always pictured runaway or the kids being abducted. never given up for the hopes of better life.

It all wrapped up into an HEA. But, my God, what a story. So tragic, so moving. Boys for Sale and Redemption are two books but one story. I can't imagine anyone reading the first and not following up with the second. These are maybe the most impactful books I've ever read.

Chilling, challenging, and twisted, but ultimately worthwhile

Boys for Sale and Redemption are, hands down, the most disturbing things I've ever read. I had to stop after every few chapters was I was overwhelmed by the brutality, the inhumanity of the men who would treat children as sex toys. I'm not going to sugar coat the content, I've never been as disturbed as I was by the graphic description of what Tavi and the other boys were subjected to. In the end however, Redemption is a book of hope, unlike Boys for Sale, which was written with an overwhelming sense of helplessness. Brace yourself if you choose to read Redemption, its brutal, graphic and pulls no punches. Boys are tortured, murdered and commit suicide to escape the hell they were sold into. Everyone should read these books, as disturbing as they are. Sunlight is the worlds best disinfectant and the more people are aware, the more likely it is that the practice of selling children as sex slaves will be curtailed. Just don't plan on sleeping well after reading these books, nightmares are almost guaranteed.

The exception to everyone who should read these books are those who have suffered sexual abuse, the entire books could be triggering...

Boys to save and some girls, too.

This is a continuation of the first book, but with a better (bitter) ending. It might be quasi-HEA, but as the Epilogue confirms, there never is an end to sexual slavery and prostitution. This is an eternal good vs evil power and money problem that as long as people and situations are unequal will continue to exist and thrive. It takes valiant and continuous action by many people and authorities to restrict and reduce this invading sickness where sex is power over others who are defenseless and expendable.

This is an often ignored topic because of the huge amount of money changing hands. But virtually none of the money goes to the crime victims. They just get the cum, blood, beatings and disease. Too bad the provider and the payer do not have to pay all of the victim's costs. They would not be so powerful as they think they are.

Open your eyes and hearts to what is happening around you, often even in your own house. It is not always about money.

When I say not easy to read, I’m referring to the subject matter. The narrative is so good, I was compelled to go on..

After reading Marc Finks first book “Boys for Sale” I immediately went to this one. Traffickers, went to the most impoverished towns, offering to sponsor education for the boys. Money was given to the parents to encourage to encourage the exchange. What comes next for the boys is a frightening and humiliating life of drugs, sex, and fear.

After escaping “The Schoolhouse” Life on the streets is ‘better’ only because they didn’t have to sleep with men for their survival, but they still had to find different places to sleep, to get food, and learn to survive.

It happens everywhere, even in this country. And we are all oblivious to what others are dealing with.

I highly recommend reading the first book in the series Boys for Sale”

Heartbreaking, a must-read for anyone that cares about the Lost Children

When I first started reading these books I wasn't sure if I was going to keep it up. Very hard to read in the fact that there was so much tragedy and heartbreak for the children. I would recommend this book to anybody that has children grandchildren nieces nephews not for the grace of God have people that care for them. I would also recommend it to read so that people are aware of what's going on in this world not just our country or to exotic places. It can happen to anyone at any time. Please read it. It's a hard read but it is eye-opening at his heartbreaking and I'm glad it ended well but I know there are more stories out there from other children who have gone through the same things.

A wonderful enlightening story

This two-book set takes you on a highly emotional journey to the depth of your feelings. It has hate so real you can taste it and love so tender it will bring tears to your eyes. Don't be afraid of these books and their serious topic because some parts will be difficult to read, the uplifting ending is well worth the sorrow in the story. It left me with the most wonderful take away emotional feeling that will stay with me for the rest of my life. I am so glad that I've read these two books. I send my heartfelt thanks to Marc Finks for his brilliant writing. I will be forever grateful.

Mind Blowing

I'm so absolutely impressed with Tavi: his tenacity, his courage, his strength, his determination. This young man fought when there seemed to be nothing left to fight for. He stood firm after getting knocked down time and again yet NEVER let those things destroy the good soul he truly was. Humanizing these children and their struggles does (for me) what was intended, inspires me to get involved! Great story.

This book was shit. I read it because the reading challenge I'm participating in had me read a duology, and I read Boys For Sale for the first part of the prompt. I didn't like it and I didn't like this one even more. It was poorly written, the topics are sensitive and are not handled gracefully, and the story does not make sense at all without context from the first book. And I forgot a ton of the first book because I didn't like it and it's been 4 months since I read it.
