In the snowy streets of Gävle, a man is found dead, and a homeless girl, who is on the run, holds the key to the truth. When Inspectors Isa Lindström and Timo Paikkala take on the case, they discover that this is just the tip of the iceberg. As they delve deeper, they uncover a tangled web of corruption and deceit that reaches all the way to the top.
With ties to a past mass shooting and a looming political convention, the stakes are higher than ever before. As the clock ticks down, Lindström and Paikkala race against time to unravel the conspiracy before it's too late. But as they peel back the layers of this twisted plot, they realize that the real danger may not just be the killer they're hunting, but the powerful forces behind the scenes.
In a pulse-pounding thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat until the very end, Lindström and Paikkala must navigate a dangerous maze of clues and suspects to solve the case and expose the truth.

Engineer by day, writer by night—that's how I would describe myself. Since childhood, I have been fascinated with how writers can create entire worlds with simple words and draw others into their stories. I remember spending my summer holidays as a teenager reading detective stories and trying to write my own tales in the style of Agatha Christie on an old typewriter (yes, I'm that old!).
In the evenings, I would read my freshly typed pages to my younger sister, always ending on a cliffhanger to keep her longing for more. Those were precious moments. But as I got older and my schedule filled up with a job, husband, and children, there was little time left for writing. Eventually, I realized that all those stories in my head had disappeared.
In 2020, at the start of the Covid pandemic, I decided to reignite my passion for writing and published my first novel, THE FIND, on Amazon. Since then, this has become a full-blown book series.
As a writer, I truly appreciate your feedback and reviews. I am still on a learning curve and can always do better.
I am grateful to all the readers who have taken the time to read my books.
There's a quiet lull in The Gavle Police Department, with the arrival of the new Superintendent Finn Heimerssen , Timo's childhood friend , who is cold and aloof with the team .When Isla and Timo are called out to a crime scene on a freezing cold morning, a man has been found dead in an alley..Upon further investigation they learn the man was murdered, and after rooting through CTV footage they realise they have to find a young homeless girl to keep her safe But the snow and the chill are not the only things hampering the case .A storm is coming. It will be swift and unrelenting..There will be blood shed ..So much deception , lies so deep ..A blanket of darkness and rage .And through the eye of the storm , as Timo , Isla and the team tread softly ..there will be no going back ..Venezia Miller's darkest storycin the series so far ...Stunning.
Soooo many secrets hidden within soooo many FABULOUS and INTENSE characters!!! The setting is sooo gorgeous and darkly beautiful!!! The writing is superb!!! I ADORED ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING about this AMAZING Nordic Noir!!!!:-). I HIGHLY recommend ALL books in this series and I am hoping for more!!!:-). LOVED IT!!!:-)
Isa is a terrible person, even by the fourth book she did not get my symphaty. The whole right wing plot is nonsense the delusions of a left wing bias. In general if I were to take the book as at least a true reflection of Sweden I would conclude no one is happily married. Kids hate their parents and the parents are bad to their kids. More police are corrupt than honest.
Too long, when will authors override their publishers and realise that all the best fiction books are about two hundred pages long? It is difficult to maintain intensity when you are scrabbling about for padding.
kindle - 4.5* - just love how these books link on and how it’s all entwined. Really gripping and lots going on, lots of subplots so just about can keep up, really good love this series. Not as good as the last one but still really really enjoyable
