Little Critter was one of my favorites growing up and now I get to share these sweet and simple stories with my little boy. I don't think I'd ever read this particular one, but it was just as lovable and endearing as the ones I knew as a kid. The text and the pictures work together to create a whole story - Little Critter says that he's helping, but the illustrations tell a very different story (with some humor to it too). Also, this was something I relate to my son - giving love and help to family members when they're sick or having a bad day. Sure, he's just a baby still, but he's learning all the same.

This is one of my little girl's favorite books. She has adopted the phrase, "Just a little love," and says it whenever she needs hugs/kisses/loves.

Dumb. As the books progress into the year 2000 and later, Mercer Mayer realizes they're going to pay him to write anything. He clearly didn't give a shit with this book.

Cute and wholesome. I call my youngest "my littlest love" and he's definitely a lover so I think this book resonated with him.

this book was pretty cute and another valentines Day book, I am not sure if I would have this book in my classroom unless I was teaching kindergarten as it is a pretty easy book.

I liked the illustrations, but I wouldn't mind if this book wasn't in my classroom. It just didn't do that much for me

This book was cute and a fun read. This book would be good for younger students for Valentine's Day in February. I wouldn't make a lesson out of this book but I could definitely keep it in my library for a fun read.

"Just a Little Love" by Mercer Mayer is a cute children's story sharing the importance of giving respect and love to others. This beginning book teaches students about caring for/about others and how it can positively influence them. I would use this in a pre-kindergarten or kindergarten classroom to teach my students about care and respect if the class was having issues with this. This is also a children's book I would have available in my classroom library for my students to read on their own.

It is not often that the preface of a children's book will make me tear up. The preface to this book did, and, as wonderful as the text was in the story that followed, the best part of this book is the preface.

The story is simple: Even when people love each other, things can go wrong. And when things go wrong, people need just a little love (more).

The text, of course, is adorable and sweet and easy for a child to understand. And the illustrations are all of that, and more.

"Just a Little Love" by Mercer Mayer is a great beginning children's book. This is an easy read for students in pre-k or kindergarten. This book shows the importance of giving others respect and love. I would also have this book in my classroom library for my students to read on their own free time.

Everything can be fixed with a little love. Little Critter is a great series to start of with for beginning readers. One other thing I liked about the was the dedication page. It was very nice of the author and the publisher to dedicate such a loving book to Sandy Hook.

This works for Valentine's Day, but also any time like a sick day or family day. Sometimes life is hard or frustrating, but with a little love it can all be set to rights.

Thanks to HC.

This is one of my favourite Little Critter books. After reading it, I would sometimes go up to people in my family and ask them, "Do you need a little love?" and then hug them.
